Azealia Banks, Ed Sheeran, Justice, Metronomy and TEED also make up some of the bill. See above for everyone announced so far. The UKs favourite stadium-rocking Scots alt boys Biffy Clyro have revealed their new album will be rather eclectic. Lead guitarist and singer Simon Neil elaborated on details of the album, stating it will be a "20-song double album which will include keyboards, strings, ' Phil Collins -type' electronic beats, and even veers into a mariachi sound. 'It sounds dangerous when you say it out loud but we're trying to explore writing songs in a different manner,' although he did reassure fans that 'We're not going to throw every song we've ever done on [...]
MORE monsters of rock have been lined up for Download festival, taking place in Castle Donington this June. Grunge legends Soundgarden will play the UK for the first time since 1996 with a visit to Donington Park. Band member Matt Cameron said: "We are beyond psyched to play Download 2012. It will be a huge year for the band and what better way to celebrate than bring it all to our UK family at Download. See you there!" Also coming are Scottish sensations Biffy Clyro, while Jack Black and Kyle Gass' musical endeavour Tenacious [...]

UK rockers, get ready to do some dancing and some headbanging at Donington Park this year. The line up for the 10th annual Download festival was recently announced and the line up is rather big for fans of hard rock and metal. Headlining this whole shindig are Metallica, Black Sabbath and The Prodigy. You've also got Chase & Status, Biffy Clyro and Soundgarden providing support (even though I think Soundgarden should be a headliner but that's just me.) Other bands appearing include Tenacious D, Machine Head, Lamb of God, You Me At Six, Trivium, [...]

It was inevitable, I suppose. When we started this blog way back in 2007, Rihanna was just another rising star in the pop world, a Barbadian teenage beauty queen with a sweet backstory and her first multichart number one single just starting to get coverage. But ignoring the 23 year old superstar gets harder every year. Her continued work as a performer of hits, and as a collaborator with other rap and pop stars of no small stature, is readily admired by fans for its power, and for the confidence she brings [...]

This is how rock should sound. A thumping beat, a classy yet rough around the edges riff, and a radio-friendly chorus make this new single by Underclass perfect for the music collection of any fan of fellow Scottish rock giants Biffy Clyro. With Kev O'Rourke's Star-Trek sounding keyboards slotting effortlessly into the concoction, the Edinburgh Quintet add a new, interesting dimension to a sound copied a million times before, and are on to a real winner with this single, and hopefully for those that follow too. Starting with the Harley Rock Riders Season II Finale at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on the first day of the month to Metallica's first ever show in the country, October played host to a bunch of exciting gigs across the country. Having selected the 10 Best Gig Photos of September and the 10 Best Gig Photos of The Year (So Far) just the month before that, picking ten photos from a plethora of options, is no easy task. Gigs in the month of October have encompassed genres, scales and barricades. Check out the [...]

STV have come in for some massively unfair stick in the past, but they have come back fighting this week with one of the funniest pieces I've seen in ages. This week they published a list of nominations for the best Scottish songs of the noughties, to be voted for by viewers, with the intention of eventually whittling the numbers down to select 'Scotland's Greatest Ever Album'. And it is hilarious . The list of nominated songs for the last ten years or so is absolutely brilliant. I can't tell if it's the best satire [...]

How about something nice and quiet for you to have your dinner to? How about no. I can generally take or leave Biffy, but the stuff at the start of their career is the more takeable, and Jaggy Snake is good stuff any way you dress it up. Suppose the second session track might fall into "topical" territory, but I didn't notice that till I was about hit hit "post" on the session. Fun cover version too. Biffy Clyro - John Peel Session 22.01.2004 1. There's No Such Thing As A [...]

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro will play their first shows in India this month. The band will support Metallica at both their dates - F1 Rocks in New Delhi on October 28, and Rock 'N India in Bangalore on October 30. The trio from Kilmanrock released their fifth studio album Only Revolutions in 2009, and were nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2010. We caught the band live in the UK earlier this year and while the familiarity of the music with the British crowd helped the cause, we can safely say that [...]
