Earlier this year String Cheese Incident keyboard player and accomplished homebrewer Kyle Hollingsworth previewed his collaborative beer with the Boulder Beer Company - Hoopla Pale Ale - at the band's Winter Carnival. The dry-hopped beer, which Hollingsworth specifically designed for drinking at summer music festivals, will get its official national release both on tap as well as in 22-ounce bottles on May 14, with a special launch party at the Boulder Beer Company's brewpub in Boulder, CO. Here's the official description... Hoopla [...]
Marco Benevento and Joe Russo played the Highline Ballroom in New York City this past Friday night, and our good friend Whitperson was there to catch the action. He shot a couple videos from the show that are attached below along with some from Paul Langedoc's YouTube channel. Sweet... Also, Jambands.com has a photo gallery [...] Related posts: Sights and Sounds: Marco Benevento Trio in Syracuse, 5/7/09 Benevento/Russo Duo @ Martyr's, Chicago 9/7/08 Benevento / Russo Duo Also Releasing [...]
While The Duo dates are few and far between these days, the two individual members of the band have steadily been keeping themselves busy with other projects. Joe Russo is currently on tour with Furthur and Marco Benevento plays dates with his rotating trio. Benevento, whose third solo album Between The Needles & Nightfall came out in May, recently released this manic self-shot video for Greenpoint... Marco Beneveneto - Greenpoint Marco, who Ryan interviewed last [...]

You can expect the "flyering" to be non-stop at festivals across the country this weekend as street teams hand out flyers and hand bills promoting future events. In an effort to grab festivalgoer's attention some of the promotional materials contain the name of acts that haven't been formally announced yet. For example, we came across a flyer for moe.down XI that includes a few groups that weren't part of the initial artist announcement . As you can see, Mike Gordon will return to moe.down for [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Founding Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh turned 70 on Monday but he celebrated it over the weekend with a little help from his friends. At the sold-out Bill Graham Civic Arena in San Francisco -- site of many historic Grateful Dead related shows -- Lesh anchored a three set, six hour spectacle which included a Mardi Gras style parade and balloon drop. The evening was billed " Furthur and Friends" with proceeds benefiting Lesh's Unbroken Chain Foundation to help funnel [...]
Becky > Foam > Becky Benevento/Russo Duo w/ Mike Gordon July 22, 2006 - 10,000 Lakes Festival

If your name is Roger Daltrey or Pete Townsend, it's looking like 2010 is going to be a heck of year for you. As we previously reported, The Who will serve as the halftime entertainment at Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, FL on February 7. Then, come March, the seminal classic rock act will be honored via a tribute concert at New York City's Carnegie Hall. The concert, the sixth in the series presented by Knitting Factory founder/City Winery owner Michael Dorf, will feature [...]
Benevento/Russo Duo : Another instrumental take here, this one they dedicate to The Slip's Brad Barr. Speaking of which, you can find another great rendition of this song on the LMA that in addition to The Duo, features Andrew Barr & Marc Friedman from The Slip. Source: 7-4-2003 Brothers Past : Most of the covers are pretty to-the-point this week, thankfully we have Brothers Past to extend their take to the 10-minute mark before dropping into their next song. A nice recording of these guys. Source: [...]

Now They're Writing Music from Michael DiDonna on Vimeo . I just realized the other day that I've seen Marco Benevento more times during 2009 than any other artist, and he's staying busy this fall with dates around the country with his trio, his Duo, and his supergroup of jamband jazz cats. He just released a video for "Now They're Writing Music" from his Me Not Me release, and he's playing tonight in Brooklyn opening for Mike Gordon on his "Get Bassed" tour . [...]

Starting August 17, The Highline Ballroom will play host to its first Highline Piano Series, a weeklong slate of shows that, not so uncoincidentally, will feature some amazing pianists and keyboard players. On Monday night, the series will open will an acoustic performance from The Benevento Russo Duo. While Marco Benevento and Joe Russo haven't been hard to find with their various other projects
Thanks Yankus for the heads up.... Jambase.com reports: As we reported earlier, Marco Benevento will be doing a string of dates in the Northeast during November. The Slip's Andrew Barr was originally scheduled to play drums for three of the dates, but his tour with Land Of Talk has been extended and now Phish's Jon Fishman will take over. Fishman will perform with Benevento and bassist Reed Mathis for four shows from November 7-10. Benevento's trio for the final four dates will still feature JFJO's Josh Raymer and Slip bassist Marc Friedman. [...]
The live music universe is a world filled with ebbs and flows of energy; when things get busy, they really get busy and then there will be a down period. Suffice to say that in Chicago, right when that 90 day limit Lollapalooza puts on its performers finishes , October is busy. Everyone is touring. In addition, there have been a number of announcements of late pertaining to New Years Eve. So gathered here is a pretty solid compendium of who's playing where on December 31st. The venue link will get you to ticket information for the mentioned shows. [...]

Caught the Duo show tonight down at South Street Seaport, and went in expecting very little. What we got in actuality was one of the more intimate shows I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure there were more people at our St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun party then there were in this circus tent. Didn't stay the whole night, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Joe Russo ... still the absolute man. Check out these photos I was able to take on my trusty iPhone!!!!....

The Duo are one of those bands. They sing barely a sound during their entire set, but they converse with each other through casual banter with the audience. They drink Maker's Mark convincingly. They turn cartoons themes into anthems. They are addictive. This only my third time seeing the two Italians, Andrew said it was near his tenth. All glory aside, there wasn't a huge crowd at the north side venue. Even still, everyone who was there stayed past midnight on a Sunday, which Benevento acknowledged right before he told everyone where to stash the drugs (under his van's [...]
With the Outside Lands Festival coming up this weekend, we thought it'd be awful helpful to pull together playlists for each day of the festival so you can sample to a bit of each artist before you go. I've tried to find representative and/or live songs for each artist to give a good idea of what you're in store for. With our fancy new media player, you can even hit the little play button next to any song and listen to it as a mix even without downloading anything. Here is the first of three days. [...]

the eclectic brooklyn drums & piano (& toys & samples &...) jam band benevento/russo duo will begin a four night residency at mojito on grant ave this coming sunday, 17 august, before joining the rest of the massive lineup at outside lands the following weekend. tickets for the mojito shows, which, of course, will be a far more intimate experience than at the festival, are 12$ . here's the title track from the duo's latest album, play pause stop : benevento/russo duo - play pause stop

Two accomplished musicians playing outside. The Benevento/Russo Duo comes to The Yard in Brooklyn: Riding the line between a jam band and indy rock duo, the pair have since taken the world by storm with their cathedral-sized sounds, jazz chops, and rock-laden riffs. Their new album, Play Pause Stop, highlights the evolution of their music – the two bring on guitars, Mellotrons, Wurlitzers, and bass where there previously was only keyboard and drums. On June 28th, the duo's national tour brings them to The Yard, for a day of astounding musical vistas and a jam [...]
Langerado just released the schedule today and it looks pretty good. Here is my personalized schedule so far. If you are still on the fence whether to go to this one, I'm gonna go through some of the smaller acts that I'm really excited about. The first band on the "Swamp Stage" is right here from Altanta, Dead Confederate . I believe they are going to be one of the ATL bands that get big nationally by the end of this year (they were handpicked to open for R.E.M. at SXSW), because their [...]
