The Mountainside Inn nestles right up to the steep slopes of Telluride Mountain. It's hard to find a building that isn't close to the green and rocky slopes that cradle the town, but that's just Telluride. This weekend would be Back Door Slam's first time to the area, but only a small stop on a tour that has lasted for over 200 shows and had them supporting the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Rusted Root just to name a few. Davy Knowles (guitar, vocals) spent the day checking out [...]
After spending much of the last few months splitting time between summer festivals and Kid Rock , Back Door Slam will join forces with jammers Gov't Mule for the band's upcoming "Kinder Revolution Tour." The two-month trek, scheduled to begin in October, will mark Gov't Mule's first full-length tour in nearly six months and the first with newly recruited bassist Jorgen Carlsson. Back Door Slam on the other head, will use the dates as their final performances before returning to the studio later this year to begin work on [...]

It was Etta James who said it best this past Sunday as she proclaimed, "We are in heaven" to the sold out weekend crowd. This year's Blues and Brews Festival marked the 15 th year that the legends of blues, rock, and soul have descended on Telluride Colorado. It was this year that also brought the largest audience to the Town Park, especially on Saturday, the day in which people could sample, over 50 micro brews while listening to the tunes of John Butler Trio , [...]

Kid Rock just began his Rock & Rebels tour, and now has added thirteen West Coast concerts. The new leg of his U.S. tour will start September 6 in Grand Junction, CO, and wraps on September 28 in Phoenix, AZ. The Rebels tour, with classic southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd and new-comer, Back Door Slam (an amazing British three piece blues-rock band) on most shows, kicked off August 8 and runs through August 31 in Hartford, CT. The newly-announced September dates will feature Rehab as the supporting act, with Rev. [...]
I met a middle aged guy named John outside the club waiting for the show who struck up a conversation. He tells me he heard Back Door Slam's [ Official Site , Myspace ] " Come Home " on the radio and thought he heard something promising. Having grown up on artists like Hendrix and Clapton he tells me he hasn't heard a group worthy of similar status in a long time. He seemed skeptical that this band would be it but figured he'd give them a try anyway. Similarly I [...]

I'm back from the beach and it's time for another weekend of shows. Plenty to see this weekend, so no excuses. Come back Saturday for Amos Lee, Nicole Atkins, The Spinto Band, O'Death, Cheers Elephant, and The [...]

It's another summer weekend in the area and that means plenty of shows to choose from. Here's what is on tap. Most of the bands are doing us a favor and playing two shows this weekend. The big tour rolling through right now is The Hold Steady . They have new album hitting the shelves in the middle of July (already available in e-format on iTunes), so expect some new songs with your old favorites. Birds of Avalon , also supporting a new album released back in [...]
Oh boy! The Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco has added more artists to the line-up. Adding to the anticipation is Lupe Fiasco , The Black Keys , Stars , Jackie Greene , Kaki King , Liars , Nicole Atkins & The Sea and Culver City Dub Collective . These additions are exciting for me because I bought the full festival ticket. However, if you're eying a certain day, single day ticket sales go on sale this THURSDAY, MAY 1st [...]

What a crazy week. It actually snowed in Atlanta, enough so that a friend of mine was able to make a mini-snowman. My brake lights stopped working, thanks to a well-known design fault in the brake pedal switch that activates them. Thankfully, the repairs were covered under a recall, and the snow melted before the lights went out. Except for the Counting Crows, this week's artists are all pretty much new to me- and they're all great. It's like a musical vacation for your ears. Start out in the UK with the slowhand blues of Back Door Slam's [...]
H ere is another installment of our comprehensive Lollapalooza 2007 MP3 preview. And if you happened to miss them, you can also view parts one , two , three , four , five , six and seven as well. So what is up with Drew Carey being the new host of The Price Is Right? It is an (ahem) interesting choice to say the least. Drew Carey, really? Good thing Lollapalooza is outdoors because it seems that the governor of [...]
