![Review: Azeda Booth | In Flesh Tones [MP3]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1162588_lg.jpg)
If there is anything startling about the relatively chillaxed Calgary-based quintet Azeda Booth , it is that its singer is an adult male. Jordon Hassock, to be precise. This is likely not news to already-confirmed fans of the band (it already has an EP under its belt and In Flesh Tones will be in stores Tuesday). But those coming to Azeda Booth with fresh ears will likely presume that the distinctly distaff, ethereal vocals emanate from someone more like Blonde Redheads ' Kazu Makino or one of Múm 's Valtýsdóttir twins. That latter [...]

Here is the sum total of what I know about Calgary, Alberta, Canada: it was the host city for the 1988 Winter Olympics; it is the host city of the annual Calgary Stampede, a crazy-ass Old West chuckwagon race and rodeo; and if you want to cross the street in Calgary but you're not at a light or a designated crosswalk, just wave your hand and the cars in both directions will stop for you. That last thing may be a lie, but it says something pretty outstanding about Calgarians, and Canadians in general. Could you imagine waving your hand [...]

photo by Marc Rimmer :: web site :: myspace There are certain records that just scream summer. Little Jabs , Five Roses , the new Snailhouse record, and We, The Vehicles are just a few that come to mind. The tempo, energy and warmth that exude from the songs really make you want to be outside, surrounded by friends and strangers. On the flip side of the coin, the new Azeda Booth record - In Flesh Tones - is written [...]

Mysterious Body is the first EP from Calgary, Canada's experimental pop-ambient sextet Azeda Booth , it takes on board atmospheric soundscapes and gradual momentums. Like Sigur Rós, vocalist Jordon Hossack incorporates bowed guitars on stage and delivers those strained lullaby male falsettos complementing soft acoustics of " Landscape (With Grass) " and in contrast to the harsh electronics of " Dead Girls ". The record is filled with these tinkering spacey mellow pieces drawing out the fine elusive blend of acoustic-based electronic sounding as natural as possible. It's this crossover which sees the band [...]

It's a simple fact of life that Spoon are great. In a sane world every person would be humming their tunes all day long. Well by now you probably are aware that their new album "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" will drop in July on Merge Records . Well for your listening pleasure I have a new track from the album "The Ghost Of You Lingers". I think it's great, just an incessant piano with Britt's haunting vocals. A beautiful, mysterious sound. MP3: The Ghost of You Lingers [...]

Azeda Booth 's Dead Girls is electronica let loose. It's not just outside the lines. It's off the page, and the crayon lifted off the table, coloring in the air. Azeda Booth - Dead Girls (mp3) Azeda Booth - Aislinn Bos, Y (mp3)

azeda booth landscape (with grass) 2007 (française version) Corps mystérieux.

If you haven't guessed, my non-blogging yesterday coincided with the fact that it was sunny and nice here in Wisconsin, and more importantly, that the NFL Draft was taking place. There's so much that could be said about the draft and the picks teams made, and I'm sure in the months leading up to the start of the NFL season you'll hear about how each team's pick panned out (see Reggie Bush last year) or didn't make the cut (see Tim Couch, 1999) as rosters slim and teams get ready to put together their squads for the season. [...]
Without further ado, some new music, new love and new things... A. NEW MUSIC: Check out some dissonant English music here, One more Grain , think James Chance or maybe Gang of Four possibly... Oh my gosh... this music is so pretty. It's raw digital and natural (acoustic) experimentation music. Azeda Booth , hailing from Calgary, Alberta, has some of the neatest music I've heard in a while. And you gotta love that name. I was shocked to read that the vocals are actually male, strained falsetto. I usually hate falsetto vocals, but it works here. The beats are nice and down to earth. They sent me an email, and at the end, it said, "Let us love your ears!" Well, Azeda Booth, my ears love you, too. Check [...]

Morgan, of Azeda Booth, sent me their new EP yesterday and I can't get enough of it. He gave me permission to stream the entire EP for you guys so that's what I'm going to do. I doubt it's an exclusive at all, but I got your attention didn't I? Azeda Booth's very short, but very good new EP at times sounds like Boards of Canada combined with the Books, while other times sounding like Bjork mixed with Sigur Rós. The EP opener "Aislinn Bos, Y" fits the first combination of instrumental bands and begins the 13 minute [...]
I haven't done one of these in a while, so I'm spicing things up. The Marlboro Chorus - Love is in love The Marlboro Chorus - Who's the Liar The Marlboro Chorus, from all appearances, has been recording together for four years now, but have received very little blog attention considering the quality of their four recordings - think thoughtful instrumentally-driven indie rock with solid harmonies and, of course, the catchy factor. ( Website / Buy Records ) Azeda Booth - Dead Girls So, [...]

I really like this track by Calgary band Azeda Booth . Plus, their website is pretty great. These damaged pop stylings, musically and lyrically, create an interesting and original environment. Their new EP, recorded while the band was still a 2 piece, is out currently. Looks like they've evolved into a full-fledged band now so it'll be interesting where they go from here. ::: Aveda Booth - Dead Girls [ Azeda Booth on myspace .] [ Official Azeda Booth website .] [ [...]

Described by band members as "an interstellar Japanese blend of post-neo-futurecore pop," the songs on their upcoming EP, Mysterious Body, feature an equal blend of electronica, melodic guitar and founding member Jordon Hossack's searingly feminine vocals. The result is an extremely textured, borderline-ambient sound reminiscent of Aphex Twin and Sigur Ros. (gauntlet.ucalgary.ca) Genre : Post Rock Mp3 : Dead Girls / Aislinn Bos, Y
