Oxford Mississippi natives Bass Drum of Death have just dropped some new fuzz via their tumblr yesterday night - and it is sexxxcellent. The track has it all grungy, gritty and catchy. These cats are really rolling with the punches especially after an already successful year and I am stoked for them. GB City , if you guys missed it was the release that came out earlier this year and if you don't have it already - go get it. Although pitchfork only rated it a 6.2, I give it a solid [...]

Bass Drum Of Death just put up a new track called “I Dunno”. Enjoy it’s lo-fi, infectious goodness. The duo are set to hit Europe in 2 weeks, and Aussieland in January. Bass Drum of Death | “i dunno” by 3qtr

Mississippi duo Bass Drum Of Death are a lively outfit, and one soon to be hitting the UK too. How apt then that they give us a previously unheard track "I Dunno" today. continue reading >>

Two piece and no nonsense Bass Drum of Death let loose a new track by the name of "I Dunno". The band let it loose via their Tumblr page which seems to be a more and more popular way to do things, maybe because of their integration of Soundcloud? Or maybe it's just that they like looking at half naked pictures of tattoed women via the ease of the dashboard? Whatever, check out the rough mix from them below and let us know what you think.

Oxford, MS grunge band Bass Drum of Death make simple rock music without a lot of pretense . In keeping with that tradition, the duo recently unveiled the frills-free "I Dunno" on their Tumblr . The simple ditty is super fuzzy, totally catchy, and, as the band warn beforehand, "a rough mix and unmastered, so you may hafta crank it." Yeah, we will. The band is on tour in the UK and Europe next month .

I figured with my previous show being devoted to songs that remind me of sleep, this one would be the opposite. After a few bouts of standard indie rock, things got thick and loud. A shout out to my buddy Brett, for tuning in from Sedro-Woolley. Next time I'll have to add Tullycraft to the list in honor of how we met. The show began with a song off one of my desert island top 5 albums, and ended with a track that's nearly thirty years old. [...]
What’s next for UMO? We start our first headline tour straight after our tour with Toro. Then we go to the UK to tour with Foster the People and then play some dates in Spain and France, then straight to Australia and New Zealand for festivals. That will take us to February when I’ll record my second album. After that we’ll get back on the road.
One Eyed Jacks was the perfect setting for a rocking night with Toro Y Moi and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

What? You don't like ridiculously sold out shows with great tunes? Well, that's unfortunate, as that means you probably missed the mostly excellent show at Mohawk this last weekend. Read a bit more for my thoughts and some great pics. Aside from the rain of the day, there was another damper on the evening, which we learned of as soon as we strolled into the venue: Unknown Mortal Orchestra would not be playing. An unfortunate event dealing with a malfunctioning tour van forced them to cancel, so that sort of sucked, but for my enjoyment, [...]
Seeing three young and hungry bands delivering fresh goods to an equally engaged and curious audience was invigorating. There is a burgeoning scene in town that is very much tuned into these great new frequencies, all very wonderful to see, well worth a groggy Tuesday to kick it down in the Quarter ’til almost 2am...

Beside releasing one of my favorite records of 2011, GB City via Fat Possum , Mississippi's Bass Drum of Death are also one of the mightiest touring bands around these days. This will be my first experience seeing BDOD as a three-piece, but based on the cans of whoopass they opened as a duo, I expect it will get buck. If you are not a fool, you will come see them on 4th of November at the Green Door Store in Brighton [...]

Date Saturday, October 8th Location Mohawk Doors 800p Tickets $14 from Frontgate I've already caught one amazing show over at the Mohawk this week, but even that might not compare to the gloriousness that will be this Toro y Moi show. Chaz has been putting out effortless pop tunes for some time, and lately he's been playing [...]
Chaz Bundick, better known by the moniker Toro Y Moi, makes his return to New Orleans a week from today seven months after having to cancel his highly-anticipated performance at Saturn Bar as part of this year’s Foburg Fest. The prolific 24-year old multi-instrumentalist/beatsmit h has proven his meddle as major player in the indie world right out of the gate ever since sparking an initial blogosphere flicker in 2009. Early this year, Bundick followed the stellar 2010 Causers Of This debut LP with the equally impressive and funkier Underneath The Pine (an album that was also available as a tote [...]
I've always thought it a bit of a weird practice to write reviews of live shows. Like Billy Joel once sang, 'you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine'. And really for the most part the people that care at all were probably at the show anyway. In the case of the review I did for the Bass Drum of Death/Japandroids at Bryan St. Tavern for the Observer a couple weeks ago, however, I guess it could be construed as somewhat useful as B ass Drum of Death will be here again next week . In case [...]

Here's one for you. Harsh, thrashy, garage rock by a band with a lo fi sound, it's Bass Drum Of Death. They've been featured on Vice.com's Noisey, who have made a five video featurette on the band. It kicks off with a bit of an introduction and then has four live songs. If you're a fan then it's definitely for you. If you're not, then you should head over and see what the fuss is about . Here are two songs [...]
Nerve Jamming , the first song on Bass Drum of Death's debut album, hits you in the face. The band - just two guys from Mississippi - doesn't back down either. Every song on GB City is a scorcher. Think of White Stripes or Black Keys at their most raucous points. Like Death from Above 1979 or Japandroids , Bass Drum of Death shows how much sound one guy on guitar and another on drums can [...]
This is what would happen if Jack White, Andrew W.K. and David Johansen held hands during a particularly energetic bathroom break. I drew the short stick this week for critic analogies. Read more » http://rpc.blogcatalog.com/
Official Website | Myspace | Facebook | Twitter Pop Montreal is a decade old. I was there at the beginning back in 2002. I have fond memories of seeing those black-clad New Yorkers Interpol playing their first show in our fair city at the now closed Jupiter Room. The place was PACKED. People standing on furniture just to get [...]
