We Are Trees Going into 2009's CMJ Festival , Surfer Blood, The xx and Warpaint were poised to be the breakout acts. In 2010, the field is wide open with over 1200 bands seeking approval from NYC audiences. Still, the bands that should generate the most attention are Lord Huron, We Are Trees, Cloud Nothings, Lower Dens, Wild Nothing, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Circle Pit, and Yuck. Out of that group, I expect Lord Huron, We Are Trees, and Lower Dens to come away with the most accolades of the festival. [...]

Beauty Feast played their first show at the Mercury Lounge back in August. On the bill were Memory Tapes, Twin Sister, and Oberhofer. My Oberhoffer and Twin Sister photos were posted on Brooklynvegan.com . I've really been digging this band since I heard this song back in May. Hoping their debut EP comes out sometime soon. The 4 set lineup at Mercury Lounge on August 11 was terrific from start to finish, provided you got there early enough to enjoy all the sets. First off, Brooklyn-based band, Beauty Feast, performed an entertaining set filled with organic music and numerous encouragements for touching. At one point, there was random stage diving as Anna and Kelly (the only two females in the band) urged everyone to get right on top of them and touch before a stage diving session ensued. A hilarious Americana song sung by Marty Sulkow capped off the set. [...]
