It's none too often we opt to dissect the components of any which extended-play, purely because there never seem to be all that many that are truly worthy of extensive attention although in the case of precocious Seattleite Peter Michel, who this afternoon at long last unveils his much hankered for Dunes EP, well, let's just say we've yet to swoon so hard for Hibou . It begins with the accelerative guile of Sunder but if you've buzzed about these parts previously you'll doubtless have already indulged in that one and no matter how insatiable my [...]

So spake Mark in Chapter 10 Verse 9 of his greatest hit, the Gospel According to... and indeed it's proving pretty difficult to tear thyself away from Peter Michel's ongoing endeavours under the guise of Hibou . Once of Craft Spells, we not so long ago effusively glorified a previous two-part release entitled Glow/ Hollow and here we return to the adopted Seattleite as, sounding like a freshly revitalised Beach Fossils, he bestows Sunder upon us. A racy bluster to again set the heart aflutter, subtly nuanced ambiences underly guitar lines incisive as the tongue of betrayal and [...]

Vancouver’s Sunshine deserves to be on your list of need to know bands and if you need convincing, then we assure you that it won’t take long.

It's true! Those laid back slacker-rock kings from Brooklyn known as BEACH FOSSILS will be making a trip to Australia in September, playing shows around the country to make up for their cancelled 2012 tour. Yes, it was October last year that the band were supposed to be gracing our sunny shores however it was not to be. Lead vocalist Dustin Payseur sent this unfortunate message to his Aussie fans explaining the decision to put the initial shows off... "We hate to postpone the tour [...]

The littoral British retreat that is Brighton may be better renowned for saccharine tat and chish and fips still swimming in gristle and grime than it may be for musics and the manic frenzy their festivals so often entail, although the city becomes a bloody hive of hype for the one weekend of the year. That is this, and this is the 2013 edition of The Great Escape . So let the buzz begin! Away from the unrelenting bustle of the capital – a restive kind of agitation capable of bludgeoning even the irrepressibly ebullient [...]

Of course, we chose the latter, knowing exactly what we were getting ourselves into. Sort of. Racing to six or seven shows a night in [...]
