T his one was harder. Yeah, I threw in some Allister and managed to dig up a killer track from an old Dynamite Boy album, but this one was hard. Probably because most of the obscure old stuff I wanted to pull out and put on here are on CD's that are packed away in a storage unit. Until those boxes are unpacked, I think this will be it for the series. We hope you've enjoyed it and that you'll join us again next time. MP3 | Lifetime [...]

Bad Religion - New Maps of Hell Punk. Not Skate Punk , not Sportz Metal but Punk. Do you remember what punk stood for? Punk used to be about activists calling us to action. Anarchy, uprising, question authority, throw your hands in the air. It's the 'wave them like you just don't care' bit that is the problem. Bad Religion haven't forgotten what punk is, but their latest album, New Maps of Hell , gives me the impression that they have realised that everyone else has. [...]

When the bombs start dropping I wonder if I'll have what it takes to survive? The other night my neighbor cornered me in the hallway and started talking about preemptive cautions. "I think we should invest in stretchers." That scared me, so I walked back inside the house and immediately turned on the television. Christina Applegate was on the screen eating a Clown Dog , and my panic quickly subsided. The exchange with my neighbor got me thinking about a few things. The kind of things a guy thinks about after reading some Huxley . [...]

Sono distrutta this morning - a bit destroyed (it comes out in Italian, I don't know why). But happily so, the after-effects of seeing a fantastic show last night with Ike Reilly and Tom Morello. More on that later, but portions were near magical. I will try to gather my Monday thoughts coherently on all of your lovely behalfs because there are some great new tunes this week. Into The Colors [ video ] Ben Harper Soulful songman/insanely good Weissenborn er [...]

T hat's right, Bad Religion is back with another new album called new Maps Of Hell . Although it is Bad Religion's fourteenth politically-charged full-length album the band shows no signs of slowing. Yes, there have been bumps along the way, but on New Maps Of Hell Bad Religion sounds as focused and energized as they've been since I was in high school. Both the wife and I were big Bad Religion fans back in high school and just loved Suffer , Generator , Recipe For Hate , [...]

America! Fuck yeah! And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free! Bad Religion - American Jesus LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out Of This Country

The Glass House at Pomona hosted the kick-off party for the Warped Tour this year. The much-anticipated UK buzz band, Gallows, was set to headline the show that night with a couple other acts on the bill, including a "special guest". I made it in time for Big D & The Kids Table, who did a fantastic job reminding me why I ever enjoyed ska. I gotta say that as much as I love me some pop music, the energy that punk and ska artists deliver get me jumping and bouncing and loving that style of music all [...]

(Foto: Nn. Allen vorran natürlich Against The Grain , was sich enorm [...]
I love Mother's Day. My wife Alexandra makes me very happy and has given me three beautiful boys. What I hate is that I get no relief. Between the tree pollen inside and the flowers spiting out god knows what inside I am getting hammered. The problem is that its all in my throat. no medicine for that! Song: Everlasting Artist: Refused Album: Everlasting Comments: People think Refused are "all that". I need to take them in doses. I can listen to the Shape of Punk [...]
I'm pretty much always happy to profit from enlightenment by noble Athenians and/or swashbuckling powerpoppers from the Leeds/Wakefield/Doncaster fleet, hence the first two twangerplunkers below. ("Supernatural" comes as a bit of free booty over at the FP website, so get your own over there post-haste and check out what I left behind.) Brooklyn's The Boggs I just stumbled onto at the generous AOL
Song: The Double life Artist: Rainer Maria Album: Long Knives Drawn Comments: When Rainer Maria pumps out the music they are fantastic. When they slow it down for their horrible ballads then it gets boring real fast. You might think this song is ballad-y, but it's not. The chorus is great with all the cymbal crashing. This band is just great on a bunch of levels. They broke up in 2006. Song: Fertile Crescent Artist: Bad Religion Album: Generator [...]

Maybe call me slow, but I just found out that Neil Young started a section on his website awhile back called Songs Of The Times , and there are over a 1000 free tunes you can listen to from various songwriters known and unknown. All deal with the timely subjects of war, patriotism, our foolish leaders and the state of the world we are living in. Here are just a few tracks that piqued by attention, go visit Neil's Living With War site here for [...]

mp3: Stranger than Fiction Dear Bad Religion- This joke is so past its prime but did you see the movie Stranger Than Fiction? Everytime i would talk about that movie I would have to bring this song up. I feel like posting it now gives me a sense of closure so i never have to feel like i need to repeat that joke again. Thank You. Nathaniel smart dudes in punk bands

Bad Religion For Dummies Ver. 1.0 I think it's fair to say that most aspiring young punks know who Bad Religion are or have heard of them. But like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash and basically every other formative band of modern punk rock, their merchandise is coveted more than their music. People want to appear as if they know these bands. Well my theory is that you should be able to say you own an album or [...]
Welcome to this week's edition of Politics Tuesday. The subject for today is global warming. It will be a (slightly) shorter entry today, since working on this substitute computer is really cutting into my efficiency. I've spent several years of my life studying fossil fuel consumption, the politics of energy, and climate change so I could talk for hours and hours, but I'll try to keep it minimal now and go into more detail some other time. In particular, I'm going to completely ignore the way our fossil fuel dependence shapes foreign policy matters (support for [...]

Much like Lucas did before, I have decided to wait an unreasonable amount of time before finishing this double-post. Also like Lucas, I have built up anticipation for what will end up being a disappointing finish. After being spun around in space in his modified TIE Fighter, Darth Vader got a little pissed. He needed some ways to relieve his stress. First he took out his anger on Chad , his younger brother. After that he tried his hand at conducting . Eventually though, he decided it would be best if he shifted his [...]
