I don't know if Anne Frank would have been a Belieber, but one thing is for certain, Anne Frank would have been a Neutral Milk Hotel fan. They dedicated an entire album to her, Biebs! Maybe you could
I've caught a summer cold (I know, it's embarrassing), so with barely hearing a thing I thought I would skip today's post too. However I just came upon the full stream of Beacon 's new album, and there's no way I can go wrong with this one. The mere $10 you can buy it for is a steal.

Artwork by Langdon Graves Since Beacon has toured with Tycho they have found themselves some proper exposure from singing live with Sarah Barthel from Phantogram to hitting the road with How To Dress Well . The duo will hopefully be all over the states and EU this summer and fall, until then just enjoy the stream above. Thomas Mullarney and Jacob Gossett, aka Brooklyn duo Beacon, introduced themselves to the world with the No Body and For Now EPs, both [...]

Thankfully, in this world there are some people who have their shit together. Like some kind of Beacon of light has struck their otherwise dilapidated brains, leading them towards the oasis of water t

Chiming in at thirty-five minutes, Beacon 's debut album The Ways We Separate is both an intellectual and visceral accompaniment to the hazier days. Spanning the extremes of hollow textures and weighted bass lines, Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett's new album showcases a fully developed sound from their previous two releases—conceptual EPs that are strung together with minimalist and R&B based instrumentation. While The Ways We Separate plays on Beacon's past ideas by carrying them into an ever-expanding refined environment, the idea of love, mainly the woes between partners and the effects a relationship can have [...]

Aussie electro duo Kyro & Bomber have got a new single titled 'Beacon' to bang your head to to. Out on Lazy Rich's label Big Fish w/ remixes from rich himself & Hirshee and Vengeance. This is best described as an electro-step club house anthem. The break down is heavy with Blissando bringing some drama and helping the breakdown and build with her vocals! A good late night bangor to lose inhibition to.
Remember Röyksopp? No? Not even the one with Fever Ray? Well no matter, for although the Norwegian sentimentalists have slipped forever deeper into eternal irrelevance since the trailblazing release of their seminal (yes, that's seminal ) début Melody A.M. , their legacy lives on. For rarely does electronica resonate with such emotive potency, and it's in that same rich vein of feeling that Brooklyn duo Beacon appear to have bathed their mutedly, if only periodically sublime début full-length, The Ways We Separate . It's an album comprising incisive avant-garde cuts (Overseer) and sultry [...]
Week's Top Releases The Albums You Need to Know About Every Week Hey, guys! Hope this week's release day finds you well and ready to do some listening. I decided to (sort of) list the releases from oldest band to newest band this week, which takes us back to 1983 - the year indie rock vets Guided By Voices was formed. They've been in the game for thirty years now and are still creating relevant, really interesting music. Going even [...]

Beacon – The Ways We Separate Ghostly: 2013 According to the Ghostly International website, Beacon’s Thomas Mullarney and Jacob Gossett “met at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute, where they were studying sculpture and painting respectively.”Perhaps unsurprisingly, given their visual arts background, Beacon’s debut LP comes with a fully-formed aesthetic. Everything about Beacon seems consistent and carefully considered, from the stark and attractive cover art for The Ways We Separate , to the photos of Mullarney and Gossett that you can find online, to the palette of sounds they draw from. This is not to imply that Beacon’s [...]

★★★★☆ Sidling up to you with the softest of electronic pop and R&B via some attachment to post-dubstep/meta-bass subsidiaries, Brooklynites Thomas Mullarney and Jacob Gossett stretch their arms wide to show they have a lot of love to give. Except everything’s in miniature, bringing music boxes into the studio to use as a metronome and reimagining the grace of its pirouetting ballerina. However tender and fresh-faced, the presence of an anonymous puppet master watching every move they make shows that beckoning for an embrace isn’t enough. "Overseer" is that casual, smoke-blowing observer slash noxious [...]

Two Door Cinema Club has given us quite an interesting video for their tune "Handshake." It's off their most recent album Beacon which showed up at #8 on our Best Albums of 2012 List.

Brooklyn-based Beacon , the duo of Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett, are ready to drop their debut album "The Ways We Separate" on April 29th through Ghostly International.
