Mr. Meeble just returned home after a whirlwind 18-date tour throughout Europe. It's really exciting to see a talented band from Phoenix make the hop across oceans and play countries like Czech Republic, Servia, Spain, and Portugal. The tour was reported as a successful endeavor and they're now ready to finish it off with their last Phoenix show for the year. The show is a 21+ event at Crescent , which means you can expect some booming sound to go along with Meeble's laser show. I'd recommend arriving early, as the all-locals lineup is worth skipping out [...]

We were on vacation this past week, hence the sporadic posts. Here's a belated Tuesday edition of our Sunday Sampler to help keep your iPod rotation fresh. Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. [tweetmeme] In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler will offer a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. The album recorded last year with Danger Mouse, David Lynch and Sparklehorse finally sees the light today, a full year since legal battles prevented the original release of the album, Dark Night of the Soul, last summer. Since that time, the producer, singer-songwriter, musician and indie icon Mark Linkous (aka, Sparklehorse), and another Dark Night [...] Related posts:Five Anticipated Summer Releases, Vol II: SSLYBY, More Arcade Fire, Oberhofer, School of Seven Bells, Admiral Radley Five Anticipated Summer Releases, Vol. III: Washed Out, Sparklehorse & Danger Mouse, Chief, Jaill, and Menomena Ears To The Music, Vol I: New Songs [...]

Happy free music for you today! The sun is shining, the birds are singing. How great is it that summer is finally upon us! The following songs are fucking terrific, my personal favorite being Finale from the band Funeral Party . Here's the deets on the bands we're featuring today! Funeral Party is a four piece band out of Los Angeles. It seems like more and more bands are sprouting out of the evil-est city in the entire United States. Yes, not my favorite town, but no hard feelings for the bands of [...]

gucci mane - "lemonade (back ted n-ted remix)" (download) Ryan Breen is a prolific guy. Over the past few years, as Back Ted N-Ted , he's done records with Coppe' , worked with Chronic Future , Brothers Backword (Passage & Mike Busse), remixed and toured with Imogen Heap , contributed songs to awesome little 73 compilations and still found time to record an amazing record (rumored to be titled A Jet Made [...]

As the local music scene continues expand and begins to garner more national attention, it's great to see people making moves to continue moving things in the right direction. I was pretty happy when I heard the news that Modern Art Records and Common Wall Media would merge under the Modern Art Records name. Warner Music Group distributes MA's records and the label is extending their reach into the New York market with the opening of a Brooklyn office. They're still going to have a heavy presence in Phoenix, and are releasing only local bands thus [...]
This past Tuesday I got the chance to see Imogen Heap's sold out show at The Granada Theater, one of Dallas's most beloved venues. The show was fantastic. She mainly stuck to songs off her latest album Ellipse, released less than two months ago. She did an excellent and very unique version of the fan [...]

I came pretty close to caving in and buying some Turducken for Thanksgiving this year. One friend suggest Tofurkey . In the end, I read about some place by my house that offers a Cajun turkey. That's not the best part. The best part is that the turkey is fried and I feel zero remorse about purchasing said turkey. Now to work on those fixins. I'm shooting for an later afternoon, early evening type dinner. The early games promise to suck wind. The Cowboys versus the Raiders and Lions versus the Packers. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ [...]
The Brothers Backword " Stupid Intelligent Mixtape " is by far one of my favorite things to listen to lately, and it will no doubt get TONS of play from me this summer. The boys have put together this really well done video which documents the making of this amazing eardrum-pleaser of a mixtape. Be on the lookout for the Stupid Intelligent EP dropping this summer, and do yourself a favor...if you haven't already, GO DOWNLOAD THE FREE MIXTAPE !!!!!! myspace

[ February 13, 2007 / bookmark ] SONGS ABOUT BUILDING MP3S: Based out of Columbus, Ohio, the Abandon Building label has posted over a dozen tracks from its half dozen albums thus far. Highlights include Back Ted N Ted 's "Opening Credits" ( MP3 ), in which a mix of acoustic and digital drums provide a rough blueprint for tentative melodic play, and Crillix 's "False Starts," which follows a similar blueprint but at a quarter the volume and half the speed ( MP3 ). Also recommended are Color Cassette [...]
