When we first posted Baby Monster we made a tongue-in-cheek comment about how they were destined to be one of those 'buzzbands' on the blogosphere. Bringing a quietly anthemic feeling, lyrics about the world ending, and sweet synths, this Baby Monster track drips with youth. There are nice alternations for the fickle at heart: a house beat fluxes into a breakbeat, and distored vocals tag-team a falsetto voice that borrows from Sigur Ros. Baby Monster did one of the damn perfect remixes on the Wolf Gang's 'Pieces of You' single a couple of months ago and are now back with something a little more personal, with their first solo release in 'Ultra Violence and Beethoven'. And what a stunner it is. It's slightly reminiscent of MGMT but a lot darker and almost industrial in parts. And then there are the soaring vocals of the chorus that could be Sigur Ros.
