Day raves are always a lot of fun but the novelty becomes lost on a venue like Brown Alley; unless you're lucky enough to wedge yourself into the packed smokers room which offers but a glimpse of sunlight. Novel however promised a lineup that made time irrelevant and sunshine a thing to put off to the next day. Preparing for a day rave raises a lot of confusion too; what time is best to turn up to the club, pre drinks, if any and the most important decision, to go for a day or a night look - [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , Exclusive , RPM Getty Images Making the dubious decision to attend both SXSW and Ultra/WMC/Miami Music Week back to back this year, I land in Miami ready to party, get the flu, die, sleep, never sleep, see friends, meet friends, interview DJs and generally live my life. It's Thursday, I'm headed to the Red Bull Guest House at the Dream Hotel, a new boutique [...]
Berghain's brightest techno asset Ben Klock showcases a 90-minute live set from last week's packed Boiler Room . Klock hit the 5th spot on this year's Resident Advisor's Top 100 poll , and you get a sense of his accomplishment house-infused techno styling in this set. Although better known for his marathon sets, Klock compacts his usual relentless techno guise into a peak-time offering - delivering a shorter live session for the masses to enjoy. You just finished reading Good Morning [...]

It's mid-February now, and we've closed another chapter of the Igloofest chronicle. Almost an extension of the holiday season, the beloved festival serves as a unique mechanism to escape the all too consuming weight of the Montreal Winter. Now that it’s over, thousands of party-goers - upwards of 76,000 to be accurate - must rely on their own devices to persevere towards the effortless joviality of Spring. As always, the celebration exceeded our expectations, leaving only slight and likely superfluous qualms for us to meditate until they are once again wiped from our conscious with [...]

Gotta love a song with a little bit of bounce. I first heard 'Gemini' during Ben Klock's very tight Fabric 66 mix of 2012. When it plays in my earphones, I see a rainbow robot making Play-Doh pizza. The video clip is pretty sweet too. I don't know if it's an official music video - I'm positive it's not - but how sweet is the retro-time-lapse-mission-contr ol thing?

The underground has weighed in on 2012. Resident Advisor 's annual poll came out today and, per usual, its overlaps with DJ Mag Top 100 are few and far between. This year saw American deep house transplant Seth Troxler ascend to the poll's coveted pinnacle, while Richie Hawtin 's unprecedented CNTRL: Beyond EDM tour and eye-opening ENTER Ibiza debut buoyed the M-nus boss into the number-two slot. Eclectic Berlin producer Dixon, Crosstown Rebels darling Maceo Plex , and Klockworks owner Ben Klock round up the rest of the top-five, [...]
Mexican festival drops it's second line-up list...

[ Fabric ] As with his Berghain 04 mix, Fabric 66 frames Ben Klock within a relatively unfamiliar context. A DJ famed for his extended sets, Klock's club output relies heavily on the absence of temporal restriction, using deep, hypnotic repetition to forge his connection with the crowd. A CD, however, is not a dance floor. Squeezing 24 tracks into 73 minutes (as many as on Fabriclive 64 [...]

★★★★☆ Another month, another Fabric mix, another Berlin selector at the controls. The sound of underground alliances at work, forced down and sealed airtight, snipping away constantly, twitching between new skools and old – it’s techno wanting your full concentration and investment in celebrating the human metronome. It almost drifts into ambience with K-Hand’s "Starz," the lightest indication that Klock’s dominantly steely streak constantly issues warnings if not full-on rebukes. Sagat’s "Few Mysteries..." is like a flex of the cane without the subsequent whiplash, as Klock dangles a sword of Damocles over the dance floor. Steve [...]

We have discovered the super cute series that Richie Hawtin has been making to promote his Enter residency at Space Ibiza . The videos feature the man himself hanging out in the pool with other techno legends like Magda , Mathew Jonson and Ben Klock ahead of the big night. They chat about music, sake and sunshine and display their under water skills. Make sure you check out the whole series on the MinusOfficial YouTube channel , they are well worth the watch. We have major envy of Magda's [...]

Dimensions Festival is a brand new festival for 2012 and may have just shot to the number one spot on our festival wish list . Brought to us from the team that run Outlook festival, Dimensions is set at the same amazing location in Croatia. The festival describes itself as 'Underground music in an abandoned fort' which totally sells it to us in just six words. Looking through the pictures on their facebook page it really does look like a beautiful and unique raving experience. [...]

I know what your thinking; "what is Low-Life doing at a place noted for their unparallelled line-up of "the world's biggest EDM artists," (shudder); at what Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike (don't ask) so eloquently predicted to be "one hell of a crazy weekend;" a place where names like Avicii and David Guetta are spoken with either a religious solemnity or with the volume and duration of one of those travel-sized air horns? Why, Low-Life? Why?" [case in point...] Why not? It [...]

You'll probably have heard about Richie Hawtin and the Minus crews new residency 'Enter' at Space, Ibiza on Thursdays already. There has been a super slick advertising campaign (watch the very cool promo video below with an amazing track from Hobo ) and Richie and the team have been sharing their adventures with us all on facebook by posting plenty of pictures. For 12 weeks Enter gives us amazing line-ups featuring loads of our favourite techno acts including Mathew Jonson , Magda , Gaiser , [...]

Scuba (aka Paul Rose) and Ben Klock are two of Europe’s most in-demand producers; the former has exploded into 2012 with Personality, a divisive but undeniably bold third album, and an increasingly varied release schedule on his Hotflush imprint, while the latter continues to tour the world as a DJ and maintain a now legendary residency at Berghain. http://www.junodownload.com/pl us/2012/04/03/interview-scuba- vs-ben-klock/ deepgoa.blogspot.com your urban music guide © dg , 2012

Happy Friday everyone. The holiday season has arrived, which means its once again time to stand in long lines at the mall while listening to horrible Christmas songs that no one actually likes. In other words, it's the most wonderful time of the year. That being said, I do hope you all have a good holiday weekend coming up where you have a chance to rest and relax with family and good friends. I have a few holiday goodies for you all today courtesy of Pleasurekraft, NT89, Nic Fanciulli, Clouds and a few others. The mixtape this week [...]
