Guitarist Paul Waggoner of Between the Buried and Me got his eye jacked up while doing the most unmetal of all things: sleeping. Unfortunately he was uninsured. [The doctors] looked at my eye and said, "yeah, you don't really have a cornea anymore. It's scratched off." I was like, "oh, christ." My eye was constantly tearing for a month. It cost me like, $2,000, for nothing. Just to have them look at it. I decided to get health insurance after that. Coming soon: vanflip [...]

15 years after their last studio release, a famously elusive metal metal band with an enormously influential debut has followed up. That's right, boys and girls, it's the rabidly anticipated comeback album from...Cynic. On 1993's Focus, some Florida-based musicians (including guitarist Paul Masvidal and drummer Sean Reinart, both formerly of Death) demolished four or five musical [...]
Yeah, we know it's a little hokey, but with an American holiday centered around food consumption close at hand, any post involving the topic of stuffing our gullets is apropos. We even feature one band that we didn't have to bastardize in order to gormandize. Think of it as a little trivia dog wrapped in a big, buttery, campy croissant. Any and all user submitted parody names and Photoshops are encouraged in the comments. Have at it! Full list after the jump. 25. Explosions in the Pie [...]

That new Ray LaMontagne album should be fun. I'm hoping the sense of humor he used on "Meg White" will show up more. Between the Buried and Me has a new DVD out. Ben Pike linked me to a trailer last week and it looked pretty sweet. If you like Haste the Day's new vocalist, their new album is worth checking out. He's finally coming into his own. The only thing I know about the new Dillinger Four album is that [...]
That's binary code for "The Binary Code fucking rules." No, really, it is. Because they do. Have you heard their latest track "The Story" yet? Check it below - for now, at least, it's a MetalSucks exclusive, until you pass it on to all of your friends because you love it so much. Think a [...]

Check out artist Filipe Oliveria , who seems to do buttloads of merch designs for scary bands. Strong colors, contrast, and nice use of black and white. They remind me of those cheesy airbrushed paintings you see on the sides of 184-passenger vans, but with a quality ranging from decent to eye-popping.

James Montgomery goofed. He covered that whole ' Deerhunter leaked entire collection of music ever made to the internets' thing . Then he said he covered it like an average blogger. The problem? He writes for MTV News: "I basically recapped the entire event in a condescending tone, put words in Cox's mouth (the whole "Blames You" headline), and did not bother attempting to contact him for further comment or clarification. I was irresponsible and one-sided. In other words, I covered the whole thing the way your average blogger would ." [...]
Holy crap - according to Billboard, OzzFest grossed $3.5 million this year . Said Sharon Osbourne, "The one thing is you want for the kids to go away and keep talking about what a great show it was, and that's what they're doing." Yea, looks like David Draiman, singer for Disturbed is still talking about their last appearance on the tour. When asked how their current tour is compared to Ozzfest, well... "It always seemed to me that the [...]
Told you all it would be a good week for death metal! The Black Dahlia Murder have been added to Children Of Bodom 's upcoming U.S. Tour. The tour, which will also feature Between The Buried And Me , kicks off mid-September and does an excellent job criss-crossing the US. If you haven't seen The Black Dahlia Murder, we suggest you do so. Vocalist Trevor Strnad does an excellent job bouncing back and forth between his two vocal deliveries, and as we've previously mentioned their material is pretty good too. [...]

After fellating Protest the Hero's incredible early-2008 release Fortress for two months solid (culminating in my first ever 5 of 5 horns review ), I was immediately let down by successive announcements that the band would be touring with shit emo bands through the entire summer. Finally someone in the band's camp has come to their senses and packaged them with a lineup that will put them in front of the metal audience that NEEDS to know about this band. And finally, I will be able to go see them live. Lambgoat is reporting a [...]
While these dates are currently only being advertised as CHILDREN OF BODOM and BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, Metal Injection can confirm that the BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will be joining the two other metal titans for what will sure be a front-to-back amazing lineup. Here are the tour dates: September 11 - Baltimore, MD @ Rams [...]
A five part "metal opera" re-telling of 2005's Batman Begins utilizing the music of Between the Buried and Me? Generally I'd say that falls under the heading of "way too much free fucking time." But with Dark Knight -mania sweeping the nation and it being a slow news day (Hey, did you guys know Metallica and Slipknot have new albums coming out?), it seemed as good a time as any to post this. Watch part 1 below; part 2 is after the jump... and I guess the promised parts 3 through 5 are still in [...]

OK. So I know that I haven't been posting very much in the past few weeks, but freelancing has picked up! Fortunately, I still have 12 things that might interest you, even though they're metal (save for two of them). I just did these alphabetically so my brain didn't explode. Aeon - Rise to Dominate / Metal Blade Aeon - "Godless" (Metal Blade 2007) [...]

"I am folded, and unfolded, and unfolding..." We all love the Crows, but assuming you already own, love and listen everyday to everything they've ever put out, let's do something different. This compilation ( Dead and Dreaming: An Indie Tribute To The Counting Crows ) came out at least a couple of years ago, but I held off on picking it up because it was filled with bands my teenage brother bops around to – always a good reason to stay away, right? Anyways, I became [...]
