This is what the kids are up to these days.

Ah, the Warped Tour. One of the last remaining bastions of a punk-rock tour in the U.S. Even though I've never heard of most of the bands that are playing the festival this year and the tour tends to cater to a much younger crowd (i.e. 12-16 years old, it seems), Warped is still an American institution that should be attended at least once. That being said, the main acts for this, the 17th annual Warped Tour, include the following bands: 3OH!3, A Day To Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, Against Me!, August Burns Red, [...]

For all the juice the supposedly revitalized, social media-fueled Sunset Strip is enjoying these days, it remains on many nights a living museum for rock clichés. Tired metal, un-ironic Spinal Tapestry, decadence-celebrating party rock and rap — on many nights, the welcome mat is out, and the audiences here, straining to hear echoes of the days the Strip was a real breeding ground and not just a cluster of good venues competing against the region's other good venues. The weekend's third annual Sunset Strip Music Festival was much more about legacy than [...]
I looked it up, and that's not Mike Shitoda. After they reunited with C.C. DeVille circa 2000, one of the most brilliant things Poison ever did, business-wise, was to put together those summer shed tours where they take out three other prominent glam bands (e.g. Cinderella, Warrant, Faster Pussycat,Dokken, Slaughter, etc.) and only charge like [...]

As we reported yesterday , a Sublime reunion, or at least the closest possibility to a Sublime reunion, will be taking place at Cypress Hill's Smoke Out Festival 2009 . But that won't be the only act of note offered at this year's festival, which is scheduled from October 23-24 at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, Califronia. Slipknot, Deftones, Pennywise (minus its frontman), Method Man & Redman, and Kottonmouth Kings head the festivities, while Bad Brains, Immortal Technique, K'Naan, and Mix Master Mike are all also scheduled to make an appearance. Also confirmed will be [...]
I have always been a fan of Cali Producer/DJ Troublemaker . He has turned out some great remixes in the past, and every time we get a new one from him I have to post it. This time, he has remixed the track "Sinner" by Las Vegas's Big B which features the lead singer of Unwritten Law, Scott Russo. Troublemaker met Big B a year ago while he was putting the finishing touches on his album. He heard some of his tracks and knew that he had a few hits on hand; so, [...]

photo: Muffet An album that seemed to breeze by me was by a hip-hop artist called "Scratch" - who was formerly a beatboxer in "The Roots" (who also have a new album out in October). Anyway one of the songs off his album was played on Gilles Peterson's show on Radio 1 yesterday and I had my first listen of Scratch's material. The song features Damon Albern and Talib Kweli and its pretty good. Some good laid back vocals from Damon and some nice rapping from Talib make for quite a good song. I [...]
