Just as many other groups American surf pop duo BEST COAST released a special vinyl on last weekend's Record Store Day. In this case it was a new single, named Fear Of My Identity. It's the first new material by Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno since last year's longplayer The Only Place. When she gets it wrong, listening to her music can be like listening to annoying friend complain about things you don't give two fucks about. But when she pulls it off, it's usually in the form of extremely infectious, pure-feeliung pop that gets stuck in your head and has you singing along happily as can be. Green Day , such crowd-pleasers when they visited Pomona in March , came back around for a good old-fashioned arena show on Thursday and again thrilled a full house. The punk-rock veterans played for 2 1/2 hours (counting encores) on Thursday at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, touched on songs from every one of their albums and even tossed in a metal-to-pop medley that included "Satisfaction," "Highway to Hell," "Hey Jude" (with full-on crowd participation and "California Here I Come."
