See that image on the right, there? That's the egg of what is known as a cowbird, a bird which, a little like a cuckoo, tricks other birds into raising its young and therefore is able to avoid doing any fucking work itself. I hope you can see how I would think this a suitable image to illustrate a rant about fucking remixers. I was actually intending to use a picture of a parasite to illustrate this particular post but, honestly, I couldn't stomach the Google image search. It would have more accurately illustrated how I [...]
I often find that a band name will hinder my appreciation of a band. Quite regularly, a band name will be so good or witty or clever that the music struggles to live up to it. I suspected this may well have been the case with Norwich's Bambi Get Over It, but thankfully [...]
Wednesday, July 23, 2008 Did anyone see Pitchfork's review of the Black Kids' Partie Traumatic? It was just a picture of two dogs that said "sorry." Now, over the course of the last year or so I've quit giving their full reviews any real credit, but this bugged me. Why not at least write a paragraph that's a rant or something? I don't understand the reasoning behind such pretentious laziness. Anyhow, while you ponder that I advise that you [...]
You know the drill. It comes in my inbox, and sometimes I even write about it. 01. Oceansea - This Daniel Catarino guy gets around. He has two bands and Oceansea is his solo project (apparently he thinks he's Stars, ha ha). The guitar work on "Breathing" made me happy because it put me in mind of the New Ams and my secret punk rock boyfriend (Matt Pryor) but leaving aside my peccadilloes, Catarino has a very nice voice and a pretty turn of phrase. The low-key guitar does sound a [...]
Bambi Get Over It - Bad Man The night is ancient and you're sitting across the table from the impersonation of mystery, that one person in the world you'd trust with everything. Why you trust them is something you can never quite pin down. Between you, time is growing restless, made young again. The moment stops. To ask "who's going to save me now?" is to make some excuse, run into the grimy bathroom as a red herring. You find yourself looking—not at the "Bad Man" now sitting alone at the table—but at [...]

Bambi Get Over It is a young band from Norwich, UK. Even though they just formed in October, they have already put out a 5 track demo. After checking them out, I am pretty sure they would pass the female band test of our own Ashleigh. A combination of folk, rockabilly and indie rock? Check. A bad ass front woman? Check. A killer lead single... you get the idea. Expect much more from them in the near future. For now, enjoy "Badman." mp3 : Badman
A great set of tunes for you this week. I'm in a great mood today mainly because York City FC have signed a decent goalkeeper to replace our dodgy one thus giving us a fighting chance next season. I normally feel quite disappointed when the football season comes to an end and the prospect of two months with nothing to moan about becomes reality but this year I'm delighted. Such has been York's season that I was praying for it's end back in January when it was all to clear that not [...]

Let me tell you a story. Are you sitting comfortably and all that? I was an amiable child, never prone to tantrums and was always happy to go along with whatever my two older brothers wanted. At the age of three, my brothers and I were taken to the local cinema to see the latest Disney film, Bambi. It was probably my mum's way of distracting 3 young boys for a Saturday afternoon but as with any cinema trip my ma had to fork out for a whole heap of cinema refreshments. Now, someone in my family - i don't [...]
Apologies from your bloggin' bro-sefs; we've both been out of town, away from computers the last week. Our many apologies. I'm going to throw up a quick few updates now, and then more as I get caught up. Look for this to be one of our biggest weeks in IIG blogging history! The news: Coolest thing [...]
Fuck me, I'm glad that's over with. Did you find that as dull as I did? Four consecutive posts about major bands on major labels that you could all just as easily have read about in Q Magazine. I even liked the Elbow and REM albums, but I still felt slightly dirty [...]
Some more hot unsigned action on Song, by Toad: this time Norwich's Bambi Get Over It. Norwich? Apparently. They describe themselves as folk merged with rockabilly indie. I'm not one for directly quoting PR emails particularly, but there's not much way around this description. Perhaps if an old American folk band went completely fucking nuts. [...]
