Biffy Clyro is the biggest band you’ve never heard of—if you live in the US, that is. In the UK and continental Europe, the Glaswegian power trio top charts and fill arenas. They win “Best New Band” awards from NME, “Best Music Video,” and “Best Live Band” honors, too. But these accomplishments are just the start for brothers James and Ben Johnston (bass/ vocals and drums/ vocals, respectively) and frontman/ guitarist Simon Neil. Their brand-new album, Opposites, debuted at #1 on the UK charts, which is [...]
As far as I know, the the biggest NYC venue headlined to date by Biffy Clyro is the 500-capacity Gramercy Theater. I've seen them there, and in considerably smaller spaces, too - the Studio At Webster Hall (capacity: 300) and Bowery Electric (capacity: 200). And Biffy absolutely lays waste to rooms that size. I can't think of any band in any genre that plays with more intensity, certainly none that does so while playing such intricate music. Of course, part of the reason why Biffy blow the doors off tiny rooms in the States is because they're accustomed to headlining [...]

Arcane Roots Blood & Chemistry PIAS Recordings 06 May 2013 by Gavin Lloyd Ever since Arcane Roots started seeping into people's consciousness, there has been one comparison that has repeatedly been brought up. A little band who have recently scored a number one album and completed a sold-out arena tour of the country by the name of Biffy [...]
Along with hundreds of bands last weekend, the now arena dominating Biffy Clyro released a limited edition 7" for Record Store Day. On it you got a live rendition of their single " Black Chandelier " and a completely new, previously unheard track called "City of Dreadful Night". It's taken a little longer for it to appear online than I'd of thought but hey, we've got the goods for you guys now and you can listen to it below. Biffy just wrapped up performances at Coachella and have some festival and arena dates with Muse [...]
photos by Dana (distortion) Yavin Muse @ MSG 4/15/2013 I've seen Muse in concert many times before and they never disappoint. On their second of 2 sold out nights at New York's Madison Square Garden, despite feeling very under the weather, Muse did their jobs as rockstars and for two hours catapulted me into another time and space! Here are 10 reasons Muse are one of the best band ever. 1. Non-stop stage action for two solid hours. This [...]
Taking to the stage right before Dizzee Rascal and Muse themselves, Bastille will be performing at Coventry's Richo Arena, London's Emirates Stadium and Manchester's Etihad Stadium. Biffy Clyro however will be playing with Muse on their North American tour and will also tour together this summer at selected shows across Europe. Biffy will be the main support for dates in Amsterdam, Paris, Turin and Berlin throughout June and July.
News: Watch: Biffy Clyro Reveal New Video For ‘Opposite̵ 7;
Biffy Clyro have unveiled the latest video to be taken from their new album 'Opposites'. This time around, they've showcased the clip for the album's (almost sort-of) title track, 'Opposite', which sees frontman Simon Neil reliving some rather troubled memories, mirroring the melancholy tone of the track perfectly. Oh, and the band get involved in a car accident, so, prepare yourself for that. Check out the video below. Biffy Clyro released their epic double album 'Opposites' back in March this year, and will (finally!) be headlining [...]
[Watch] Biffy Clyro - "Opposite" (Official Video)
We can't give Biffy Clyro enough praise this year following the release of their fantastic double LP, Opposites . They've gone from strength to strength since the release, headlining their largest tour to date, supporting Muse and playing a string of US dates including Coachella. Today they offer up the official video clip for the track "Opposite" which sees a rather warped look at the world. It also sees the Simon, James and Ben being involved in a huge car crash and the horror that follows is pretty gripping. It's also a nice road safety ad. Always [...]
Five at 5 – Vol. 84
The Indiecision Five at 5 is our attempt at sharing our musical tastes with you, and showcasing music from around the world. Each weekday at 5pm sharp, one NH7 writer or staffer will bring you five songs he/she is listening to on the day. Debayan Deb is here today to spin his five. 1. Foals - 'Providence' I love British indie rock. Love it even more when the band has mathcore tendencies. 'Inhaler' was the song that got me into the Foals few months back. Ever since then I have been [...]

[Watch] Biffy Clyro - "Different People" (Live in London)
Biffy Clyro this year launched themselves into the stratosphere of UK rock arena status with the release of their double album Opposites . They played their largest headline tour of the UK too playing the likes of Manchester's MEN Arena and London's O2 Arena. The latter of which seems to have been recorded. Stereogum have premiered a live video for my personal favourite track from the new record, "Different People". Rocking the 20,000 strong London arena like no other, they put on a fantastic show and the flashing imagery of the recording gives you a [...]

Update: More than 60 bands added to Reading and Leeds 2013 line-up
Festival season is fast approaching and the picturesque images of rolling hills, covered in revellers swigging lukewarm cider move ever-closer. Rain or shine, a festival is an atmosphere unbeknownst, to anyone who hasn’t been a merrymaker at these events. People band together, the person in the tent next to you becomes your best mate and personal hygiene goes well and truly out of the window, to be forgotten until the pleasure of a shower on the Monday morning. No festival epitomises the festival spirit more than Reading and Leeds. [...]

Biffy Clyro forced to cancel remaining North American shows
Biffy Clyro have today been forced to cut short their North American tour and return to the UK immediately; Simon Neil has been struggling with a serious respiratory problem on the shows, including two nights supporting Muse at Madison Square Garden on Monday and Tuesday of this week, and was advised by doctors that he was endangering his long term health if he chose to continue performing on this run. Thus, further dates with Muse across the US and Canada, plus a second weekend performance at the Coachella Festival this coming Saturday, have now been [...]
