This week brought the longest day of the year. And yet, I there seems to be less and less time to get shit done. No excuse for not keepin' up on what's güt. So here's the latest. Enjoy thoroughly. Mount Moriah "Lament" from s/t Eleanor Friedberger "My Mistakes" from Last Summer Rites "Unlikely Rare" from Demos Rüfüs "We Left" from RÜFÜS EP [...]

Mount Moriah is the bibilical mountain range associated with Abraham's binding and nearly successful sacrifice of Isaac on a peak. As the story goes, angels intervene, as Abraham's fear of God was tested that day on the mountaintop. While Genesis typically alludes to a specific peak, today Moriah is associated with the actual range of Jerusalem. Much like this collection of peaks stretches together to offer an iconic image of loyalty, sacrifice, and spirituality, the aptly titled "supergroup" Mount Moriah is a melting pot of stellar musicians [...]

If you follow me on Twitter , you know that last night I tweeted that " Max Indian makes me feel like I've just discovered music." That wasn't the PBR talking. Max Indian is my new favorite band, and I believe the best band in the Triangle, because they make me feel the way I felt at about age 11 when music became something more than something I heard on the radio in the car with my mom. It became something something comforting and energizing. Something to analyze and obsess over. Something to inspire me to read the [...]

Back in January, we put together a list of Ten Brooklyn Bands You Should Hear Right Now that began with a nepotistic rhetorical question: "is there even any doubt that Brooklyn circa 2009 fosters one of the most vibrant music scenes on this here planet?" The answer to that question, clearly, is that there isn't any doubt, Brooklyn sure does have its share of very fine, if almost entirely immigrant, resident bands. However, so do a lot of other parts of this here planet... Lest you fine folks think that EAR FARM focuses solely on the [...]

If you read our blog regularly, you know we're huge fans of local band Ume (they also headlined our first show earlier this month). Tomorrow evening brings them to the Granada Theater in Dallas to open for The Octopus Project . Then starting with a tour kickoff date at Emo's opening for Lions , they'll embark on a month long tour throughout June that includes a performance at the NXNE Festival in Toronto, ON. We wish them nothing but great success on the road. Good luck! [...]

INDIAN JEWELRY ( MySpace ) When: Saturday, September 6 Where: Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center Playing with: Thankful Tree, Dust Bunny Sounds like: "The rolling, tribal rhythms of several songs create an effect similar to being tossed to and fro at the mercy of the waves, while occasionally the momentum evaporates and the listener is (momentarily) cut adrift. "Walking on the Water," funnily enough, is a good example of the latter; its listless looping of vocals and guitar is both overheated [...]
Clocking in a just over 30 minutes, no one can accuse Bellafea of being flabby with their first long player. This North Carolina outfit have been in the noisy guitar business since the start of the decade, releasing their Family Tree EP in 2005 before retreating to their home state to craft their debut. A lot of exertion for a half hour of music; which sadly doesn't actually seem to represent a whole lot of ...

After roughly four years Bellafea has finally returned with their brand new debut album in hand titled Cavalcade . Just released at the beginning of June through Southern Records, the band spent two years of that time off between the release of their EP Family Tree and now recording the nine songs that make up Cavalcade. The time has proved to work in the bands favor though as the album is simply a great piece of work that should have fans [...]
