[ Lick My Deck ] Thomas Melchior's once restrained release schedule, which only occasionally exceeded one record per year, befit a master of patient, subtle grooves. But in the wake of his landmark 2007 sophomore album, No Disco Future , the gaps between Melchior releases have shortened considerably. Not only has the period given birth to the Cinderfella alias, it's seen Melchior venturing further afield from his home base at Perlon (while still contributing two [...]

Peter Ford aka Baby Ford is a british house legend..,particularly known for his contributions to the birth of aciiiiiid house . He has also released material under the aliases Cassino Classix, El Mal, Solcyc, and Simprini Risin'. Ford was influenced by Bicep hero's such as Marshall Jefferson , Ron Trent , Armando , and Larry Heard , being a key player in bringin' the acid house sound to our shores. He later went on to be a pioneer in the 90s minimal movement with the like of Ricardo Villalobos releasing purist stripped back [...]
Our second guest dubstep mix comes from Dubliner Eomac , aka Ian McDonnell, who has extensive experience moving dancefloors and shaking walls with the !Kaboogie collective over the past few years. His recent EP on Hsuan Recordings is already one of 20112s essential releases and with more productions in the pipeline Eomac is definitely one to watch. For this mix Ian has put together a varied selection of tracks from different styles, showcasing his own genre-jumping DJ skills and presenting some of his own productions. STATE [...]

Two today. S'Express and Quadrophonia; with remixes by Baby Ford and Speedy J. S'Express we've had before . But not Quadrophonia (Lucien Foort & Olivier Abbeloos). All a bit euro dance pop from 1990. But it does have an early Jochem Paap production - who we know better as Speedy J . Quadrophonia's Myspace site says: Olivier Abbeloos/Lucien Foort Olivier. Abbeloos Always interested in music and started to learn how to DJ at age of 13 when he got a DJ setup from his parents. He thinks he started producing at [...]
This is a rare mid-day blog posting. You can thank my job's horrible IT department for giving me the downtime in the middle of the day was required for me to put this together. New Order 60 Miles An Hour [Supermen Lovers Remix] Someone Like You [James Holden Heavy Dub] Someone Like You [Futureshock Vocal Remix] I found a New Order single I didn't already own! Yeah, I'm shocked too. This is later New Order, so I guess it's not as [...]

Two acts today. Baby Ford and Dub Federation. Some proper acid house and some indie house (if that isn't a term I've just made up). Baby Ford has featured here a few times before. Baby Ford (real name: Peter Ford) makes experimental minimal techno and is one of the founders of the U.K acid house scene. He has been releasing tracks since the late 80s. The featured release is a remix of very early underground hit "Oochy Koochy" (1988). It comes with the exhortation "Warning: Beware of expensive imitations calling themselves "acid"" and "The Definitive UK [...]

S'Express was Mark Moore. They were one of the earliest UK house acts to have big hits in the pop chart. And there's a Weatherall remix to be going along with. Performing under the name S'Express, young British DJ Mark Moore scored a number one hit in his homeland in 1988 with "Theme From S'Express," a record that helped pave the way for the subsequent hegemony of the sampladelic acid house sound on the pop charts. Moore released an album, Original Soundtrack, in 1989, strongly influenced by [...]

Minimal Man brings together two artists featured previously on Acid Ted - Peter Ford (see Baby Ford ) and Ian Loveday (see Eon ) who sadly died in June this year at St Mary's Hospital, London from complications with pneumonia. Minimal Man started in 1993 on Guerila Records. This was an odd choice, given that neither Peter or Ian had any connection to the Progressive House sound that had made Gureilla's reputation by 1992. Their Minimal Man EP (1993) is a good but not great piece of work. It doesn't [...]
Monsters of Folk are on Conan right now, wow M. Ward, the singer from My Mourning Jacket, Conor Oberst and...some other dude are in a band together? Well fuck me sideways we just found the cure for insomnia. They just to throw in a dude from Death Cab and maybe the guy from Iron & Wine and they might create aural death. I'll stick to my synthesized bullshit thank you very much. The Other Two Selfish (That Pop Mix) Selfish (The Single Mix) [...]

[ Autoreply Music ] ( buy vinyl ) ( buy mp3s ) It's difficult to mention Baby Ford in 2009 without feeling the need to also discuss the passing of his longtime production partner, Ian "Eon" Loveday. Ford's Trelik label was established primarily to release his work with Loveday, whether solo or together as Minimal Man. Loveday also lent his talents to the now seminal Baby Ford & The Ifach Collective project. Although the frequency of their collaborations tapered off after the turn of the century, one imagines the bond between them [...]

Art by Beaston [ Vakant R ] ( buy vinyl ) ( buy mp3s ) It's somewhat beyond me why we're just now hearing the second remix package for Onur Özer's Kasmir album two years after its release. Though it might seem a bit redundant, we've not heard much from the young Turk since Kasmir , so consider it a long overdue stopgap. Tardiness gripes aside, Özer will have bought himself a good chunk of time by enrolling [...]

Art by Peter Chmela [ Perlon ] ( buy vinyl ) Baby Ford once said, "Voices on tracks have always been part of the sound, but that's all it is, part of a whole sound." "Gravy Train" and Soul Capsule's "Waiting 4 A Way," a track Baby Ford co-produced with Thomas Melchior in 2007, help us to understand this relationship of parts to wholes when it comes to vocals and instrumentation. There are similarities between the voices on "Gravy Train" and [...]

Baby Ford, Baby Ford.. Глубокий бас и беззаботные синти рифы, кислотные секвенции и сладкие засэмплированны е голоса - это все UK house конца 80-х.. Под музыку Baby Ford и Mr. Salt сложно не пуститься в пляс! Baby Ford - I Love It Baby Ford - Crashing Baby Ford - Ford Trax

[ Trelik ] ( buy vinyl ) ( buy mp3s ) A collaborative project between Baby Ford and Ian "Eon" Loveday birthed way back in 1993, Minimal Man have released a dozen or so singles for such labels as Perlon, Trelik, Guerilla, and Vinyl Solution. But it's been "Make A Move," originally released in 2000, that has taken on a life of its own via mixes and DJ sets over the years, enough so to justify a welcome repressing eight years later. Never a big hit, "Make A Move" has proven to [...]
The US has Detroit Techno or Chicago House. The UK has been easily as important to dance music's development, perhaps moreso in the early 90s when the US didn't take on music that was seen as predominantly black or gay. But no-one talks about Sheffield IDM from the huge inluence Warp Records and their artists had. So, good for Baby Ford for having a track with a sense of place... umm... Wigan. Baby Ford (real name: Peter Ford) makes experimental minimal techno and is one of the founders of the U.K acid house scene. He has been releasing tracks since the late 80s. He's released four full-length albums, including the debut 'Fordtrax' (hugely influential for UK techno/house DJs) and 1997's 'Headphone Easyrider', one of his more listener-friendly albums. His recent work has appeared mostly through Trelik and Ifach - two of the UK's most highly regarded techno labels, and both of which Ford has a hand in managing (Trelik with Eon's Ian Loveday, [...]
