In January of this year, Irish rock trio Bell X1 completed work on their sixth studio offering, the somewhat bewilderingly titled ‘Chop Chop.’ The summer release of ‘Chop Chop’ is anxiously anticipated by Bell X1 fans, but perhaps more so by the band themselves. In advance of the release, they have made several tracks available on SoundCloud and YouTube for sneak previewing. While the individual tracks are strong enough to pique interest, their musical and emotional impact is best realized in the context of the full album. (For singer Paul Noonan’s [...]

The summer forecasts look fun and promising, as long as you look away from the lame main-feeders. Otherwise you get Jared Leto likening his band 30 Seconds to Mars as "an art project", then there is Thom Yorke joining up with Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja and Elbow's Guy Garvey in scoring a doc about avoiding UK taxes, and while Kanye West "ain't here to apologize to no motherfuckers", you can still catch him performing on tomorrow's SNL season finale. But ...

Sure the Irish trio Bell X1 have been offering up musical giftings for a while now, a dozen years in fact, but my kind ears seem to have only recently tweaked after hearing some of the exquisite samples of sounds from their upcoming sixth studio album Chop Chop . They are "shrinking the palette" and offer an almost absolute taste of rich and effortless orchestral rock themes. From the mesmerizing "Starlings Over Brighten Pier" and its looping piano and visuals to Paul Noonan's apocalyptic narrative in "The End Is Nigh". The rhythms are delicate, lyrics vastly [...]

In a week that presented us some great new hopes for summer, the buzz news cycles found us giving some heart while scratching our heads in aggravation and ambivalence. We send our best to Abraham Orellana, aka AraabMuzik, who is recovering after getting shot as a victim of an attempted robbery, continue to mourn the loss of Slayer's founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman and Kriss Kross's Chris Kelly, and roll our eyes at another bloated exercise of bottom-of-the-barrel branding polemics with ...

If you haven't caught up yet and read the first half of Carrie's wonderful interview with Paul Noonan of Bell X1 , go here. Then dive right in to part 2 below... I read through the liner notes for the album, and they’re sort of non-specific about who does what, who plays what, who wrote what. Is that deliberate, are you trying to create sort of a band effect there? Yeah, we’ve never really gotten into who played triangle in the third verse [...]
Last Monday, I had the opportunity to talk, via Skype, with Paul Noonan of Bell X1 about their forthcoming album, ‘Chop Chop’. Our conversation was kind of a music nerd’s dream-come-true, with a sort of stream-of-consciousness feel as it wandered through the many thought-provoking aspects of the record. (Minor disclaimer: I have edited the transcript slightly, to avoid giving away too many details before the album’s much-anticipated release.) Hello? Hey, Carrie, it’s Paul Noonan. Hi, how are you? [...]
Irish band Bell X1 will release their sixth album, Chop Chop, on June 28. The album's opener and first single, "Starlings Over Brighton Pier," is unusually, exquisitely beautiful. So much so, it makes the rest of the album deathly pale ... Continue reading

Der Minimalismus von Bell X1 scheint wie geschaffen für graue Frühlingstage.
Bell X1 open their forthcoming album ‘Chop Chop’ with the ethereally impressionistic ‘Starlings Over Brighton Pier’. The song itself is hauntingly obscure, with sheer, floating vocals and a piano part reminiscent of Claude Debussy. Marc Silver, Conor Jacob, and Brian Kelly capture the mood exactly in their stunning video representation. 'Chop Chop' will be released in Ireland on 28 June, in the UK and Europe on 1 July and in the US on 2 July on BellyUp Records. Click here to view the embedded video.

Long one of my favorite bands, Bell X1 hadn't probed my space much over the last couple years. That may have been my ignorance, but more likely it's that the band wasn't up to much new studio recording as they toured. However, that's all changed, as the Irish trio grouped together to record their newest album Chop Chop , in the span of two weeks. Chop Chop is set for release July 1 on Belly Up Records , and if the first two available songs are [...]

"I can't remember the last time I was part of a record that was recorded, mixed and mastered in only two weeks," Peter Katis. That Bell X1 have managed to find any time, let alone two weeks, with the legendary long-time The National producer Peter Katis suggests that they are of exceptional calibre. The glitchy beauty of 'Starlings Over Brighton Pier' - the first single and opening track from Chop Chop , their upcoming 6th studio album - confirms it. This is a bit Postal Service-ish, a little Mutemath-esque but undeniably Bell X12s own [...]
BELL X1 just released the first song, Starlings Over Brighton Pier, from their upcoming album Chop Chop (out on July 1st). "From the moment I heard demos, I knew this was a special batch of songs, nestled in the sweet spot between wistfulness and joy," explains Thomas Bartlett, who oversaw BELL X1's sixth album alongside The post Bell X1 premiere new song "Starlings Over Brighton Pier" appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
