If you were lucky enough to have spent the weekend in Halifax for HPX, you probably heard the buzz of the crowd and the fuzz of the guitars calling you to Gus' Pub on Friday night. We were all there to celebrate Pigeon Row 's birthday. Friday night was a culmination of five hard years for the East Coast's home for working class heroes and underdogs, and the simple fact that Gus' was packed to capacity (with some people even opting to walk on the ceiling) with fans and some of the biggest names in Canadian music, shows PR [...]
![[Listen/Download] Bad Vibrations- Black Train](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3771790_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Let's listen to something a little bit "darker". Halifax's Bad Vibration brings to us a sort of dark rock with riffs that sound quite evil. I feel like I'm in a movie scene walking away from an explosion when I listen to What Now . The track comes off their latest Black Train which will have a limited vinyl pressing of only 300. Bad Vibrations- What Now Check out the video. I was too scared to [...]

*Yes, it has been over two weeks since Kanrocksas but I still have videos to upload.* The Black Angels brought their psychedelic rock sound to the Ad Astra Stage early Saturday afternoon. I was looking forward to seeing them. I had missed them play in Lawrence earlier this year. A modest crowd endured the heat to catch the Austin, Texas band. It actually may have been the perfect time for them to play. The crowd wasn't quite in party mode yet for the day and the heat made the group's chilled, psych grooves feel just right. [...]

I was going to take a hiatus until the New Year and then focus on new records, but I realized I missed a couple good local releases that deserve some attention. The first is the free download / split cassette from Bad Vibrations and Bloodhouse , a "holidaze" treat if you will. KC Spidle is no stranger to Halifax's scene, but this power packed punk rocking three-piece is my favorite of his musical persona. Catchy as hell, heavy guitar rock; the soundtrack for basement make out sessions, draining every drop [...]
Austin psych-rock quintet The Black Angels released their long-awaited third LP, Phosphene Dream, via Blue Horizon two weeks ago, and now the band has announced that they'll be offering the digital album for just $5.99 on their Facebook page all week. The offer, up now, will run until 11AM on October 5th. The Black Angels also [...]

Words by Brendan Sullivan Categorizing bands into genres feels like false advertising. I can say that The Black Angels play generally dark, guitar-heavy, psychedelic rock music and that may turn you on or off already but trust me, there's something in their sound for everyone to love. Not only that, but this is the kind of music you should really try to see in person. Of course, it's great to listen to anytime: you can lay back and let the droning guitar/keyboard melodies and thumping percussion lull you into a trance, [...]
Austin quintet The Black Angels premiered their catchy new single "Telephone" on Spin.com today, and they'll be selling it exclusively on iTunes starting next Tuesday. "Telephone" is the second track that the psych-rock group has offered from their long-awaited third album, Phosphene Dream, which hits U.S. stores September 14th from Blue Horizon. Download and share The [...]

A cool new song buy psychedelic TX group The Black Angels . The song, Bad Vibrations will appear in the full album, due to be released in September. The two previous albums of theirs, marked their way to the top as one of the great Spaceman3 / Velvet influenced bands around. This is not to say anyuthing about originality, because they are. Read my two cents on Passover The new song, [...]
A few days ago we posted the first track off Black Mountain's forthcoming album- you can check that here -and now that their fellow dabblers in pyschedelia, The Black Angels, have loosed the very nearly meta-titled "Bad Vibrations," the first from forthcoming album Phosphene Dream, due 9/14, it's looking more like the fall will feature a tonal shift from the presently dominant fuzzy sun-pop. The Black Angels - "Bad Vibrations"

We've already beat you into submission when it comes to Saturday's scorching Seahorse sets (alliteration, you know you love it). Toronto's The Balconies are blogging their way across the Maritimes and partnering with some stellar local talent to make sure you get rocked. Cold Warps and Soaking up Jagged are two acts familiar to many local music lovers, but the diamond in the rough for this show is Bad Vibrations . Led by front man KC Spidle ( The Hold, Husband & Knife, Dog Day ), for [...]

You Should Know Refugees from San Antonio, Brian Purington, Eric Gibbons, and Sean Seagler formed My Education in Austin back in 1999. While the band flirted with the idea of vocals initially, they decided to have a go at it as a purely instrumental outfit. After adding keyboardist Kirk Laktas, viola virtuoso James Alexander, and guitarist Chris Hackstie, the band recorded 5 Popes , which peaked at number one on many college radio stations here in the states. Back with a new release entitled Bad Vibrations [...]
