Atlas Genius I don't know if you'll believe it based on the quality of my voice at some points in this podcast, but I am actually feeling better! It's just that annoying thing where the remnants of colds stick around for weeks. So annoying. Hopefully you won't be annoyed by this week's countdown, though! (I don't know why you would be....I mean, it's a pretty silly thing to be annoyed at. I was just making a smooth transition.) April's "Debut-Every-Week" trend continues! Enjoy it! [...]
The Indiecision Five at 5 is our attempt at sharing our musical tastes with you, and showcasing music from around the world. Each weekday at 5pm sharp, one NH7 writer or staffer will bring you five songs he/she is listening to on the day. Today, Shalaka Pai goes from dance-happy to destructively joyous in five songs. 1. Skrat - 'Tin Can Man' 'Tin Can Man' off Skrat's February release, Bring Out The Big Guns ( review ), is the one track off the album that, for me, has sticking potential, [...]

Tamam ama şimdi nasıl rahat yaşayabilirim ben onun bütün söylediklerini hatırlamadan aman canım işte her şeyi her şeyi.. gelsem bilmiyorum bulabilir miyim seni yine orada mısın ara sıra.. [...]
Beck - "The Golden Age" First move of the day. The sun barely up, coffee still warm in the thermos. It's a little girl who says she's a ballerina and she has a pocket dog. People never see about ten things in any given move. This time it was emptying her drawers. She just had some mental block about it, and then when we showed up she shook her head and slapped her forehead. "Yeah...yeah, why didn't I empty them? I'm such an idiot." So we moved the fridge while she packed like a maniac. [...]

“There's just so much time set aside for baffled reaction. I believe we've reached the limit.” - Don DeLillo, The Day Room As a child, I was taught that no phrase was worse than “I hate you.” Usually, when it would slip out in a moment of unguarded passion, the target was my older sister, undoubtedly committing some unspeakable act of injustice against me, her undersized and slightly effeminate brother. Anyone with an older sibling understands; regardless of your parents’ rules, sometimes, you [...]
I remember seeing the tweet about Nashville's Milktooth making a stop at Grimey's and buying Beck's Song Reader after it released in December. I immediately chided them with the all mighty "Do It!" tweet, and I was just hoping that one of those tracks would be included in their really great Stay Home America series. We've [...]
Beck 's last project wasn't a traditional album in any sense. Instead of releasing music as audio, he released it in the form of Song Reader , a book of sheet music for 20 songs left up for interpretation by anyone who wanted to take them on. For the Song Reader exhibition, the veteran artist teamed up with Sonos Studio to welcome anyone to come in, record one of Beck's songs in the fully functional Song Reader Studio, and upload it to www.songreader.net . Over the years, we've seen music get more and more interactive, and Beck [...]
urethra-franklyn : “Hollow log” By Beck Off the album “One foot in the grave”

In honor of Josh Ritter ’s lovely yet heartwrenching new album , inspired by the tragic disintegration of his marriage, I’ve compiled a mix of some of my favorite breakup songs. To keep this at a reasonable number, I’ve limited it to songs from the last 15 years (apologies to Bob Dylan , Nilsson , Sam Cooke , Love , and The Cure , among others). Click here to download the mix / listen on Spotify . 01. Stars - Your Ex-Lover Is Dead [...]

Beck has been teasing his 360 degree experience of the David Bowie classic "Sound and Vision" for weeks but the final product was worth the wait. Featuring over 160 musicians and 9+ minutes of crazy surround sound Beck has not only set an insanely high bar for cover songs but a completely immersive and visceral experience. Check out the video below or if you are more patient go here for the official experience, but either way be sure to listen with headphones for the full effect. [...]

We couldn’t just hate on the ‘90s and not give credit where credit is due. Like we mentioned in our 15 Worst Music Videos of the '90s post yesterday, there was a lot of good and a lot of bad that came out of the decade. This post is all about the former. The ‘90s brought a lot of exciting new styles to music with artists breaking stereotypes and deciding to try new things and us, and the influence still lives on today. Here we highlight the best that came out of that grungy, not-so-distant era in the form [...]
Hail To The Thief has, to my ears, always seemed to stand as Radiohead's most expressive, and thereby successful work. It's an opinion I think few uphold, though one I stand by staunchly. Unerringly, even. By that same decree, I've always perceived Where I End and You Begin (The Sky Is Falling In) to be their most convincing composition: those modulated, almost grimacing synths; the violently thrashed snares; the awry vocal and the ensuing sirens which sound as though they're hounding Thom Yorke until death do him part and they do indeed eat him alive. It's visceral; eruptive as [...]
