Beaten Awake have uploaded two discs of demos and one live show on Virb. The demos include early versions of four songs that would end up on their 2006 debut, "It's a Bubble Bath of Sharks," "Endless Boo," "Broken Fang", and "A & E," as well a number of songs that have been largely unheard before now. The live show was taken from an August date at The Hideout in Chicago, and it features two new jams, "Half Pink Human" and "Raise Up." Beaten Awake is somewhat of an anachronism. An actual band in a time when everyone is their own project, recruiting indie-cred members just for tours. Oh, they got it...i mean, you want singer songwriters? They have 2. You want multi-instrumentalists? They have 4. Beaten Awake never intended to make it this far. They started out as long time friends working at the same bar in Kent, OH, The Zephyr. Joel McAdams, Ryan Brannon, Jon Finley, and Allen Karpinski were all veterans of the local rock scene. Jam sessions at drummer Ryan Brannon's apartment led to spontaneous gigs at The Zephyr Pub, a record deal with Audio Eagle, and an opening spot on The Black Keys west coast tour.
