Chances are that those of you that have been to shows in town over the last several years have probably met/seen/overlooked Tom Murphy . Tom is at every possibly cool show there's been in Denver. Chances are, he saw the first the Health show at Rhino 5 years ago (I'm exaggerating, but you catch my drift), but that's exactly what I'm getting at. Dude is ALWAYS ON POINT. Tom and Crazy Horse Studio have put the Denver music documentary, "Undiscovered in Denver", on the independent underground scene and showcases the music/interviews ranging from Candy Claws [...]

I'm not dead yet. Give me something to dance to... Dryhump Champion : BDRMPPL - cyberpunkmorphbanger (don lowed)

The 2010 Westword Music Showcase is almost upon us, and in anticipation I've decided to sit down this rainy weekend and post a few sets from last years event. Yesterday included a repost of The Fluid's set , and this morning I just finished tracking out the Experimental Showcase. Held at the Curious Theatre , some of Denver's finest experimental musicians took the stage together in a performance closely fashioned after the "singer-songwriters in the round" format. BDRMPPL, Married in Berdichev, Iuengliss, CacheFlowe, Pictureplane and Slight Harp all took the stage, trading the lead for each [...]
pretty self explanatory. Note Nick from BDRMPPL and Brittany Gould from Married in Berdichev! are both in the video: Computer World live from Plastic Sound Supply on Vimeo . I'll be back to reviewing tomorrow :)

The Golden Triangle sounds like a mystic land of enigma from which no one returns, but it's actually the area of Denver that the 15th annual Westword Music Showcase will overrun Saturday with 85+ ace bands, both local and national. On Saturday, come peruse ten stages of goodness with me; we'll see local bands worth vigorously loving like Everything Absent or Distorted , Young Coyotes and Houses , as well as influential Denver punk pioneers [...]

As previously highlighted ( here ) Pictureplane, aka Travis Egedy, was our favourite artist of 2008. He lives in Denver, Colarado in a house/art space/gig venue named Rhinoceropolis and creates electro-grime tinged with a hefty dollop of 80's pop, which fills you with a feeling of total freedom and abandon. As he explained on his own blog ( here ), 2008 was somewhat of an Annus Awesomis for Travis. We asked him alllll about the past, the present and the future… You played recently with Dan Deacon, how'd [...]

So maybe you've heard of this band called HEALTH? I know I've mentioned them a couple times . Well my band, The Don'ts and Be Carefuls, has the great honor of being able to play with them this evening at Rhinoceropolis . Doors are roughly 9PM, show will start roughly around 10PM. As always, there's a $5 donation. This evening is going to be freaking awesome. All the other bands ( Pictureplane , BDRMPPL , Spellprankster, and Late Severa Wires ) are also always a trip to see.
