Vue, way back when Bellavista Temptation By Your Side Tom Verlaine Souvenir From a Dream Bellavista has a very storied pedigree, and if you're at all curious about the group, it's probably because of that pedigree - which is to say that this band, probably because of the capricious nature o' the music industry, isn't as high-profile [...]
If you're a guy thinking of cutting off those luscious Shannon Hoon locks you've been growing since your sophomore year of high school, what better way to go out than in a blaze of glorious mulletry? That's definitely what this guy did in a wonderful bit of photo-chronicling (what did we do before the Internet?). Also check his endeavor to consume locally and scramble up a pigeon egg instead of his normal chicken fare. Not to give away the story, but he writes, " All in all, pigeons, I was let down by [...]

I meant to post this weeks ago. Life has been hectic. Hectic but good. Enjoy. 01. New Ruins - " Book Lung ". One of those songs where the music (haunting) mimics the lyrics (" Your ghost still walks all around these hills... "). | Myspace | Purchase 02. Eastern Conference Champions - " The Box ". Reminds me of the anthemic moments of Hope of the States , but better. " And I've got nothing to complain about... " | [...]

I'm really liking what I am hearing from this trio from San Fran. They are playing some nice and fuzzy bleached guitar pop that is reminiscent of some early Verve or Ride. The band is made up of the final members of the band Vue that put out two albums through Sub-pop and were fairly well known for their raw rock and punk quality. Although still raw, they are now less punk and more sedated with soundscapes that will make you swoon. Bella Vista - Put It On [...]

Daestro - Darkwater Byu Daestro is an indie rock/electronica band out of Detroit with one band member, Randy Chabot, that plays synths, drums, piano and sings as well. This is fairly dense music with overlaying vocals. This sounds more like a full band than one person doing all the production and instruments. There is some nice synth action on this track along with dreamy vocals, and it is no surprise that his first three influences listed are Mewithoutyou, M83 and ladytron, because it basically sounds like the perfect mix of these three bands. [...]

Man, you gotta love the Wiki. Take this quote on the page about The Vue that I found on Subpop : "The band is now known as Bellavista. Much controversy has surrounded the band since their reformation, including allegations of illicit drug use and promiscuity." Even though I'd like to think that sentence is steeped in sarcasm, it's really impossible to tell if the author was serious or not. To their credit, Wiki did note that "Citation is needed" for that part about sex and drugs and controversy. This next statement I make [...]
There used to be this great band that emulated a raw, garage rock sound called Vue. They were on Sub Pop, and recieved high marks for their brand of playing. Now, three of the members have moved on from Vue,...
I hardly spend enough time searching for and featuring music from the west coast these days. It's gotten to the point where there was even a suggestion made that we rename our blog Brooklyn, Sweden. Nice one but no thank you. Since we finally made it back out to Portland, Oregon with our last post, we figured it would be a good idea to stick around a bit longer. For our first submission, The
Remember Vue? I sure don't but I'm guessing that I need to do some research on them since they were apparently beloved during 2001 and 2004 when they were a vaunted Sub Pop band. Now, the reason I'm bringing Vue to your attention is because three of the final four members of the band are back with a rather amazing new project titled Bellavista. The trio is currently based out of San Francisco where they are signed to Take Root Records, and they will be presenting their self titled debut to the world in early May. [...]
An undertow of distant riffs, an irregular maracas, a primal scream for a vocal thrust all add up to a sweltering delight from a trio San Franciscan natives. Rex Shelverton, Jeremy Bringetto and Cary La Scala previously played together as the Vue and the experience has sharpened their artistic senses. 'Put It On' is off kilter, an unsteady masterpiece that could topple into a puddle of mess at
A few years ago I saw Broken Flowers with a friend and although I left the theater disappointed with the movie, the song playing during the closing credits left a lasting impression. We hung around until the end of the credits to get the artist and title of the song and I made a mental note to track it down. I must have filed that mental note pretty far back in the filing cabinet because it took me 2 years to find the song. But here it is. The Greenhornes and Holly Golightly - There Is [...]
