Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk — Helicopter Soup The consistently rad Bridgetown Records just rolled out with their Spring sampler , which collects a handful tracks from their latest batch of tape releases. There's not a band song in the bunch, but Baby Birds ' "Helicopter Soup" left me particularly floored. Drew, from one of my new favorite bands BBDM, over the weekend sent another track off of the band's latest album, Skeletor & Me . The track is pretty different sounding than some of the other songs that I've posted here from the album as this one is a lot more noisy, chaotic and distorted (or was that Soundcloud messing up). The Midwestern foursome Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk create airy post rock with a sampled feel, occasionally adding in elements of loose meandering folk. I got a chance to listen to their Puppycat EP, which has definite influence from Feels -era AC, and could sit happily on a mix with Sore Eros and other lush neo-psychedlia. Maybe it's just because I get a Nick Jr. vibe from their name and song titles, but I can picture these songs being written amongst empty pizza boxes and Blockbuster rental cases.
