I got into Britney Spears, sorta. I really dug Hanson. I was "In Da Club" with everyone else, I even read a book, read a book, read a mother-fuckin' book. But this year's pop crop left me cold as a slurpee in an Iron Man 2 souvenir cup. But lotsa folks seemed to dig the folks whose music is covered in this series of posts . . . As promised, here is the official soundtrack of the 4th season of Grey's Anatomy. Other than Grey's Anatomy, other hit shows like Gossip Girl, Chuck, Fringe, Glee, Dollhouse, One Tree Hill, Ugly Betty, House and many more. You've got to give a hand to the music supervisors of these shows for their success. The music is not perfect, but it's certainly entertaining. The show goes mostly for indie favorites like The National, Ingrid Michaelson, The Gossip, Tegan and Sara, The Bird and the Bee, Bon Iver, Feist, Goldfrapp, Rilo Kiley, Frightened Rabbit, The Republic Tigers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more. Ben's Brother - Pockerface [Lady GaGa]

The deliveries of audio-fuel here at the Eclectic Eveasdropping refuel station have been far from regular but I'd like to think that the quality remains on par. Here are some recent covers from the depths of the giant interweb. I hope they do the trick: Metric – Don't Think Twice It's Alright (Bob Dylan Cover) [...]

"Cover Me" deserves mad love for the recent "Songs of the Summer" post-covers of Lady Ga Ga, Drake, Asher Roth, Jordin Sparks . . . These are my two faves, but definitely head over and check 'em all out. I Do Not Hook Up(Kelly Clarkson)-Gaslight Anthem Poke Her Face (Lady Ga Ga)-Ben's Brother

It's the last day of August – time to look back at the songs that defined Summer '09. Admittedly, the "song of the summer" thing always seems to become clearer in retrospect, but in terms of sheer ubiquity it's hard to beat the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow." In fact, the only group that can really challenge them is…the Black Eyes Peas, for the grammatical nightmare "I Gotta Feeling." Guys, "gotta" is short for "got to," not "got a." Regardless, here are the contenders. My song of the summer is number two. [...]

Photo: Ian Broudie (Lightning Seeds) The Liverpool Summer Pops Festival has announced the line-up for their first ever 'INDIE WEEKENDER' , which takes place on Sunday July 19, 2009 at the Liverpool 02 Academy . Liverpool band THE LIGHTNING SEEDS , will celebrate their 20th anniversary this year, with a special hometown show at the Philharmonic, on Sunday 26th July. And here is where the difficulty starts. Two shows on the same night and your team are also in action in the play-offs! Nightmare.... so touring schedules are checked and options in Sheffield, manchester and Liverpool are considered. If your not a football or Luke Doucet fan though, you could do worse than check out Ben's Brother at the Rescue Rooms. Touring in support of their new album, Ben's brother made an impression on me with the song 'Let Me Out' from their debut album. Despite having a distinctive voice and some very hummable songs, Ben's Brother were dropped after [...]

British five-piece band, Ben's Brother, so named after lead singer Jamie Hartman's bigger brother Ben, released their first album "Beta Male Fairytales" in July last year. A typically British alternative rock/pop band, the album included some great songs, quite often in the key of Keane, but that's no bad thing. When it was released in the US later, a bonus track was included, that strikes me as even better. It was released in the UK, but just missed the top 40, reaching #41 in the charts. Apparently the band has another single on the horizon, but it might not see [...]

Sigur Rós hafa yfirtekið YouTube og próma þar hina stórfenglegu mynd sína Heima . Þú ert náttúrulega fyrir löngu búinn að skella þér þangað og athuga um hvað málið snýst ekki satt? Heyrði í morgun eitthvað sem átti að vera demóið af nýju Metallica plötunni. Ég veit nú ekki hvað þetta átti að vera sem ég heyrði þarna en ef satt reynist, að þetta hafi verið nýtt efni með gamlingjunum, þá er ljóst að sveitin er að hverfa aftur til upprunans í einhvern Kill'em All [...]

So I'm late on both. Vampire Weekend was very last week, and Ben's Brother ended up on a Dentyne Ice commercial. I'll take that as being extremely late. But I want to stray a bit from posting mostly electro/club music and get some indie in here, because I definitely listen to indie almost as much as I do electro if not more. I'm starting to like the Vampire Weekend song A-Punk. I saw the video a couple times on MTV and was told about it when it came out, but I just brushed [...]

Ah, it seems winter is finally about to settle in on Atlanta, I've got Friday afternoon off, and I'll be visiting The Pub tonight for some frosty livations, and again tomorrow morning for the big matches . Then, it's off to find a cheesy xmas sweater for a party Saturday night. So, instead of comments this week, post a pic of your favorite xmas jumper, yeah? Okay, I know nobody leaves comments here, but I thought it'd be funny. Anyhow, enjoy the music, your weekend, and the cold weather (*if you've missed it like I [...]

I traveled to London to catch Ben's Brother perform their last headlining show of 2007 at the Scala. Beforehand, I caught up with lead singer Jamie Hartman who was full of optimism for 2008. The band's Beta Male Fairytales has just been released stateside (Dec. 4th). The band's track "Stuttering" was recently featured in a Dentyne Ice advert giving them a new audience. More recently, a song was featured in an episode of Greys Anatomy. As I'm [...]
