Darlings, wouldn't you love to have a copy of the Bad Veins poster?!? I think I've got three to give away. (Actually I'm still waiting to see what it looks like, but I think it's gonna be cool!) All you need do is drop me a line with your name and address and they're yours. First three people win. I'm going to hear Bad Veins perform "Gold and Warm" (and more!) on Friday, I'll let you know just how fantastic they are live. But let me tell you now, reports from my blogger friends are more than wonderful.
Bad Veins live show is a very interesting thing. The two person band from Cincinnati, Ohio manage to recreate the lush, orchestrated sound from their album on stage. Captivating and energetic, it's hard to know who to look at as an audience member of a Bad Veins show as both drummer Sebastien Schultz and singer/guitarist Benjamin Davis demand your attention, albeit in very different ways. Schultz drums with the energy of at least three enthused punk drummers while Davis's mannerisms imply that he truly does believe the words he's singing as his guitar cuts and [...]

JEMINA PEARL REVEALS DEBUT LP Jemina Pearl , our favorite rioting, rambunctious, rancorous ex- Be Your Own Pet frontwoman shotgunned our faces off last week with the announcement that her debut LP sits ready and raring to rend our ears straight from our smiling mugs. We've already listened to the excellent ' Get Awkward -era' tracks posted on JP's Myspace page (the summery, subversive edge of "Ecstatic Appeal", the bouncey, shredding brain-addled boogie of "Heartbeats", and the croony, garage-rock mashup of "Nashville Shores") and with the release [...]

When we first got wind of Bad Veins back in 2006 , we were pretty excited about the possibilities for these guys. After all, they were immediate standouts here in the Cincinnati area with their unique and polished sound. We had Ben and Sebastian into our studios that December and then again in 2007 as new material from the guys began to make its way into their repertoire. Since then, the band have had a roller-coaster of ups and downs while trying to get their full length out to the [...]

I'm told that the above is a factually based reenactment of an actual discussion with Doug Morris from Universal... the poor guy is so clueless he doesn't even understand what EAR FARM's Free Music Fridays are all about. Awww. But you do, don't you? That's right, we're back again with another selection of songs and compilations that have come our way in the past week - all free, all legal. Some are EAR FARM favorites, some might be more your bag than ours, all are free for you to enjoy... just click the band name for the [...]

Oh, indie rock. Not only filled with so many talented musicians but also wrought with so me of the prettiest guys I've ever seen. Alot of men are good looking but it's something else to be pretty. A pretty guy, to me, is the entire package - Incredibly good looking, talented, smart and charismatic, it takes alot to be pretty. It's been my long standing opinion that Will Sheff is the prettiest man in indie rock and after my last post, a round up of recent indie rock news items that culminated with Will [...]
Sigur Ros and Riceboy Sleeps have enabled us to look at Iceland in a new light. We saw ambient, oxygen-fresh instruments painting what we have come to see as Icelandic indie music. When Seabear came ... No related posts.
There's been a fair bit of hype generated around Cincinnati indie duo Bad Veins. The public gets to see if it's worth it now with the release of the band's debut album Bad Veins. The short answer to the question is a resounding no. Most of the tracks on the album are unnoteworthy mid-tempo numbers. Songs like "You Kill" and "Afraid" are middle of the road alternative rock derivatives. Some

[MP3] Bad Veins "Gold and Warm Enjoy the Bad Veins Daytrotter Session here! First, it must be said, that Daytrotter does some fanstactic graphical work. Their band "photos" are, and have become, an easily recognizable staple of the blog world. Their lastest victims, Bad Veins , who's self-titled debut released Tuesday, has been making a splash; incorperating etheral guitar lines and punchy vocals reminisent of The National's lead singer, Matt Berninger, Bad Veins deserve the press. See tour dates after the jump. [...]

Lucia Holm It's been not quite two years since the release of Nicole Atkins' debut album Neptune City and even taking into account the relentless touring that followed, you'd think she's about due for a new record soon, right? As she tells Spinner , work on the follow-up is well underway with 38 songs written set to be pared down to a baker's dozen for the record. But whenever it does come out, don't look for it on Columbia Records; according to the New Jersey singer, she [...]

Cincinnati duo Bad Veins , a new addition to the roster at L.A.-based Dangerbird Records, release their self-titled debut today. My take on the album is that, while it's lacking that one song you might remember in 2010, it's catchy, clever indie-pop — imagine the Killers with much fewer resources but lots more imagination. Here's the single: ||| Download: "Gold and Warm" ||| Watch: The video for the song here . Also out today: [...]

For a few years now Bad Veins have been on the verge of making it very big. In 2007 they burst onto the scene thanks to the strength of their single "The Lie" and a couple of raved about CMJ appearances, then faded a bit as they recorded their full length debut. Earlier this year Dangerbird Records snatched the guys up and now with the release of their self-titled debut they are poised to finally make good on all the promise and potential they built up two years ago. Right from the start [...]

Erin Hill and her Psychedelic Harp w/ The Space Rats CG: Although a New Yorker these days, Erin Hill is originally a Louisville girl and was glad to be back in town with her gang of diverse artists, from JP "Thunderbolt" Patterson originally of seminal NY punk band The Dictators to the gorgeous Meena Cho who Erin met while on tour with Kanye West, and several other incredibly talented artists with side-projects galore. While hip hop wouldn't immediately come to mind with a harpist [...]
