On a chilly and regrettably less than spooky Friday the Thirteenth evening, the Parish and Western Vinyl hosted a sold out event of emerging and established local talent. Follow the jump for the full review. The audience was full with family and friends, young and old, who were treated to a sonic experience of the highest order and the way in which Balmorhea , in particular, presented their craft might have caught a few of them off guard. Beat maker Spencer Stephenson's alter-ego Botany [...]

Thanks to all my readers for hanging in there during a year of insane schedules for me that made my updates less than regular. According to the statistics, I've actually lost quite a bit of daily readers this calendar year for reasons that seem clear. I probably haven't posted nearly as often as in past years and not nearly as much new music. Or maybe there's other reasons. But there's still enough daily readers for me to want to continue, so thanks for continuing to come. And if there's a reason you personally do not come by here as often [...]

![[Review/Listen] – Apparat – "The Devil's Walk"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3799209_lg.jpg)
Tweet Buy the album on Amazon - Vinyl | MP3 | CD I'm going to start off this post by being completely honest. I had no idea who Apparat was before listening to this album. As in, I hadn't even heard Sascha Ring's alias in passing. I actually had to Wikipedia him. And when I did, I found out that "The Devil's Walk" is his [...]

Ξυπνάω και κοιμάμαι με την κορώνα ...and I believe / that when we die we [...]
It's a rather thin week for new releases, most likely because it's too late for summer releases, and too early for fall releases. Still, there are definitely releases we recommend, including new albums from Peter Wolf Crier, Gold Beach, Wiretree, Balmorehea, and many others. What can we say about Peter Wolf Crier that hasn't already [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

We are running a bit late today, but here are some new releases that caught our ears; Balmorhea; Live At Sint-Elisabethkerk Balmorhea; Untitled Gold Beach; Habibti Gold Beach; Diving Bell Peter Wolf Crier; Garden Of Arms Peter Wolf Crier; Setting It [...]
Back in the summer of 2008 I first shared with you about a friend of mine that had released an short little self-produced EP called Four for the Road. Well 3 years later Cass Harris has not given up on the dream and is currently working towards a big-time record release. He doesn't want to just settle for another short little EP recorded with his buddies in some home studio in his cousin's friend's mom's basement. He is doing everything he can to do it right, which means not only a legit studio with great equipment but he'll [...]

Botany just released this gem of an EP via Western Vinyl . " Feeling Today " shows Texas-based producer Spencer Stephenson's flair for eloquent craftsmanship, as each song transitions nicely between a variety of sonic atmospheres characterized by heavy melodic layering and repetitive percussion. Fans of Gold Panda , D33J , and Balam Acab are likely to dig this. Check out our favorite track from the EP below as well as a solid remix of Balmorhea or buy the full EP here . [...]

From their new album Live at Sint-Elisabethkerk, released on Western Vinyl. "Though Balmorhea's studio recordings never fail to impress, their songs have always been most powerful and affecting when performed live. The group's intense soulfulness during a live set is consistently remarkable and this special recording from Ghent, Belgium is no exception." [WV] Download "Untitled" Free Music, Every Day. Balmorhea - Unt1tled Austin's remarkable Balmorhea is a post-rock, instrumental band that recently recorded a live set from Ghent, Belgium at Saint Elisabeth Church. They've released one track from the live album 'Unti1tled' a gorgeous three minute track with drips of gorgeous intimate sound and reverbs from the recording within a massive stone church. Its a beautiful three minutes, and begs you to grab the whole album. Grab Live at Sint-Elisabethkerk
On the final note of Balmorhea's set at Saint Elisabeth Church in Ghent, Belgium, a reverberating snare hit bounces out into the holy stead, drifting lonely for the split second between the band's abrupt stop and the crowd's raucous applause. It's a disarmingly powerful conclusion to "Untitled," the sole unreleased track on the contemporary ensemble's [...]

When I was in Nashville last week, Real Estate were playing at the local Hard Rock Cafe the one night I was free and I wanted to go but I was miserable, it was just my third day in my boot and one of those days had been spent on airplanes and walking around massive airports while a second day had been spent on a warehouse floor, in the most intense pain I'd felt since I first injured my toe some 7 weeks ago (admittedly much of that pain was in my knees and ankles and the rest [...]

Austin outfit Balmorhea have got a new album due out and we've got a song from it for you here. 'Untitled' is a beautifully orchestrated sound which will fill the wide-open spaces (imagine if Sigur Rós were influenced by the wilds of Texas rather than their native Iceland). The album, 'Live at Sint-Elisabethkerk' is out on September 6 through Western Vinyl, and you can listen to the track here: 'Untitled'

Everyone needs to have Daytrotter on their favorites, as their attention to detail and their selection of some of the best bands around is always a constant on the site. Today, the site offered up new tunes from local Austin favorites, Balmorhea . The majority of the set comes from the latest Candor/Clamor single release by the band, but they also tossed up an unreleased song that I've been enjoying all morning long. If you're a fan of the band, and you should [...]
