We linked up with York UK-based singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich while he was in Los Angeles this past winter kicking off his debut headlining U.S. tour. We had the very distinct pleasure to capture a couple exclusive performances; including "Maps" filmed on the inside of a photobooth as well as an impromptu performance of "Break The Day Open" from his In The Open EP. Since wrapping his last string of European tour dates, Ben has been recording and prepping the release of a new album. We can't wait and we will definitely keep you posted [...]
Today it is my pleasure to showcase one of the most exciting acts coming out of Ireland. Cillo is a young producer who we have often featured here on Not Some Kid, and for good reason too. With sounds ranging from beautiful harmonic chillstep to downtempo house, Cillo is someone you should definitely get to [...]
Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Song: Ben Howard - Old Pine [download here ] What's so good? Sundays are a good day to put aside the electronic indie rock remixes and bring in some acoustic folk. I stumbled upon this song by Ben Howard [...]

I knew I was going to enjoy the show with Benjamin Francis Leftwich , but what I didn’t know was how funny he was. Dead funny. Sometimes an artist will take the stage and mumble through his set. Sometimes they’ll not talk to the audience at all. I’ve even experienced painful, strained discourse that makes me pray they’ll shut up. Leftwich not only was comfortable in his own skin all alone on stage, but he drolly deadpanned his way throughout his set leaving us all giggling. The evening started off a little on [...]
Philly garage rock four-piece The Eeries are back in South Philly after a winter tour, and are part of a big lineup at Kung Fu Necktie tonight. The band released its debut full-length Home Alone on cassette via Burger Records back in September, and you can get a good sense of the ramshackle rock and ... Continue reading ’
There are a couple of things I feel really, really passionately about. First is music, obviously, but I also love Oscar Wilde*, think no summer is complete without a trip to at least one music festival, and have fierce Ohio pride (at least for the southern half; Cleveland is disgusting). You can understand then why I could not be more excited to get to share the Bunbury Music Festival lineup with you all. Set against the backdrop of the Queen City (that's Cincinnati, thank you), Bunbury is a multi-stage fest that takes place in some of the most gorgeous city [...]

A super Saturday for shows: â–º The legendary Ian Hunter is 73, but the Mott the Hoople main man sounds every bit the impetuous youth on his brawny new album "When I'm President." Ian Hunter & the Rant Band visit the El Rey Theatre tonight. His live setlists have included new material and catalog gems, including "Saturday Gigs" and, yes, "All the Young Dudes." â–º Early show alert: Long-running L.A. indie rockers Radar Brothers celebrate the release of their new album "Eight" (just out on Merge) with a show [...]

With the snow making everything look a bit more idyllic than usual, what better a time than now to post this rather wintry-looking live clip of Yorkshire singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich , shot by the good folks at Crypt Sessions . Watch above. It's like Christmas belated. Leftwich's latest EP, In The Open , was released back in November, with a set of UK live dates coming in May 2013.

The UK has recently had quite the resurgence in the indie folk rock genre. One of the artists at the forefront of this movement is Benjamin Francis Leftwich. Already an accomplished singer-songwriter, he has carved out a unique style that has defined him as a great talent on the rise. With the excitement surrounding his latest EP, In The Open , we took some time to catch up with Benjamin and see what he has been up to! AMBY: Which three songs are the quintessential Benjamin Francis Leftwich? BFL: [...]

Today's Guest Post is from Toronto based musician Donovan Woods. Woods has contributed here before and once again he provides a list from the year of songs he found to be on repeat more than others. A fairly busy last 12 months for him (as you will read) and I know from very good sources that a new album is due very soon, so keep an eye out for it. So then, let's get on with it.... ~~~ This year I played more shows than I ever have [...]
As with all things in life, TV shows come and go. Some have very short life spans (like every show I've ever liked on Fox) while other manage to pass the test of time. One of those that has managed to stay relevant has been Grey's Anatomy . Grey's Anatomy began its run way back in 2005, when it started as a mid-season replacement for ABC. Now in its ninth season, the show has followed the residents of Seattle Grace Hospital through the medical careers, relationships, heart aches, and tragedy... while at the same [...]
Sunday chillin' courtesy of Benjamin Francis Leftwich's new EP ' In The Open ' out last month.

Tweet Benjamin Francis Leftwich bears a passing resemblance to a Gnome. The picture above doesn't quite do the comparison justice, but trust me, I've seen him live and with his well-worn beanie in place he's a spit for Big Ears from the Noddy cartoons. Granted he lacks the white beard and red pointy hat synonymous with Gnomes the world over, but let's not spoil our tale. I find it quite easy to imagine that at night all [...]
