Even though his Josh Ritter's new album The Beast In Its Tracks was written in the wake of his divorce, it doesn't sound like a breakup album. The album is out on March 5th via Pytheas Recordings, and as NPR Music points out in its First Listen premier of the record, "gentility and empathy are ... Continue reading
Follow up his last release, The Beats EP on Dim Mak Records, Albin Meyer 's latest outing on the Musical Freedom imprint "The Beast," is a harrowing electronica offering reminiscent of the 90s breaks made popular by artists like The Prodigy. Adrenaline-fueled and backed by a scratched and filter cut synthesis, Albin wastes no time showing "The Beast's" claws - putting the pedal to the floor the moment the track begins. With high-intensity percussion work and sirens aplenty the track serves as a powerful reminder of Albin's sonic style. The only respite here [...]

I do appreciate Annie Mac's Free Music Monday thing. This week she's giving some love to Philly producer Starkey and his track "The Beast" from his new album Orbits . Get your new electronic music here... "If you like intricately crafted electronic music that escapes the intro-drop-breakdown-drop formula of most dance music tracks, then you'll love Starkey." -Annie Mac Follow Starkey on Facebook | Twitter | Soundcloud You might also like: [...]

Hopefully, 2012 was the year that plenty of listeners got tuned into Starkey 's frequencies. He's been bridging the gap between street music and the bass music scene, and cuts like this freebie from Annie Mac Presents showcase that perfectly. Feels like a Trap track, but the elements he builds around it make it so much more. Sure, you can get your bounce on to this, but this feels more like he's soundtracking a b-boy battle with a pair of robots in some Martian dive bar. Then this big, hulking, gold chain-wearing android steps in and rips the entire [...]

DJ Apple Juice Kid and Pierce Freelon of The Beast, have put together a program called Beat Making Lab. It's a course offered at UNC-Chapel Hill. I wish my university offered a program like that, I just went for a joke of a film and television degree. Anyway, the two recently traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo where they taught some select musicians from the area how to make beats. I never thought I'd find myself saying this, but I'm pretty jealous of some kids in the Congo right now. More info below. In July [...]
Big ups to Dimitri Vangelis and Wyman for bringing you another late summer mix packed with all the main stage hits you'd expect and a loud peppering of chart climbers to ease the transition of getting back to school. Try not to get suspended before October, I know it might be tempting but do yourself [...]

CALLING ALL PROGRESSIVE TRANCE HEADS! Yep, we all know that the best in EDM right now is anything trance infused - progressive trance, electro trance, big room trance, or just...you know...TRANCE. Another great session. It seems like there's too much going on out there to cover, but we're trying damnit. Currently touring the US and Canada, Russian duo Hard Rock Sofa is still reeling in the success of their summer anthem "Here We Go" as they cruise up charts and polls and keep churning out mix after mix [...]

With an impressive discography featuring festival stand-out originals and remixes for the likes of David Guetta, Avicii, Erick Morillo and more, the Sweden's new original 'The Beast' expertly showcases his individual style and trademark high energy mayhem. “Elephant” is the beastly 1st single proper from Tame Impala’s forthcoming sophomore effort, Lonerism , to be released on October 9th. A swaggering glam strut about a cocky jock playing the jerk, “Elephant” is Tame Impala at their confident (& of course cosmic) best. It’s a wild space rock safari & the lift off point to planet Lonerism . Also, the people over at Modular Recordings are currently putting together the deluxe package for Lonerism . But they want you to decide what it should include. [...]
:PAPERCUTZ Where Beasts Die (Bam Spacey Remix) Reminds me of a futuristic take on Little Dragon’s sound. Solid.
Following up on his well-received hit " Hells Bells ," Albin Myers is back with his latest effort, "The Beast." This production is in the same vein as Albin's previous releases, featuring a grinding bassline and some well-timed vocal samples that queue an amplified electro drop. Check out the preview video showing bass-hungry fans going wild when Albin drops the track and stay tuned for the July 30th release on Tiesto's Musical Freedom label. Albin Meyers goes hard in the paint. The mohawk touting Swedish DJ is not restrained by strict genre definitions and his style is an outward testament to that, given that mohawks are more commonly associated with punk rock music and mosh pits. No matter, Albin's tracks are always club favorites, with deep basslines and dirty productions. He totally beasts his new track 'The Beast' out on Tiësto's imprint Musical Freedom July 30. You can get to know a little bit more about Albin by watching the Swedish reality show Heartbeats , which follows around [...]

Static Radio NJ have evolved quite a bit over the past few years. After releasing their debut One For The Good Guys EP, the band gained popularity due to their no bullshit, fast paced hardcore. With their follow up An Evening Of Bad Decisions , Static Radio NJ switched gears into a more melodic direction, and with their latest release We Are All Beasts , they expand their Lifetime-esque sound even more. With 12 melodic punk tracks it's almost impossible not to compare them to other NJ contemporaries such as Banquets or The Great [...]
