Battlehooch is offering up a new, limited edition live EP, entitled Casual Religious . The EP features three favorite Battlehooch tunes plus one new track, entitled "Joke." Battlehooch - "Joke" (live) During Battlehooch's " Desolation " tour of 2010, the band stopped at a venue called the Hobby Shop , a live music space that doubles as a recording studio. The live recordings were engineered by Andrew "Mud" Murdock , and later mixed at San Francisco's own Hyde Street Studios . The band [...]

Tweet Blame the weatherman. Even though people kept going to Bottom of the Hill's rear courtyard and disappointingly peering up into the cloudless, snow-free sky hoping for a once-in-a-lifetime show, the real show was going on inside. After The Downer Party 's poppy, riot girl-inspired punk rock opened the night, San Francisco's own Exray's took the stage. Nominally a duo but performing as a three piece, Exray's have a unique live setup. Instead of a drummer, their percussion is [...]

As Noise Pop Festival approaches, we are getting more and more excited for what they have in store. Whether it's Ben Gibbard rocking out the Great American Music Hall or Dan Deacon unleashing epic party jams on the Rickshaw and Independent dance floors, Noise Pop Festival proves yet again that they are aware of modern indie rock culture. But there are plenty of hidden jems to be found during this unique festival. You have the Pop-Up Shop in the Lower Haight , The Noise Pop Culture Club at [...]

Battlehooch - "Somersaults" Going well beyond a "tour kickoff" show, the guys from Battlehooch are headlining an "Exodus" show Thursday night, July 15th, after which they won't play again in SF for five months. The group's lengthy tour plans find them on the West Coast for a month before they head through the South and beyond. The band has some special stuff in store for this Thursday's show at Bottom of the Hill ($8/$10, 9pm), including a ton of new material. [...]

Audio Visual is a series exploring the fashion choices of local musicians. The Bay Area music scene is nothing if not diverse, and this noncomformity is as evident in clothing as it is in music. Battlehooch is a sextet of local musicians that can be characterized by the diverse acts with which they've shared the stage. The band recently wrapped up a tour with string-metal act Judgement Day , and has previously opened for electro-funk alter ego Ricky Reed and his partner in rhyme, Arjun, of Wallpaper. , during their Noise Pop [...]
