Photo by Brad Moore You like Sleigh Bells, right? Right. I bet you also like free things - especially when the free things are rad, like a signed copy of Treats on vinyl. I bought this with my own hard earned Ruckus dollars at their St. Pete show last month, and while my friend Mia and I chilled with Alexis after the gig, she signed (and defaced) it just for one of our lucky readers. Since we're hard at work preparing for [...]

It has been a few years since Brooklyn's BELL has been around. Her first full-length Diamonite came out yesterday nearly 3 years after her debut selt-titled EP (July 2009). This album has strayed away from her simpler previous piano melodies to compounded layers of danceability. BELL also composes some pretty impressive covers including " It's Oh So Quiet " from Stereogum's Enjoyed: A Tribute to Bjork's Post and her live medley of Radiohead's "Videotape" ( In Rainbows ) & Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" ( The Eraser ) below. BELL - Dialtone [...]

Enjoy. ♩ BELL - River extra: ♩ BELL - Dialtone

On her debut LP Diamonite , Bell combines the strength of Björk with the charm of Feist, resulting into splendid songs like Chase No Fase , River and Magic Tape . Honestly, no bad tracks on this album; I've been waiting for it since I first heard her debut EP (simply titled EP ) and it was definitely worth the wait. Stream it below and buy it over at her Bandcamp . <a href=" http://bellinspace.com/album/d iamonite" _mce_href=" http://bellinspace.com/album/d iamonite">DIAMONITE by BELL</a>
USHER, AKON ( Rose Garden , 1 Center Ct) After a brief career lull following the blowup "Yeah!" Usher has roared back to life with songs dominating the club scene, such as "OMG" and "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love." Expect a sweaty amount of hype, awesome choreography, and opener Akon (who, frankly, I don't like very much). WM. Review by Jordana Mah (@mizzjblog) When it comes to movies and concerts, I like to get the most bang for my buck. I want to watch movies with out of this world surround sound and special effects (with explosions!), and I want my concerts to be gut-bumping loud. If my stomach isn't bouncing to the [...]

The Sandwitches - "Sirens & Bells" The first single off of the upcoming compilation City Limits Presents: San Francisco premiered yesterday: "Sirens & Bells" by The Sandwitches (via Gorilla vs. Bear ). As you know , this fresh, local compilation series is curated by our colleagues Ears of the Beholder and See the Leaves . We're hoping to hear another song or two before the compilation is distributed amongst its Kickstarter supporters, [...]

The music bloggers behind Ears of the Beholder and See The Leaves have founded a new label called City Limits , with the noble goal of producing "collectable time capsules that highlight the best of local music scenes." The first installment features artists from their hometown of San Francisco , with contributions coming from Tim Cohen, Young Prisms, Fiveng, The Soft Moon and more, including this dark, bewitchingly eerie ballad from our favorite Bay Area band, the Sandwitches . City Limits Presents: San Francisco is [...]

Bell 's debut Diamonite drops on May 31 (that came out of nowhere, but I'm fine with that - very fine, in fact); you've heard the explosive Dialtone , here's the equally explosive new jam RIVER . Really love her beats/voice/style in general, can't wait for Diamonite . mp3 Bell - RIVER

Sorry for the lack of posts this week, I've just been swarmed with shows! But luckily for the readers here, I've recorded them all on video. I must say my favourite performance was probably Sleigh Bells , they definitely performed the best. I'm hoping to do more concert coverage this summer for all the Room-Noise readers. So far I'm taking the month of June off from shows to hopefully blog more and do some more research. Currently I'm in the process of getting a press pass for Osheaga, it would be amazing for me to be able to take [...]

Saturday, May 28 th 10:10-10:45 in the Banana Shack In the era of Dubstep and other forms of progressive electronic music Sleigh Bells stands out as a unique and intricate sound combining the striking vocals of singer Alexis Krauss with the overdriven guitar-centric production of Derek Miller. With their addition to the Sasquatch 2011 lineup Sleigh Bells follows in the footsteps of fellow East Coast rock duo MGMT who captivated the Gorge last summer, summoning a rainbow during their performance. Judging by the amount of hype surrounding Sleigh Bells' live show and debut album [...]
![[Concert Review] – Sleigh Bells with CSS](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3429628_lg.jpg)
Tweet If you are the wallflower that stands in the corner with crossed arms and crossed legs, gently bobbing your head, then you do not belong at the Sleigh Bells concert. Or the CSS concert for that matter. Opening for Sleigh Bells at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., CSS ( Cansei de Ser Sexy ) was insane and amazing. Having listened to their music for years but never seeing them live, I was prepared for a high [...]

Nat Baldwin FRIDAY, MAY 6 Right now, it's cool for bands to dabble in basketball, but Nat Baldwin doesn't dabble in it. He turned down a basketball scholarship to study music, and his last record, Most Valuable Player , featured a picture of his MVP trophy from a junior-high-school basketball tournament. Baldwin is most well-known as the bassist for The Dirty Projectors, but he's been putting [...]

The last time Sleigh Bells swung through Nashville, they played the town's favorite hole-in-the-wall venue - a capacity of maybe 300 and in a room the size of a double car garage with an 18 inch tall stage. This was just last summer. Needless to say, things have changed since then for the noisy Brooklyn duo, as a nearly sold out crowd piled into Cannery Ballroom this Tuesday night to snag some Treats . Luckily, the raw energy of their show live hasn't changed at all, as their set proved to be spot-on, intense, [...]

Broken Bells Meyrin Fields EP Columbia Records [2011] Fire Note Says: This is the stylistic groove we were looking for on the Broken Bells debut. Album Review: The Meyrin Fields EP is the second release from the James Mercer (Shins) and Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) vehicle Broken Bells that weirdly enough is what I thought their debut would sound more like. The first two [...]
