The Australian homeland efforts are already in place to help those out who have suffered from the massive flooding in Queensland, with an already SOLD OUT show featuring musical talents of Australia's best talent in Melbourne. As the poster states above 100% of the profits will go to benefit the relief efforts. Bertie Blackman, one of the performing artists, stated that they will be sharing the content (most likely via digital production) from the live show to support further efforts for helping the victims. Bertie Blackman remade the 1988 hit from Siouxie & The Banshees called "Peek-A-Boo". She did a great job of updating the song and making it her own. I've got the music video for you, the original edit of the song, and a remix from The Slips. If you are not familiar with Bertie and her music, follow the links at the end of the article for prior posts and free music and videos from Bertie Blackman on Dancefloor Mayhem. Here is the music video for Peek-A-Boo: Bertie Blackman [...]

As the snow pours down outside my window, I kinda felt the time was right to look back on 2010 through rose-tinted glasses. Individual tracks often get overlooked on year end lists whilst us scribes scratch our heads to compile the albums that rocked our world. I always find it hard, especially as I often fall in love with artists yet to reach the dizzy heights of an album release. With that in mind, this year I have decided to drop in my twenty favourite songs of 2010. The easiest way is to link you to the [...]

Covering the 1988 classic industrial/tape-loop single "Peek-a-boo", originally done by the one and only Siouxsie And The Banshees, Australian dark chanteuse Bertie Blackman and her cohorts have composed a dark, more morose version of the song (if it were possible, that is) paired with a shadowy, tingly, steel blue-tinged video treatment for the bouncy, bass-brass-and-plucked-strings [...]
Bertie Blackman - "Thump " Somebody told me that Bertie Blackman was a folk artist and from Sydney. The latter is true. The former, however, is only half true. In 2009, Bertie ditched most of her folk sound, along with her sweet blonde hair, for something darker and dancier. Having Architecture in Helsinki's and Goldfrapp's producers, she's recorded an album, S ecrets & Lies , which is some parts La Roux and some parts Florence & The Machine. Not surprisingly, her album won an ARIA award for 'Best Independent Release.' Surprisingly, [...]

Let it be known that Siouxsie is one of our most beastly favorite artists ever, blending style, drama and pop musicialities into her own eccentric outpourings. So anytime I see that someone has covered any of her original pieces, my first inclination is to cringe, however, when being shown that Bertie Blackman , the Aussie singer whose voice we're completely enamored with, tackled a Sioux-song, we went "well, ok..." then got to loving on it. [...]

Ryan (StopMe): My God it's been a long time since I did a TEN4SE7EN (Work commitments being the excuse). I've missed it and hopefully this post will be the first of many: On a trip to HMV I found they were selling last year's über-deluxe Chris Rea triple-cd/double-vinyl/book 'The Return Of The Fabulous Hofner Bluenotes' for the insane price of £8 English pounds. I'm never really listened to the guy before but at that price it was worth a punt. It's chock full of classy Blues numbers and clever Shadows tributes. The smouldering [...]
Roska feat. Jamie George - Wonderful Day: холодный, но застревающий в голове UK-Funky мотив до того модный в последнее время. The Brockout - Shake Down:

So we had talked about The Dirty Disco a little while back . Their glam, electro-pop reminded us a lot of Lady Gaga if she had decided to strap a guitar to her body instead of Kermit the Frog. Anyway, the first single, "Sista"!, was finally released on iTunes for the world to enjoy today, so I suggest you do the same as well. As a free goodie we have a remix by The Dirty Disco for Aussie star Bertie Blackman' s track "Black Cats" for download. Check it out below. enjoy! [...]

Hot on the heels of my introducing post comes my album review. It's not often an artist gets a two for the price of one from me. Bertie Blackman is well worth keeping in the front of your mind. The album is pretty close to the top of my pile of promo's this month. Had it not been for the excellent releases by both Husky rescue and the Communion Club Compilation, Bertie would of been top of the pile. Described as Australia's Florence Welch, you can draw the parallels for sure from the opener "Town Of Sorrow". I [...]

Continuing the bloodline of extremely well-thought-out edits of 25-year-old Australian upstart electro pop singer Bertie Blackman's track "Black Cats", The Dirty Disco, a London crew of ragamuffins who have excellent hair and even better eye makeup for a bunch of...

Aussie pop rocker Bertie Blackman is becoming a remixer favorite. After remixes by Last Japan , Duosseudo , Shazam, CIS and Wild Turkeys , emerging British electro-pop sensation Dirty Disco is giving Blackman's new singe "Blackcats" a groovy spin of their own. I blogged about Dirty Disco a few weeks ago when they released their cover of Florence & The Machine's "Rabbit Heart." The group strikes a perfect blance between emo-fueled pop rock and '80s inspired synth pop with a theatrical twist. They bring all of those eclectic qualities to their Bertie Blackman revamp. [...]

Thrilled to learn that Bertie Blackman will be going on tour with La Roux in March, which is some much needed exposure for this gal that people are calling "The Aussie Florence". Careful, people with the Florence comparison. But I would say she is indeed talented in her own right. My personal fav track of Blackman's, below. That chorus! And I know there's something sick With what I've been sold I've been tricked, poisoned, mislead In what I've been told Oh baby you don't [...]

These tunes will make you forget how bitterly cold it is out. Couple of different genres this weekend, but no matter what mood/mode your in, one of these songs should fill your aural needs. enjoY! Country Gents - See No Evil (Crazy P Remix) -Dope House track. my favorite from the 4. The Doggs - Animal -punk-rock track that will bring back those thrashing days. Another favorite. Bertie Blackman - Black Cats (Last Japan Edit) -little [...]
