"Hailing from Atlanta and ready to take over the world: it's Treasure Fingers " Treasure Fingers, born Ashley Jones, is the freshest disco house DJ and Producer from the city of Atlanta. He has been making it big in the disco with remixes and original tracks. Jones is nothing new to the scene however, he has in fact racked up over a decade of international club experience and studio chops as part of the legendary drum & bass group, Evol Intent. Under his [...]
by teepoo Jef Barbara is a chillwave artist from Montreal. This song Larmes de Crocodile is so chill that you forget that it's not in English. There's something quite narcotic, and erotic about this. Jef Barbara- Larmes de Crocodile Check out the no-budget video for the song!
Simply Grand Music, a Memphis soul label distributed by The Orchard, scored a sync placement for "Pity A Fool" by Barbara & The Browns in the film 388 Arletta Avenue starring Nick Stahl and Mia Kirshner of The L Word. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September, and has ...

Monday 16th May will see the release of the debut LP from Barbara Panther . Sitting somewhere between Bjork and Fever Ray her sound is one of those unique and engrossing styles that it's becoming harder and harder to find. If the video below, for album track Moonlight People, is anything to go by then the self-titled record, produced by Matthew Herbert, promises to be one of the most captivating of the year. According to the press release Panther and Herbert create ' dark and exciting sonic landscapes, fraught with vivid [...]

Four-piece electro-folk band Barbara released their "Robopopironica" EP last summer, but it wasn't until they released their cover of Kid Cudi's "Pursuit of Happiness" that they've perked some ears up. The song itself has been covered numerous times, but unlike most versions, Barbara's is nowhere near amateur. Derek Stephens is a classically trained pianist and folk singer, and Frank Eybsen is a hip-hop producer. Think Bon Iver plus Kanye but without the cocky MC and limitations of only a chorus. Joined by Betsy Moyer (who is no stranger to singing hooks on rap tunes) on vocals, keys and [...]

If you happen to live in Los Angeles, Barbara is playing their first show in Santa Monica tonight. They are playing at a little club called Central S.A.P.C (which used to be 14 Below) . They will be going on a little after midnight, but you should get there earlier than that as Chasing Kings will also be playing some awesome tunes. The cover is $10 and they'd like it if you said you were there for Barbara. I also heard that they will only be playing new songs from their upcoming album. If you [...]

Raphaëlle Lannadère (for she is L ) was 'biberonée' with Barbara and Billie Holiday. I'm struggling to find a similar English expression: spoonfed might be accurate. A biberon is a pacifier. Imagine that, sucking on a device to get two of the most melancholic singers into your system. Why isn't something like that available?! We can put people on the moon, for crying out loud! Anyhoo, the first full album by L (not the greatest nom de plume in history, if you ask me. What's wrong with Raphaëlle ?) is out now. She was featured on the former FS-blog [...]
Now tis is real talent. i just wish the outfit was more up to date. But very good, really short tho.

Namaste Muffins. It is with great excitement that I bring two of the Muffin's closest friends together today in the bakery. Ace Reporter and Barbara have teamed up for a r-r-r-remix that is fresh out of the jam factory. But let me back up for a second... Ace Reporter completed the herculean threesixfive project last year and has released three EP's culled from his warchest of songs thus far. The fourth EP is on it's [...]
Give me a break, Give me a break, Break me off a piece of that kitkat bar I really thought her name was something else.... Anyway, Barbara(?) is a new singer that is so underrated that I know thing about her. So yes, another "Under The Stars" feature. I adore her voice but her album was bit... no for me. I don't understand why voices like this always take a turn like this. This is why there are Rihanna's in the world ppl! Anyway, [...]

Got a lot of goodies here and as usual lately my super-favorites are in bold! Dig in, rock out, and see if you can spot my Web Sheriff baiting. It's been a while since that guy came around! What gives? For more jams by any of these artists use the 'tags' links at the bottom of the post! NEW RELEVENT JAMS ♫ The Kills - Satellite / Mosshart finally gets back to The Kills and we've got a new album on the horizon! Although, I was [...]

The members of your new favorite band Barbara decided the new Jhameel album (available for free) didn't get it's proper shine, so they decided to remix "The Human Condition." This track fits perfect alongside the rest I have heard from this talented Santa Monica four-piece outfit. They're hard at work on their debut LP, careful to include all the right songs. The Human Condition (We Are Barbara remix) by jhameel PREVIOUSLY: Barbara - Unicorna (Demo) [...]

I know all of my readers know the score: I'm from California (where it was 85 degrees yseterday) but currently in Brighton (where it's balls cold all year long). And it's the holidays, so I'm fleeing this cold arctic winter place for the milder climate, but I thought I'd pay tribute to England via a [...]

Today and tomorrow I will post several guestposts in honour of Dia de los muertes, the Day of the Dead (November 2). French songs, of course. Sylvester kicks off with dead leaves on dirty ground. Death brings so many sweet melodies to my mind. It was one the favourite themes of Jacques Brel ('Mourir la belle affaire. Mais Vieillir... ô vieillir !'); Léo Ferré immortalised his deceased monkey Pepée in a song; Renaud scolded the Putain de camion which killed his friend Coluche in a motor accident; a heartbroken Serge Reggiani sang [...]

I've taken a lot of flack in the past for liking We Are Scientists. I'm often derided by my close friends when I mention in conversation that I think With Love and Squalor is a great album. It's an opinion I still stand by, but it's increasingly the case that when I talk about it I have to add a whole lot of caveats and explanations - "just their first album", "I only like their early stuff", "I know, I know; the new stuff's dreadful", and so on and so forth. I'm a man who enjoys standing up [...]
Think of someone famous called Barbara. Got one in mind? Is it one of these ? Well either way there's nobody in Barbara who's actually called Barbara, they've all got dude names since they're all dudes (apart from the one chick who has a chick's name), but they're sure as hell named after someone who's more than likely not a dude. When they sent me their EP it was something that I got into instantly, laden with emotive lyrics, catchy choruses, a mixture of Electronic-New-Wave atmospheres and when Betsy gets on the mic, it's like a futuristic [...]

We Are Scientists debut their new video for the single, "I Don't Bite" off their latest album, Barbara.
