**CHVRCHES Part of the quintessential festival experience is enjoying the time you get with the random people you meet and, often but not always, the people camping next to you. Don't get me wrong, it sometimes happen that you're so terrified of your new camp-mates that you avoid your own tent, but on this weekend, the planets aligned: really though, there was a planetary conjunction visible over the weekend where Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury could be seen near the horizon in the western hemisphere, but the nerd in me digresses. Our tent-neighbours were one of the opening acts [...]

The Gorge is a loud and dirty amphitheater and campsite filled with great music bumpin from every corner packed with everyone from hipsters and hippies, nerds, high schoolers, old people and even a baby or two. Needless to say it is quite a unique place when Sasquatch comes through Memorial Day Weekend every year since 2002. The worst part about music festivals is the dreadful music overlap where two or three artists that you want to see play at the same time and you can't see all of them. You [...]

Damn you Bigfoot stage! Damn you. Yet again your lineup annoys me at how good it is. With such a great expanse to explore, not stretching one's legs seems lazy. But Honda's forcing you to debate set options again. The fantastic thing about a festival as diverse as Sasquatch! is that if you can drag yourself away from your favourite (Bigfoot) stage for a while, and you wander around the grounds, you can not only get your hair cleaned - but also maybe discover some new music from a great band, live. If [...]
Burger Records' sold-out event proves that a cohesive festival is possible when the people involved have shared incentives.

Though I'm the sort of guy that likes his Primus in normal 2-D, this Sasquatch 2013 lineup is packed with some serious good energy. You've got The Postal Service reuniting (and maybe Ben Gibbard runs in to Danny Brown randomly and he's all like "You wanna collab?" Because, like that seems like something that would happen nowadays) and indie megas like Sigur Ros, Vampire Weekend, The XX, and Arctic Monkeys. And everyone is allowed to smoke pot. Like legally. I think. Check out the trailer below. As an added bonus watch a video [...]

Sasquatch! 2013 (May 24-27, 2013) The lineup for the 2013 Sasquatch! Music Festival (May 24-27, 2013) dropped this morning/last night with a bomb. Headliners for this year’s festival include: Mumford & Sons, The Postal Service, The xx, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Vampire Weekend . For my money, this is a pretty great looking festival lineup. (If I were a betting man, I'd say this one will sell out even faster than any year's past.) Four day Sasquatch Festival passes go on sale to the general public on Feb [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Sasquatch The Gorge Amphitheatre in beautiful George, Wash. will once again play host to the Sasquatch music festival in 2013. This year's lineup spans several genres and includes headliners the xx , Mumford and Sons , the recently reunited Postal Service , Macklemore and Ryan Lewis , Sigur Ros , Vampire Weekend , Japandroids and many more.

Every Memorial Day, I think about a flying to Portland and making the drive to Washington for Sasquatch. I haven't been this "jazzed" about a festival lineup in quite some time due to the amount of music festivals making the rounds. It's probably the most complete lineup (headliners not included) and the Postal Service is near the top. SASQUATCH! MUSIC FESTIVAL SETS LINEUP FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND (MAY 24-27, 2013) AT THE GORGE FESTIVAL PASSES ON SALE FEBRUARY 9 (10AM PST) AT SASQUATCHFESTIVAL.COM Mumford & Sons, The Postal Service, [...]

Beachwood Sparks - Forget The Song December winter is great - the holidays are on their way, friends are coming back home, and the first snowfall is soon to be. January winter on the hand is a beast overstaying it's welcome - people are sick, my car is always iced over, and we had to pay December's heating bill. Credit goes to my friend Alex for putting words to my feelings without knowing it. And so I dream of Summer, or at least the carefree warmth. That's where Beachwood Sparks come in. [...]

Winter is the coldest, most melancholy of seasons but also one of the most beautiful times of the year. On Winter (Or What We Mistake For December) Vol. 2, I've tried to reflect those dual feelings. Here are the 10 best albums of 2012 as rated by yours truly. I feel strongly that a year-end best list shouldn't be dictated by the most buzz or the heaviest promotions. I listened to almost 100 albums in 2012 and these 10 stood out to me. I hope you find at least one you like in my list. 10. Nada Surf - The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy. Power-pop bliss. This is a great comeback album for these guys, who have been making music since the early '90s. Stars , [...]

What a year. More than 140 Los Angeles-sired albums passed through the Buzz Bands LA headphones this year, not counting EPs, mixtapes and singles. Judging from the detritus at my desk — handwritten lists, stacks of CDs, press releases — and my unopened emails, there were a lot more out there. It came in all flavors. 2012 was a robust year for folkies and faux-folkies, hard rock and harder rock, for electro and popgazers, for scads of seemingly interchangeable garage-rockers, for radio bands and scruffy DIYers, for electronic dance music and electronic dumb music, for R&B and glitch&B [...]

It's really hard to narrow down a list of Top Albums of 2012, especially when you have four contributors with different opinions. We gave the reins to Nathan.Lankford and Nicole Baumann on this one, since they write the majority of the album reviews, but we all have a little representation within this. Now, we do realize that our site has specialized tastes, so please realize that these are our OPINIONS . You're welcome to disagree, and, in fact, we encourage that process. Also, we're doing a Top 100 because so many records came out this year, it wouldn't be fair to narrow [...]
You can tell an album is strong if you're still listening months after its release. With this feature, Heavy Rotation, I'm taking a look at some of the year's best releases. Grizzly Bear - Shields . I love the dramatic flourishes on this album. The singles, Sleeping Ute and Yet Again , may be the best of the bunch. Shields picks up where 20092s brilliant Veckatimest ended. It's not equal to that release, but, in fairness, that's a tough album to follow. Other highlights include the [...]

Bryan Sheffield If you thought you heard the sound of dense, nimble percussion, shimmering guitars, and intricate harmonies coming from the vicinity of New York on Wednesday night, you weren't hearing things. That was the sound of Los Angeles' Local Natives making their live return at The Bowery Ballroom as part of CMJ, a performance announced only a couple days prior. The show was their first this calendar year, and they used the opportunity to preview material from the follow-up to their 2009 breakout debut Gorilla Manor , video [...]
