Hailing from Sydney, Tim Fitz is the new age one-man band. A band would be happy to have the humble Mr. Fitz as their drummer, or on the keys, or as their lead guitarist, or singer, or even bassist. I'm sure he'd [...]

The fallout from this past weekend's Vomitgate continues to bring some more less then wanted attention on the Kings Of Leon . First came the news that the cancellation of the remaining 29 dates of the U.S., due to lead singer Caleb Followill's "vocal issues and exhaustion," could cost the band as much as $15 million to promoters, venues and others who lost money from the tour. The latest in this seemingly soap opera-style saga, which has also included a telling Tweet from the band's drummer Jared, comes news that the band's management firm Vector [...]
We present five of the best covers Ben Folds has ever performed, including tunes by Dr. Dre, the Clash, the Cure, the Darkness and George Michael.
While collaborating with Bob Saget is clearly the pinnacle for any musician's resume, Ben Folds has had a long, fruitful career up to that glorious moment. Whether it was with Ben Folds Five or on his own, Folds has a rich back catalog, one which he'll make great use of when he releases his career retrospective The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective this October. The three-CD release will see a different focus for each disc. The first, The Best Imitation of Myself , features everything from the Ben Folds [...]

In the most gangsta thing he's done since Half Baked (or possibly the last season of Full House ), Bob Saget surprised Ben Folds at a July 21st concert at LA's The Wiltern by joining the piano man on his cover of Snoop Dogg's "Bitches Ain't Shit". How's that sound, Kimmy Gibbler?

Review - Ben Folds @ The Wiltern - Los Angeles, CA - 07/21/11 This review of Ben Folds at the Wiltern comes from Sussana Dooley Boney. I meet Sussana while we were both working at Paramount Studios in Hollywood and have to say that she is one of the most bubbly and effervescent people I have had the privilege to know. I hadn't seen Sussan in a few years, but by random chance she happened upon a car party that I just so happened to be a part of. She asked me how YTC [...]

They promised us a view. Specifically, the Dave Matthews Band Caravan 's own website promised us that from Lakeside, "the panoramic vista of downtown Chicago across the water will provide a stunning backdrop for the festivities." Instead, we got a panoramic view of security fencing and a grubby, toe-stubbing festival ground littered with broken bricks, shards of metal and glass, and a covering of wood chips that were apparently meant to improve conditions but instead lent the entire place a hamster-cage like feeling. It seems that this site of a former steel plant needs some further TLC before it [...]
Ben Folds releases a new video of his song "Working Day," which is the first cut off his collab with Nick Hornby. The video was comprised of 2,000 audience members in seven cities singing the song a capella style. Basically, Folds figured out a way to make a 14,000 person choir. Nifty. Tweet

At some point in the Nineties, I became fascinated by "rock" covers of hip-hop songs. For example, there's the Gourds' cover of "Gin and Juice," the Barenaked Ladies' version of "Fight the Power" and Dynamite Hack's "Boyz-N-The Hood." It was around '91 when rap music really took off nationally, and we started to see artists like MC 900 Ft. Jesus and Bloodhound Gang mix alternative music and hip-hop elements. What interested me was the recontextualization of lyrics. Let's face it – almost all of hip-hop is rooted in a specific [...]

Ben Folds - Sleazy (Ke$ha cover) Ben Folds - Sleazy (Ke$ha cover) [...]
There are moments when it feels like the other two members from Ben Folds Five should just kid nap their former erstwhile bandmate and make him record good music again. The further and further Folds gets away from the Five, the less his songs become enjoyable. He's basically on the same career trajectory as Rivers Cuomo and Weezer, right? Though, Cuomo's no going back point was Pinkerton . Then there are moments like this, when Ben Folds covers Ke$sha's "Sleazy" and takes something ridiculously horribly and treats it like real music and makes it even more [...]

Last week at Berklee College of Music in Boston , Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman, Ben Folds, and Damian Kulash (OK GO) came together for a recording of 8 songs in 8 hours, (8in8) 8in8. They were able to come up with 6 songs altogether. Below is one of our favorite sung by Damian Kulash. You can stream the entire 6 songs at Amanda Palmer's Bandcamp and grab the tracks for a buck which will benefit the efforts to support Berklee City Music , which provides free music education to underserved teens
