Today we are excited to premiere the track listing to Steel Tipped Dove 's forthcoming mixtape,  Steel Tipped Dove & A Whole Bunch of Crazy Motherfuckers . Split into two parts, the rising producer plans on dropping a ton of new music with features from the likes of Open Mike Eagle, YC the Cynic, Shirt, Big Baby Gandhi, Kool AD and much more. Daft Punk damn near broke the Internet this past Monday when their new album,  Random Access Memories , hit the web and quickly appeared on iTunes as a full stream . But coming in a close second place was Kanye West, partially because HMV Japan revealed that June 18 is most likely the release date of his next album. He also performed inside of a pyramid . Yeah. Some fishy shit was going on this release, some dude emailed us n who knows who telling us to post the tape before it's release. Some asshole actually did. And now, it seems the internet is a little confused on the BBG's status. MJF is calling the release posthumous. While Big Baby Gandhi quit rapping almost a year ago to pursue his pharmaceutical career, the fans were promised by Greedhead that material from him would still surface. Sticking to their word, the label released "America Eats Its Babies", a collaboration EP with Yuri Beats. I was never really into BBG even when his rap career was still active, but the quality production and free flowing lyrics makes this short project a worthy keeper in the iTunes library. Despite the fact that most rap retirements are a combination of histrionics and hyperbole, America Eats Its Babies is probably the last we will hear from Queens MC/pharmacology student Big Baby Gandhi . The EP boasts five tracks of Gandhi's usual crop of political and pervy quips with Yuri Beats (who has worked with YC The Cynic and Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, among others) as sole beat-maker. While we'll have to wait until later this year to hear his proper debut album, the now-retired Big Baby Gandhi just dropped an EP produced entirely by Yuri Beats.  America Eats Its Babies is a five-track free release that will no doubt make you wish Gandhi never hung it up. You can't blame the guy, though, especially after you read his interview with  XXL about the EP, his retirement, and more. I can't tell you how happy I am to have this joint So Soft. Nafis used to have it on his tumblr, I had it bookmarked n everything. It's such a big jam, like most of the cuts on this unreleased tape. What's good though? Toss the Big Baby  a couple bucks so he can get his  Debut album mix n mastered.

La dee da dee, he is the Gandhi, and he is back with some unreleased tracks made prior to the release of his second smash mixtape,  No 1 2 Look Up 2 . Our friend Steel Tipped Dove produced "Drink A Little Pepsi" and "If I Had Wings", but other than that, all of the tracks are BBG originals, and they're everything you'd hope for and more. We received some disappointing news today when 22-year old rapper Big Baby Gandhi announced his retirement from rap on Tumblr. He didn't give any official reason for stepping back from the mic, but vaguely cited a lack of support from people outside of his fanbase.  You can read his full statement below and, apparently, he will be answering questions on Tumblr and Twitter for the next few days. Following a successful 2012 during which he dropped his great  No1 2 Look Up 2 album and spit a slew of killer guest features , New York rapper-producer Big Baby Gandhi has decided to call it quits. He took to his Tumblr, which he said will be deleted soon, to break the news with an "official retirement post." You can read that below. We've already given a round down of our favorite artwork and music videos of 2012, and now we're diving into our choices for the best songs of the past year. To be blunt, we loved  a lot of singles in the past 12 months from across the genresphere, though hip-hop and its off-shoots remain the backbone of our selections. For example, Baauer 's "Harlem Shake" most certainly isn't rap music, but the genre's influence breathes through the floor-shaking bass and synthesizers. This past Sunday brought with it the saddening news that Das Racist —the NYC-repping trio of Heems, Kool A.D., and Dapwell—has indeed called it a day . While many will argue that this is all perfectly fine given the increasingly strong solo output of Heems and Kool A.D. , I'm personally still kind of bummed about it. The way they played off of one another was both complementary and low-key brilliant. Heems from Das Racist really knows what he is doing. His label, Greedhead, is really fucking killing this year. Off the top of my head, I can count six strong releases (and I know I am missing some, but I am too lazy at this point to look them up) from his label. One of the more exciting mixtapes from the label is Big Baby Gandhi's NO1 2 LOOK UP 2 . The 21-year-old Queens product is another exciting voice in the ever-expanding Greedhead empire. While a previous version of this track had been floating around, rapper-producer KechPhrase decided to rework "Immigrant Children" to give it the proper release it deserves. And we're proud to premiere it here at Potholes, as we've been feeling dude's music since we first heard him earlier this year . "Immigrant Children", which features Big Baby Gandhi , serves as a preview of Kech's forthcoming full-length album due out later this year. It's also an ode of sorts to Nas , who you can hear all scratched up on the hook.

Philadelphia rapper/producer Lushlife delivered one of my favorite mixtapes of 2011. His No More Golden Days tape featured standout tracks such as "Adult Goth," which featured Das Racist/Greedhead head honcho Heems, and "Motivation," which borrowed one of the best Clams Casino beats of 2011 (not counting the completely righteous beat from A$AP Rocky's "Palace," which still resides in my most played iTunes list this year). The clear standout from the tape, however, was "She's A Buddhist, I'm A Cubist." The original is a stellar, old-school cut that features a great guest verse from Memphis rapper Cities Aviv in [...]
