Bambara: Repeat After Me Athens GA's Bambara make rainy day music. Not grey, drizzly, Iron and Wine-type stuff, but music for crackling lightning and gale force winds. They dropped their Dog Ear Days EP back in August, and it's been righteously battering my eardrums for the better part of this week. In terms of reference points, these guys mine the vaults of 90's post-punk, emo, and shoegaze. Other reviews have hit the nail on [...]

Hypnotic is not a term one often associates with punk, but Athens-based trio Bambara fit both molds. At times ethereal and dreamy, at others ferocious and noisy, Bambara mixes elements of the post-punk revival with modern shoegaze and psychedelic noise. Dog Ear Days is a bit of a mystery as its mere existence possesses something strangely magical. "Repeat After Me" opens the EP with a wild, looped noise riff ripe with feedback that continues even as the aggressive drum beat begins [...]
For a lot of indie rock fans, today marks the official release of one of the most anticipated albums of the year. That would be Arcade Fire's first album in three years, and the Montreal's band third studio LP since forming in 2002, The Suburbs. A few advance singles from the LP have been making the [...] Related posts:Five Anticipated Summer Releases, Vol II: SSLYBY, More Arcade Fire, Oberhofer, School of Seven Bells, Admiral Radley Five Anticipated Summer Releases, Vol. I: Japandroids, Panda Bear, Arcade Fire, Wavves, Stars, plus Indie Lullabies CD Contest New Music from One A.M., [...]

Between the many great albums out this week, coupled with those missed from last week, going to the record store would provide quite the headache in what to pick up other than Arcade Fire's latest. Obviously, the band's third album, The Suburbs , is what everyone will be primed to pick up today. Though, I would definitely recommend the new Autolux album, Transit Transit , along with some excellent releases from Best Coast , The Magic Numbers , Menomena , Young Galaxy , and Versus . [...]

Athens, Georgia trio Bambara are a noisy band, which we mean as a compliment. They conjure up a nice line in rhythmic aggression with ethereal walls of sound, delay loops, feedback and distortion. Crucially however, at the heart of each track there is a nice little pop song beaten and buried. Tomorrow they release their new EP Dog Ear Days via Emerald Weapon , and we have a taster for you in the form of Stay Gray . In parts ambient, in parts shoegaze and with a nice flourish of post-rock psychedelia [...]
![[Mp3] Bambara: “Repeat After Me”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2714398_lg.jpg)
Now that chillwave has come along and saturated the hype-o-sphere, previous indie music trends such as nu-gaze and post-punk, which were so hot 2K6-8, have fallen quite a bit out of fashion. But one of the best records I've heard from the state of Georgia this year comes with a healthy dose of both anachronistic sounds, creating a seemingly perfect-matched hybrid that still feels fresh despite not conforming to the current fads . As long as excess effects and massive dynamics shifts don't harsh your buzz too much, Bambara 's newest record, Dog Ear Days , should not [...]
I'm back. Not for the first time, sorry for the silence: it's partly due to this still being a shitty period in my private life, and also just because I've been stupidly busy with other journalism, job applications, weddings and work. I don't want this to be a blog where I go quiet for huge gaps and then apologise for various reasons, though; in the end, I need to try harder. And will. (All that being said, I am away on a holiday soon...) Anyway, here's the first Monday Music for a month or so - five [...]

Photo Source July's Hardcore Mixtape has set it's sight at making you feel like a billionaire. This mixtape, not purely created for the love I'm feeling for Travie McCoy's radio hit, is also my way of cheering all those people working their assess off the dull workplace just to get through the day. And even more cheering for those who are doing the work they love despite the meager salary. Yeah, we've all been through that crap once in our lives, so kudos to all you busy bees! [...]
This afternoon, thousands of music fans will make their way to Chicago's Union park for the sixth edition of Pitchfork Music Festival . As Consequence of Sound is partly based in Chicago, having a festival in our own backyard is a really big deal for us. Needless to say our coverage of the fest will be top notch! But for those of you who won't be able to make it to Pitchfork, our Friday Mixtape has arrived just in time to make sure everyone receives a little extra somethin' this weekend. [...]
