Photo By Brushback Yesterday afternoon I headed out to my second home Philly's Barbary to catch DC hardcore dudes Coke Bust. The place had a decent amount of people going, and all the opener's I saw were solid. As par the course for Sunday shows I've been to, the crowd was pretty tame (which was a bit surprising since it was fucking Coke Bust... but I was totally there too, feeling really
Magrudergrind and Despise You are teaming for a too-brief tour this September, and while I know that a very small amount of you live in locations that will allow you to attend, I wanna make sure that those of you who can go to one of these shows do go. Because these bands are awesome, [...]
Welcome to My First Show, where we give bands a chance to talk about the first shows they ever attended -- no matter how uncool and embarrassing those tales may be. Chris Bonner and his wife K... photo by tapsjg Like California, Los Angeles has been rebuked and scorned in book, film, song, musical, vaudeville, pretty much every medium dating back to protozoan wall art. It's easy to hate LA. I don't have much of a problem with the city, beyond traffic, but the entertainment-industrial complex is a whoremaker chewing up everything in its path like a tornado made of assholes. I get the hate. So, let's channel that hate into song. Bicycle Thief - L.A. Country Hometown [...]
Tomorrow - Saturday, April 17, 2010 is Record Store Day, so support your local shops! But this post isn't about your five-dollar town, this is about Dallas. As always (for the past 10 years, at least), Good Records is coinciding their anniversary with the day as well and is putting on numerous bands and going to have a pretty full day. Hit the jump for more info for the Dallas Good Records Record Store Day. Link to the Good Records event page here . [...]

The shops may think that Christmas starts in mid October, but we all know that in reality you should only start preparing on 1st December with that first choccy in the advent calendar. So as a way of starting off the musical advent (and I'm in no way religious, but enjoy a reason for a gluttonous festival as much as the next man), we have a little Christmas/winter indie mixtape from the kind folk over at XO Publicity . A little change from the Slade/Wham/East 17 that you"re all hearing elsewhere. We've always done a [...]
Today's free and legal mp3 downloads: XO Publicity has put together a free and legal album of holiday music, XO for the Holidays: Volume II . Since today marks the unofficial opening of the Christmas and Hannukah season in the US (and since my wife will finally consent to holiday music being played in the house), I thought it a good day to share some festive music. THe BAcksliders : "Christmas (Doesn't Have To Be So [...]

Hit the jump to find out what's up with what for the weekend in and around Dallas, TX. Thursday, August 13 Judas Priest and Whitesnake | Nokia Theater Corey Smith | House of Blues The Backsliders | Boiler Room (Denton) Friday, August 14 [...]

The set gathers four live LPs and includes the "long-awaited release in stereo" of Live At The Rainbow 1973, [...]

With the passing of Michael Jackson yesterday, the music world lost one of the greatest artists in history. People around the world are mourning the passing of a legend and celebrating his life, career, and unmatched artistic legacy. We here at EAR FARM are spinning his four essential albums all weekend ( Off the Wall , Thriller , Bad , and Dangerous ), debating how best to spell "ma ma say, ma ma sah, ma ma mah coo sa," and one glove dancing until we can't one glove dance no more. If you're looking for [...]

I'll be honest. I was somewhat underwhelemed by THe BAcksliders' 2008 release, You're Welcome. It was weird, I thought. Here's this raucous, straight up rock 'n' roll band--one that's pretty darn gre... Continue reading "Download: Two New, Improved Tracks From THe BAcksliders" >
Ah, Friday. If this were 1993, I'd be gearing up for a badass night of TGIF on ABC. But, alas, it's 2008. Luckily, there's plenty of live music to take in all weekend long. Some pretty good. Some no... Continue reading "Good Friday: Rodney Parker, The Happy Bullets, Ivoryline, The Lashouts, Mad Mexicans, Somebody's Darling, THe BAcksliders, Days of the New, Scuba Team Go, Big Chief" >

I like the E Street Band. And, sure, I can get into The Sopranos . So it's kinda natural, I guess, that I like Steven Van Zandt , whose weekly "Underground Garage" radio program can be heard Sunday nights on 92.5 KZPS-FM. Teen Vogue , though? I'm not exactly that magazine's target demographic, I don't think. But, then again, I wouldn't imagine rock 'n' roll fans to be in that magazine's wheelhouse either... Which is why news of this competition --a music competition run in tandem by Lil [...]
