I am guest DJing with Travel Keller Wednesday night at The Bar (aka "Bronson Bar" at Bronson & Sunset). Come out, have some drinks, and listen to some good tunes. 5851 Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA

Louisville's VHS OR BETA returns to Kentucky this month for TWO SHOWS. On August 22nd they will be at the Mad Hatter in Newport, Kentucky. Bad Veins and All Day Holiday will open. Then, one week later, on the 27th, VHS or BETA returns home to play at WFPK's Waterfront Wednesdays with another local favorite, Ben Sollee, and Ashville, NC's SeapeopleS . I'll probably save my money and the trip to Newport and catch them at the Waterfront show with Sollee and SeapeopleS. [...]
Last year The Death Set took all of 17-minutes to capture my ears for a good portion of the year. Their debut EP, Rad Warehouses Bad Neighborhoods played constantly on my headphones and as it drove me through my commutes and days I fell head-over-heels for The Death Set's brand of instant, in your face, dance-able, punk music. It was brilliant, it was quick, it was made for the ADD generation!
For those who have been wondering when we're going to get back to posting our recently taped Tripwire Acoustic Sessions, don't worry... they're coming soon. Rather than get all boring and technical about the issues, we'll just reassure you all that plenty more are coming soon, so hang tight. In the meantime, On The Cover alums Bad Veins were kind enough to allow us to post a MP3 from their session for the track "The Lie." Since Ben and Sebastien had never performed acoustically until this performance, consider this a rare treat, which [...]
Yesterday's Hot Freaks opening day went very well. In the words of my wife , "I didn't hate any of the bands." High praise, indeed... Stop by today for the free festivities at the Mohawk and Club DeVille in Austin. Today's free and legal mp3 downloads of artists playing the Hot Freaks SXSW day party today (Saturday): The Mohawk (outside) 12:00PM - Bad Veins : "Gold And Warm" [mp3] 1:00PM - [...]

Sadly, The Wheel's Still In Spin will not be going to SXSW this year. But we can still dream. Here is a list of the bands that we would most like to see at SXSW for Wed, March 12, 2008 . There are links to each artist's band page at SXSW.com with a short quote, when available, from the band's bio that appears on that page. 5PM - [...]

Photo by Kristen Lidell Okay, that's not entirely accurate - we knew exactly where Hot Freaks 2 was . And the first one . And that's where part the third will be as well - next month, coincidentally running at the same time as a certain music festival in Austin, Texas that shall not be named for we have no affiliation with that event whatsoever, at Club DeVille and The Mohawk (aka "the best bar in America" ) on March 14 and 15 from noon till 6PM, across two venues and [...]

If you are living on the East Coast and already know about BAD VEINS from Cincinnati, Ohio, then I salute you. I might be a tad late on this one . . . I blame my location. I wish I could live in NYC for a few months out of the year . . . that way I could cover both coasts and not miss out on awesome new bands like this! (thanks to M H for the tip!) I know, I know, I've been pretty quiet lately. No better excuse than real life keeping me occupied. I'm overdue for a couple of live music sets, but first, one of those overlong catch-all content posts I randomly rattle off. Subjects below include Geoff Farina, Neptune, Helms, Chris Brokaw, Drew O'Doherty, Ida, the Secret Stars, The Thalia Zedek Band, Mark Robinson, David Bazan, Loney, dear,
This new year is already 4 months into building serious steam and it really is amazing how quickly the days seem to get away from us. Do you have your 2007 favorites list started yet? I only have a few previous artists in the running at this point, and can now honestly say that today's featured musical duo are definitely worth consideration. It was only just this past

Just got my hands on the brand new one from Cincinnati duo Bad Veins . The boys spent some time up in Virginia over the winter recording some new material and if this is any idication, the new album should be excellent. Have a listen to the track, Gold & Warm below. Head over here to see what we wrote about Bad Veins previously. Bad Veins - Gold & Warm Technorati Tags: Cincinnati , Bad Veins
Like a sad Strokes after inheriting a vintage synthesizer from their great-grandfather's will... Bad Veins just finished professionally recording a new EP. It should be out soon and you should hear about it a lot. Youtube Link MP3 - Afraid (Demo) Youtube Link MP3 - Afraid (Demo) [...]
Well, I finally found a (now) local band for myself to fawn over. As those who actually read this know, I've been looking for good music in Cincinnati since I moved here last week. Sure I've featured great and well known artists from the area in the past, but it seems a bit different now that I reside in the heart of the Queen City. Today's featured gem is only a demo track if you
Tomboyfriend - "End of Poverty" (5:39) "You're a smash. A Pony. A Head case." This song is scrawny, and stubborn, and dirty. It's underdressed, shows up late, and is a loud drunk. It waves and yells to friends from across the street, and borrows DVDs and button-up sweaters for years at a time. It eats terribly, chewing on a pizza slice with a golden grin. It's one charming motherfucker. But a motherfucker none the less. [site] Bad Veins - "The Lie" (3:54) If I had an older brother, and he were named Henry, and he went away to school when [...]

I had heard mixed reviews of Bad Veins ' recent NYC shows, so I made sure that I didn't miss their WOXY lounge act earlier today so that I could hear for myself. And I gotta tell ya, I thought they sounded great. Maybe it was the performance aspect of their shows that turned some (few) people off, because I can't see how they could have been disappointed with their music. Anyway, the super quick WOXY folk have the mp3 up already, so go download it: Bad Veins [...]

Myspace Bands of the Week: Yeah that's right this week I'm making it plural because I've gotten a ton of requests and I really want to show off some of these bands. Hope you enjoy them!!! Bad Veins are two dudes and one ancient recorder from Cincinnati that make some of the more interesting music I've heard this year. Using vocals that came off scratchy and distant thanks to being sung through a megaphone or old telephone, simple but solid percussions, and Irene - a 1973 Pioneer reel-to-reel recorder, the [...]

Cincinnati, OH Bad Veins is Benjamin Davis and Sebastien Schultz. All I have right now from these guys is a demos EP, but I can't wait to hear what they do next. Looks like they'll be playing a few dates in Brooklyn and NYC in the middle of November, so be sure to catch them if you're in that area. "Falling Tide" Bad Veins on MySpace
