There are some experiences that put you firmly in "before it happened" and "after it happened" territory. Experiences that define how you look at the world. And they always seem to be experiences that you never saw coming. That was the five-month break I took from You, Me & Everyone. I'm a prizefighter, or didn't I tell you? (Part 2) When it came time to pick cars, it's no wonder I hopped into Matt's off-white Camry. It was hot. Too hot and I knew [...]

Bowski is quickly becoming a favorite here at Hot Biscuits. It's like the other, smarter half of hot biscuits said "It's like a Style of Eye meets Boy 8 Bit meets Voodeux meets Nadastrom…". That's pretty much how I'd explain these two new tracks. I can't believe he isn't signed yet but there's no telling what is going to happen if he keeps making straight up hits like "Flip Flop" and his remix of Bagheera's "Circadian Clock". I mean, screw it, his tracks are so good I might as well start a label and put them out. [...]
Bagheera are an unsigned band from the University of Liverpool , quickly garnering a reputation and some well-deserved momentum following their first gig in May and the recent release of their free four-track, the Hollow Home EP . They already have a Steve Lamacq BBC6 single of the week and a Guardian new music feature under their belts, as well as flattering comparisons to Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear . The music is dark and choral, with electro-acoustic melodies shuffled underneath almost totally inaudible vocals. The [...]

BBC och The Guardian).

I cannot get this song out of my head. Bristol's electro/tech producer, Bowski , just put out a new remix for fellow UK alternative/folk band, Bagheera . The fix reminds me a lot of Fake Blood's bouncy synths. Check out this track, and stop by Bowski's myspace to show your support.

Unsigned bands these days are like wasps in that there's always too many and most never seem to do a whole load beyond creating a Myspace page resembling a malfunction inside Dreamcast, befriending a load of clichéd monotonous indie guitar bands in the vague hope of a support slot in Coventry and bunging on a collection of three ever-so-slightly morbid bedroom demos. Not that wasps do the Myspace bit... The value of such a contribution to this collapsing world seems to verge on the irrelevant when (almost) every song ever committed to black plastic can be streamed (or illegally acquired [...]

BAGHEERA are bringing some awesome, spacey indie folk rock to BBC's ears. Hailing from Liverpool, the 3 members, (Jacob, Sam and Tom) are currently studying music at the University of Liverpool where they have been working on their debut EP Hollow Home Self-produced and self-released, Hollow Home has a great mix of beautiful guitar arrangements, ambient textures and haunting vocals. When you listen to the album you can't help but be blown away on how pretty their music is. A tad on the folk side, but if you need to relax, I highly recommend [...]
Remember Bagheera...from Jungle Book? Perhaps not, but the black panther from Rudyard Kipling's classic novel served as the inspiration behind the name for an upcoming three-piece indie band comprised of students at the University of Liverpool, and that itself should be giving the name additional meaning soon. The band have only a four-song EP to their name, but Hollow Home is an excellent introduction to their ear-catching style and I imagine it won't be long before people are taking notice. It's easiest to name-check Grizzly Bear in association with Baheera's sound, and though they wear that [...]

It's weird how a particular type of music will take off out of nowhere. Last year the pastoral harmonies of Fleet Foxes hit the blogosphere and the band took off like a rocket. With that type of success is often followed by imitators aping a sound that they hope will get them noticed. I mean, if it worked for Creed it has to work for other bands, right? While Bagheera does sound a lot like the Fleet Foxes the harmonies they at least throw in a little [...]

Initially listening to Bagheera 's music, one might dub it as minimal. That, however, would be a folly. Digging deeper into the soft vocals and light instrumentation you'll find an extensive complexity in every element added, from the instrumentation and percussion backing the Grizzly Bear-esque "Circadian Clock" to the opening Beach Boys-meet-Yeasayer tonal vocal harmonies in "Horizons Lined With Scars". These songs dabble in experimental folk, playing with melody as well as production. As the groups enters "Old Machine" their sound again morphs, this time reminiscing Yeasayer. But [...]
It is indeed a beautiful morning! Every morning when eating breakfast the radio is on, and from time to time it does happen that some really fine stuff is aired, thus helping to make the start of the day a good one. The "On the radio this morning" posts are my humble attempt to make your start a good one as well!
Bagheera is a trio of musicians from the University of Liverpool. They sound like a cross between the Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear. The band played their 1st live gig in early May and is currently unsigned. "Horizons Lined With Scars" is off their recently released 4-track debut EP Hollow Home . To be honest, something about the email we got from Bagheera's press team threw me off, and I began listening to their music with a bit of respite. Thankfully, that feeling wore off quickly, as listening to the hazy, devious sound from the Liverpool, UK boys put me in the right mood on this rainy-turned-less rainy day. They describe themselves as comparable to Grizzly Bear and Yeasayer. Yeah, reaching for the sky pretty hastily. But um... they're kinda, well, right . The music is experimental and ambient (and has some prominent electronica here and there), as they're [...]

The heat has been almost unbearable in Denmark the past few days, and I cannot recall that I've been drinking this much water ever before. Hopefully the happy people attending this year's Roskilde Festival are following my example and drink lots of water and not just beers. Beers are good and pretty fucking close to being the most essential fluid on the planet. Except on warm days like these where it's dethroned by water on the top of that list of essentials. The last time I attended a festival ( this one back in 1995) I had [...]
