Mientras tanto [...]
It's pretty implausible to not go loco for mesmeric Mediterraneana on a day like today, and that's precisely what we've before our baying ears and prying eyes this morning as Chilean maverick Matias Aguayo returns with El Sucu Tucu – a manic ode to a chinchilla-type critter , or so an albeit inaccurate trawl of Google Images may well lead you to believe. Once renowned for his idiosyncratic brand of minimal techno commotion although perhaps most vividly remembered for his featuring as a key ingredient of Battles' Ice Cream belter from a couple years back, [...]

Fact: any day when you get to hear a Fred song is a good day. And any day when you get to hear a new Fred song is a wonderful day. 'Battles' is not quite a new song, but it is an unheard one. It was recorded while the Cork [Read more]
top of the day! if there is one thing i dislike doing its reading. i love reading for my own enjoyment, im in the middle of reading "wool" anyone read it? although when it comes to having to read artist bios, etc, i just dont got time for that. especially when they are more than 3 or 4 paragraphs long. with that said, here is a lovely song from co-pilgrm which is off of their recently released record a fairer sea , released on march 25. i believe these guys are from across the pond, possibly belguim [...]

It's good to diversify your tastes, so I have no qualms with posting this new jam from Kingsley Flood , one of the hottest acts around Boston at the moment. There sound blends elements of raucous bar tunes with punk rock stomps, touched off nicely with bits of horns/violins/keyboard. It's an eclectic sound for sure, but one that's definitely captured my attention. You can hear this track, along with other equally mesmerizing tunes (like "The Fire Inside") on the band's new album, Battles . If they're making songs as good [...]
Most people know of Tyondai Braxton as one of the founding members of Battles, which was arguably one of the most influential bands to come out of NYC in the 2000s. Since exiting the band in 2010, Braxton has continued to make a name for himself as both a composer and a much-desired collaborator. He’s worked with everyone from Kronos Quartet to Philip Glass (with whom Braxton performed at NYC’s ATP Festival last year). This week Braxton once again partners with New York’s Worldless Music Orchestra for the world premiere of HIVE at the Guggenheim Museum, which is [...]

When you think about the venues at which artists usually play shows, historic churches that have been around for centuries usually aren't on that list. Nevertheless, singer-songwriter Al Lewis has chosen to be one of the exceptions. The musician from North Wales, U.K. is scheduled to perform at St. Pancras Old Church ...

What's that Dad? They don't make rock n' roll music like that use to? You're wrong, old man. Boston's Kingsley Flood are here to help me to convince you of that. With an album that's been touted by Rolling Stone magazine and NPR, the wave's of the buzz ocean are floating them to the mainland. New out this week is Battles, the Boston's band second album - and it's good. At it's heart this is an Americana album that stretches it fingers out into folk and Springsteen style rock of those yesterdays. "Pick Your Battles" [...]
![Kingsley Flood – Battles [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4762841_lg.jpg)
It's not too early to declare an album as my favorite of the year right? Kingsley Flood is it. I've been on a HearYa hiatus for quite some time now due to the demands of the real world job that's been keeping me on the road, but Kingsley Flood brought me out of my sabbatical. This album has it all and will hit the sweet spot for anyone that follows this site and shares our same taste in music. Each song is carefully crafted and the album alternates between Americana and brash rock n' roll with a punk [...]

A long time ago, So You Think You Can Dance used to be a pretty cool show, and I used to watch it religiously. Back then, they had this one choreographer on the show named Wade Robson who created really weird routines to really good music (here's an example ), and I always hoped Robson would draw up a dance number to the great Battles song " Atlas ." Never happened, sadly, but it would have been a good match. Read More...
