new and off the second blahblahvampire soundtrack, Band Of Skulls offer "Friends". this one is a stomper, and unlike that death diamond track, this single must have been tracked before their food got tainted with jack white roids. it's fixin' to be the holiday season, and for this we are thankfull Band Of Skulls - Friends myspace buy it here rating: 7.5
The New Moon soundtrack has already proved to be quite a big deal. If you need any evidence of this, just ask the 153,000 people who helped the effort hit #1 on the Billboard Top 200 . But as it turns out, the fun is really only getting started. On November 6th, four of the soundtrack's participants, Sea Wolf, Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina, and Band of Skulls, will perform at a special Twilight: New Moon event at the Hollywood & Highland complex in Los Angeles, California. A [...]

This song from Alberta Cross's debut full-length Broken Side of Time has turned out to be a favorite of mine, with its spooky instrumentation and Petter Ericson Stakee's ghostly hoots and wolfy howls. This is a pretty decent album too-a good way to use up your eMusic downloads. If for some strange reason, I was asked to put a formula in an excel spreadsheet which would equate to the Band of Skulls, it would go something like this : Band of Skulls = sum(Cold War Kids, a strong cocktail, Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen Q, 2*hip thrust, Jack White/6 ...

John-Scott Croly skipped along to Wimbledon's Watershed to see Band Of Skulls ( above ) support some people called The London Punks t'other day week. Hotly-tipped Southampton blues-rockers Band of Skulls were this show's not-so-secret support act, squeezing in a quick one on their way back home for a well-earned weekend off. They blew the sweaty roof off the Watershed's dank back room - not that any of the 20 or so glass-eyed punters noticed. Without their own following, the trio had to make do with the headliners' early crowd [...]

Alright, let's get one thing straight: I neither condone nor appreciate the Twilight phenomenon. I have read the books so I have very real reasons behind my dislike for the series and to keep this blog from becoming a twelve paragraph rant about the feminism and morals of Twilight, I won't go into it, you'll just have to trust me on the fact that Twilight is not a good thing. A few months back, when it was first announced that the soundtrack to the second installment of the film quartet would featuring Thom Yorke, Death Cab for Cutie and Grizzly [...]

Frank Yang When I reviewed Wilco's latest Wilco (The Album) back in July , I alluded to the absurdly tight musical chemistry of current lineup and how that effortlessness could actually be perceived as a detriment to the band. The same can be said of the band in performance - yes, they are arguably one of the best live acts on the road today, but with that praise comes certain problems. Like say you've seen said band, oh, a dozen times or more in the past decade [...]

So you have probably heard that the soundtrack to the sequel for a certain emo vampire love story has hit the shelves. Yeah, you know the one. I don't have many rules for my blog, but mentioning the title of that particular film or any of it's sequels is,in fact, expressly forbidden by the Certain Songs by-laws. However, I am a huge supporter of some of the bands on that soundtrack, most recently and passionately Band Of Skulls. So, I definitely wanted to pass this tune along...haven't heard the full record yet, but the lineup is pretty amazing...which [...]

I might as well just re-christen this 'The Twilight Blog' since I seem to be rabidly gobbling up anything related to it. Well, that might be a wee bit of an overreaction as this is only the second Twilight-related post I can recall, but it's only been a day since the first one. I don't want to turn into a tween again, as I seem to recall that being a rather awkward and unpleasant period. There will be no sipping of Clamato 'round these parts, per se. [...]

Reviewing this album is bittersweet for me. For one thing, I hate all the hullabaloo that Twilight has brought along with it. It’s taken over so much of the media lately, and I’ve been sick of it since it started. When I saw the list of artists that were contributing to the Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack , my heart sank. Not because they were bad, but because they were oh so good, and the fact that they’d jumped on the Twilight bandwagon irked [...]

First off, check out a track from the soundtrack of that wildly popular Vampire movie with the girl from Panic Room, who is older now, and always looks 'shoe-gazey', and is always doing the angst, tussle with my hair, thing. The track is titled "Friends", by Band of Skulls. The soundtrack also features songs from Thom Yorke, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Grizzly Bear, and Sea Wolf. You can preorder the album HERE , before the October 20th release date, courtesy of Chop Shop. [...]

It's been an entirely too long week for me, and I've only barely managed to scrape together a mixtape. Hopefully, things will calm down soon enough, and I'll be back on top of things, until then... I read a cool piece at The Rock and Roll Report today about British rockers Band of Skulls . Here's one of their tracks below, a crunchy White-Stripes-meets-Gary-Glitt er stomper called 'I Know What I Am'. I love the gender traded vocals. Shame about the "hotel...Taco Bell" rhyme, though. :-) Band of Skulls - I Know What I Am The band's debut CD is ' baby darling doll face honey ' After their current UK tour, Band of Skulls will be [...]
