When music enters a popularity game, prescribes of whatever genre is of the moment flood the earth in biblical proportions. But when the tide sinks back down into the plates, few are actually left to rise and thrive. Such was the case with the great doom epidemic of a few years ago. Oddly enough, one of the more influential music venues in DC as of late, isn't a music venue at all. Catalyzed by long time DC music go-to, Collin Crowe (who incidentally is also in the thriving instrumental group Buildings ), Big Bear Café has increasingly played host to shows that not only might otherwise have trouble finding a home in DC, but also might threaten to be more interesting than the shows being held in those established venues.
