Deitch's latest foray into the noncommercial is "Black Acid Co-op," an immense, labor-intensive, maniacally contrived walk-through environment. A warren of some dozen rooms, interiors and passageways, it includes a burned-out home methamphetamine lab, a red-carpeted gallery of pseudo-artworks and a hippie haven. Like Alice's rabbit hole, "Black Acid Co-op" will take you as deep as you want to go, especially once you recognize the careful attention to detail throughout this mammoth effort. Nothing is accidental. Its disparate spaces sustain ever-closer readings and parsings, like a series of archaeological sites in perpetual excavation, and there are frequent cross-references. [...]

This week, the Popstream gives dap to those who've gone largely dapless this year. First up, LA spaz-proggers Bad Dudes.
I like Bad Dudes , and I KNOW you guys like Bad Dudes too, cause everyone likes Bad Dudes. And your google searches prove it. I like RTX . They played at the Prospector with Tweak Bird many moons ago, and I totally missed out because I didn't know I liked them. I was pretty pissed about it, which is how you're going to feel if you miss them tonight. I like Earthless but iono if you guys like Earthless. I don't [...]
by beatmasterspeech (LA) On the local heroes front, the Los Angeles blackened metal band Lightning Swords of Death will be laying waste to the Relax Bar tomorrow night. If you are a fan of 1349 and the like, give these guys a shot-- pure evil from the city of angels. Also, if you haven't heard of LA's fucking hard rockin' RTX , I highly suggest you get your ass down to Spaceland this Saturday to be wowed and plowed. They have that something special that reminds you of [...]
The Good: Ratatat - "Shiller"; It looks like Ratatat are blasting off into the future for their next release LP3 which will feature this song, a song that I can't listen to without dreaming of sci-fi movies. It's an easy link, with high pitched synth sounds being thrust on us in a cinematic fashion, it seems like it's destined to be the soundtrack from some Sc-Fi channel original. I can already

You know, just the other day I was thinking to myself, "Man, there just aren't enough DIY bands that prog the f*ck out in the middle of their punk jams." Then I put on Eat Drugs, the latest album by LA's Bad Dudes, and decided, "Man, it's probably a good thing there aren't more bands progging the f*ck out in the middle of their jams." Few bands could pull off this eclectic, unpredictable, and intricate mix of punk, prog , and electro without sounding like mangled mess [...]

What a fun time we all had at "Rock with a Twist" last night. Raves to Mary Monolator for making such a wonderfully large assortment of yummy pretzels and to CGT for promoting the heck out of the show and making such a great PSA. Thanks to Going.com, LA Weekly, Rock Insider, RFSL, YSTS, and Pasadena Star News for mentioning the show. Also, thanks to all those who took the time out of their busy

I just realized we haven't done one of these since the re-launching of Consequence of Sound . For this, I apologize, but it does mean you now have a wider selection to choose from. Who do you like? Let us know and we'll feature them on the site... "Brocay" - The Little Ones "If You Want To, You Have To" - Dosh "Stadiums Are Ok Too" - SKEW [...]

The fan-made video for "Eat Drugs" by LA's Bad Dudes is such a cool idea, that I am surprised no one has done something like it before (maybe they have?). The song itself is a prog-tastic rock and roll party anthem with silly lyrics, but when it's synced up to footage of various classic rock performances, from Klaus Nomi to Journey, then it really becomes ridiculous. Also, since most of these artists were probably on drugs at one point, it makes perfect sense. I seriously can't stop watching this! [yt] http://youtube.com/v/6rlN80roX d0[/yt] [...]
California rocker's Bad Dudes will release Eat Drugs, the followup to their 2006 self-titled, debut album, on April 22 via Retard Disco. In support of the release, the band has unveiled a new music video for "Eat Drugs," the album's first single. Bad Dudes currently have quite a bit of tour dates scheduled. A European tour [...]

Alright, we made the obvious joke (obvious to any kid who grew up in or near an arcade). Bad Dudes, the L.A. band not to be confused with the 1988 video game, are about to give us another dose of mind-altering synth + guitar riffage with their latest oddity, Eat Drugs . It just so happens we have the first leaked track from the album, which happens to share its name with the album: Bad Dudes - "Eat Drugs" Maybe we should do as we're told. [...]
