Minisnap are essentially the legendary New Zealand band the Bats sans group leader Robert Scott. Though one of my favorite albums of 2008, Bounce Around , has not generated much hype around the interwebs. It seems that a group of middle aged kiwis lacking their principal songwriter would deserve a quiet reception, but guitarist Kaye Woodward leads the band through 12 fantastic pop songs. A fruit bat colony has been put at risk when hundreds of pups were abandoned by their mother during heavy storms. More than 300 infant grey-headed flying foxes are being cared for at a bat hospital since they were left to fend for themselves in the last week. It makes no semantic sense at all, either as a clumsy pun, or as some sort of social commentary on the acts' backgrounds?
