Becky and Nathan Bliss are Barnaby Bright , a Brooklyn-based folk/pop duo blessed with a knack fine songwriting and Becky's lovely voice -- two qualities that are in abundant supply on the title track from their forthcoming April longplayer Made Up Of. We've written before of the "delicacy and grace" of the duo's meticulously crafted melodies and this swoon of a piano ballad, a self-described "song about loss -- based on a true story", is one of their [...]
The gorgeous, blissful vocals of Barnaby Bright 's Becky Bliss are on full display on "Don't Look Down", a sublime and soaring track taken from their new EP Gravity (Mishara), just out this week. Co-written with partner and fellow midwest-to-New-York transplant Nathan Bliss, "Don't Look Down" is one of those songs that make you realize they maybe they do "make 'em like they used to" now and then. More DC on Gravity here . [...]
Barnaby Bright - Brooklyn-based duo of Becky and Nathan Bliss have a way with a lovely melody and some classic folk/pop leanings on their new six-song EP...we caught Becky solo nearly five years and have watched her and Nathan's remarkable growth as songwriters and performers at the clubs on NY's Lower East Side // Release : Gravity (June 7, Mishara) // Sounds like : that special place somewhere between the sleek adult pop of The Weepies and the more intimate harmonied splendor of The Civil Wars...classically-trained vocalist Becky has an effortless, gorgeous [...]
Brooklyn-based Barnaby Bright , fronted by creative leads Rebecca and Nathan Bliss, don't really do things much differently than any number of acousti-pop bands shuttling around the pass-the-hat clubs on New York's Lower East Side. They just do them better. The key elements at play: Rebecca's lovely classically trained voice, able to conjure both the sweet and sultry, and the duo's fine songwriting. Comparable at times to The Weepies, Barnaby Bright find that special place between sophisticated and down home pleasures, a alt-folk/jazz(ish) merger that still bows to classic pop influences. Listen to the way their "Finally Said It" [...]
It was just last Saturday that I was at the Tin Angel for the Chris Kasper and The Great Unknown show. They are some of my favorite musicians and they put on an excellent show. So, seeing Adrien Reju and Barnaby Bright at the same venue on the same day of the week but a week later had a slight déjà vu feel. Anyway, on with the current show at hand. The three member NY based band Barnaby Bright opened the show with a good performance. I really liked their music and [...]

Barnaby Bright. The vocals are stellar. The instrumentation rich amongst picked acoustic guitars. This almost home-spun front porch version of The Weepies begs to be heard on a rainy night during an episode of personal reflection, as Nathan and Rebecca Bliss wrote their first full-length album Wake The Hero with the intent of conveying honesty and hitting "the heart, not the head." It's beautiful
