Bambu once again teams up with Kid Heroes Productions and Xylophone Films ("Crooks & Rooks" and "Old Man Raps") to bring you the brand new music video for "Books (feat. Prometheus Brown)." Directed by PATRICIO GINELSA. iTunes: ...One Rifle Per Family. - Bambu http://www.bambu.la http://www.prometheusbrown.com http://www.kidheroes.net/bambu http://www.xylophonefilms.com

Congrats to Bambu for having a definitive entry on our year-end list of the best videos of 2013. His new visuals for the Prometheus Brown -featured "Books", off last year's ...One Rifle Per Family , is f*cking perfect. As if the smoky performance portions of the clip weren't good enough, the whole thing plays out like a sitcom straight out of the '80s, static-y footage and all. If you're not digging this by the end, you might not have a soul. Watch the video below.

Los Angeles based emcee Bambu released his latest EP project The Lean Sessions today (via OkayPlayer ). The tracks were produced by local producer Karman, a former student of Sessions LA who also produced Lean on Bambu's album …One Rifle Per Family . What started as a collaboration on Bambu 's 2012 album, ...One Rifle Per Family , soon gave way to a full-on project between the Los Angeles rapper and producer Karman. And one listen to The Lean Sessions EP showcases just how well these two work together. Bambu uses the sample-heavy, warping backdrops as his plaything, flowing in and out of the pocket and making some sharp cultural observations. The "dying of thirst" part of "Coffee In My Left" had me rolling and scribbling to write his words down. Yeah, people still do that. [...]

I always love seeing Slug make an appearance on another artists' tack. It brings out a side of him that I don't think we always see on an Atmosphere record. Jake One steps in to spin this one and does a hell of a job like always. Take a listen and let us know what you think.

Seattle rhyme slinger Grynch has returned with a brand new remix featuring the likes of Bambu and Slug (of Atmosphere ) over a smooth backdrop provided by Jake One. Grynch is still riding off his solo release, Perspective , and "Mister Rogers" contains verses that pretty much encompass each MC's respective neighborhood. Grynch recorded his verse in Seattle and goes into his distaste for the Oklahoma City Thunder whiles Slug touches on what he's known for, Southside Minneapolis love. As for Bambu, he tells us to fix our "f*cking stares" when [...]

The legendary DJ Muggs , of Cypress Hill, will release his latest solo effort, Bass For Your Face , tomorrow. But before it hits shelves, he's sharing a full stream of the aptly titled album that features a slew of PIMB regulars including Danny Brown , Roc Marciano , Public Enemy frontman Chuck D , Bambu , and more. It's definitely a step in an interesting direction for Muggs, and we'll be sure to offer a full review on the project in the next few weeks. You can stream the album at [...]

Los Angeles-bred emcee and social activist has returned with a video to accompany a free loosie titled Brave Heart. Original produced by ESTA for his Bananas! EP , Bam' took the instrumental and decided to get busy over it. Featuring part-political part-bravado rhymes, Pacquiao knockout references and Pacquiao advice, this track definiatley makes me want to go back to Bambu's recently released full length, ...One Rifle Per Family , which is a great listen.

Listen: Bambu - Boom ft. Thurz In the title line of my favorite track off Public Enemy’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Chuck D boasts, “I’m even lethal when I’m unarmed / ‘Cause I’m louder than a bomb.” More of a traditionalist, Bambu acknowledges that the sword (or the AK) can be an effective attention-getter when the pen (or mic) alone doesn’t work. On new single Boom, the Los Angeles emcee reminds us that revolutionary rhetoric must be paired with the readiness to act, spitting, “When you say [...]

Bambu - One Rifle Per Family Beatrock Music: 2012 The inherent danger in rapping from the top of a soapbox is that the person doing it will invariably, in some manner or other, fall from it. Just ask Lupe Fiasco. Food and Liquor (the first one) made unending promises to heads who sought a firm moral center inside mainstream rap. But at some point Lupe the apostle morphed into Lupe the evangelist. The transmission of noble ideals were drowned in the cacophony of the rapper’s own hype which is how we ended up with the [...]

Danggg, this new Bambu got me riled up. After ten years of solid grind in LA, I'm glad he is finally getting some attention from all over the country. Sounds like a whole lot of time went into ..One Family Per Rifle. and it says a hell of a lot, so listen up. Happy October 8th, did I mention #fuckcolumbus? Bambu - Upset the Setup (ft. Killer Mike) Download audio file (bambu_setup.mp3)
Soul Assassins affiliate and smog city (L.A.) native, Bambu dropped his latest full length, One Rifle Per Family , today and to celebrate, he released the video for the latest single, Rent Money. With a dope beat from Chops, a feature verse from the mother of his child, Rocky Riviera, and the video featuring their son, watch as this family fights for money for schools rather than prison. The record features a lot more social commentary but do not confuse it as " armchair activist catnip ". Bambu explains on the record that the music is just raising awareness and claims [...]
