Adam Horowitz and Mike D announced they are planning a Beastie Boys memoir almost one year to the day after the passing of founding member MCA. The book is due out in 2015 via the label Spiegel & Grau, who also published Jay-Z's 2010 autobiography "Decoded." The book will apparently be anything but a standard memoir, with THR reporting that it will follow a loose oral history style with some multimedia elements included. No word on what those elements might be, although given the hubbub surrounding Jay-Z's release, one can assume that smartphones, tablets, and [...]

Here's news of a book we can't wait to read - the New York Times reports that surviving Beastie Boys Adam (Ad-Rock) Horovitz and Michael (Mike D) Diamond are putting together a memoir about the group's history. Now, this won't be an ordinary memoir, as the book, which is due in 2015, will be "loosely structured as an oral history" but will also contain bits that aim to challenge the reader and contributions from other writers according to the report. Mike D and Ad-Rock [...]
It's true: white people love coffee table books. There's nothing better than sipping your coffee from your coffee table lazily flipping through your coffee table book, which accomplishes the task of making you look really cool and smart for doing nothing better than staring at mostly big color photos and skimming some text you'll soon forget. It's hipster-ness defined. And what group could be better at bringing a wry smile to the face of the aging hipster at their coffee tables than this news: the surviving Beastie Boys (Ad-Rock and Mike D) have just signed a deal [...]

His cohorts are receiving some editorial help from famed rap scribe Sacha Jenkins and the book is said to "loosely structured as an oral history," The New York Times reports . The BEASTIE BOYS ' surviving two members have signed a deal with Spiegel & Grau, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, for a book celebrating their history and aesthetic. A title has not been chosen, but it is planned to come out in fall 2015, the publisher is expected to announce this week. Even though it sounds like a non-them thang to do, I'd be shaking and crying right now if I wasn't ironing my work clothes.

Six years later, fans were so anxious to get into the festival, a riot occurred as ticket-less music lovers stormed the gates during a Ray Charles set, prompting a visit from the National Guard. It has been nearly a year since Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys passed, so it is only right this fantastic animated tribute popped up to pay respect. The video goes along with an upcoming London art show held by artist James Curran that will apparently hold 35 prints that will be up for sale. I assume those 35 prints will have something to do with the art shown during these lovable animations. Proceeds from the event will go to cancer patients. Well, seeing as I just danced for like two whole minutes at my cat to this song, I think it's only fitting that I write about it. I also want to talk forever and ever about their live show which I attended on Thursday at Irving Plaza. But I won't talk forever, I promise. There's a lot to say but let me begin by saying that The Knocks were a fantastic opener for C2C. We've talked about them before, and I understand the hype now. They're so much fun live, with an excellent selection of songs and a [...]
It's safe to say that the winner of the past week was Tyler, the Creator , whose new album, Wolf , finally dropped. It's looking to push a solid number of units and Tyler gave one of his best late-night performances of his career doing "Rusty" on The Late Show With David Letterman . We're hoping De La Soul runs the world next week, which is when t hey'll drop their first single since 2004. If not, maybe we'll just put together another list of albums that [...]

Rockaway Lunch Plate is a gratis food truck run by Beastie Boy Mike D and his friend Robert McKinley, who works in the restaurant and hotel business, that services victims of Hurricane Sandy with free food, including chicken, rice, beans, and veggies. The inspiration came immediately after the storm when Mike D and McKinley went out to the Rockaways in Queens to help with damages and supply-donations, but noticed that with all the power outages and closed businesses, it was impeding people's access to food.
