Yes, the Sousedcast, mostly because I am fucking steaming. Getting shitfaced and swearing at the internet about music may sound irretrievably sad, but it is one of the great pleasures in my life. Seriously, listen to this shit, is it not completely brilliant? I don't listen to my own podcasts again and again - that would be a bit like wanking with a fistful of your own toothpaste - but I listen to the playlists for these things all the time, because even if my chat is shit, the playlists to our podcasts are brilliant. They really are, [...]

Seemingly in the blink of an eye it’s the last day of the festival. After another early morning wake-up, breakfast and numerous cups of coffee I head to The Mesmerist to see a band I've featured a couple of times recently, Keebo . Their early set time doesn't do many favours and the punters that have managed to dust themselves off early all have a beleaguered look about them. The sound is muddy too which doesn't help but amongst all that there are some wonderful textured guitar sounds and intricate melodies entwining [...]

The VPME Big Deal Big Deal release their new single, ‘ Dream Machines ’, on 22 July and are about to commence a tour in support of their forthcoming album, June Gloom , which is out on 3rd June . And Big Deal really are just that, even more so since embracing a new sonic dynamic, which is shogegazy, ethereal, beatific and let's be honest rather epic. ' Dream Machines ' follows on from ' Teradactol and 'In Your [...]

The past week saw several notable artists - many ranking among my favorites - release new tracks. Camera Obscura distributed a new track off their forthcoming album Desire Lines , Typhoon gave us a stellar digital single, and we heard a new track off the upcoming album from The Moondoggies. On top of that, I continued the show with recent tracks off new or just released records including those by Scout Niblett, The Mantles, Phosphorescent and Club 8. Weather here in NW Washington has been dreary at best, but that just [...]
Today's music is willing and ready. Enjoy. : Big Deal - Dream Machines : If you don't have Big Deal's upcoming album on your "anticipated" list, then you need to whip out your pen and scribble it in. So far in 2013 they've released three stellar singles, and I can't wait to check out what else they've crafted. June Gloom is due on June 4 via Mute . : Honeymoon - Sure Stuck : Here's a new act that was created by Aaron Shanahan and Benjamin Plant. The pair [...]
Back in 1961, electronics technician Ian Sommerville and experimental artist Brion Gysin created a stroboscopic flicker device they called the Dreammachine . Their Dreammachine was viewed with the eyes closed and affected alpha wave activity, allowing viewers to enter a hypnogogic state seeing increasingly exotic and complex shapes and patterns swirling on the backs of their eyelids. Not surprisingly, both men were friends and collaborators with the perpetually altered-consciousness of William S. Burroughs. Music Player: [...]

>> We hear singles. Like Gary Coleman's character in the 1981 comedy "On The Right Track" could see winning racehorses. So we weren't too surprised when, just hours after we filed our copy with Vanyaland for our review of the new Big Deal record , which review pegged "Dream Machines" as an album highlight, it was announced that the song would be the second single from the new set. As we said here in our review of the London-based duo's June Gloom , which streets June 4 on [...]

Big Deal is a band that I took a liking to after we shared their new song "Teradoctol" with you guys a few months ago. Today we get another taste of new material with latest single "Dream Machine". I hear sounds similar to bands like Races mixed with more electronic based groups like Purity Ring. Either way, this band is growing on me with each and every spin. New album June Gloom will be released on June 4th via Mute Reocrds .

Big Deal have shared a new song, "Dream Machines", from their forthcoming album, June Gloom. The new album will release on June 4th through Mute, so you have the whole month to get...
Tweet We've been big fans of Big Deal for a while now . We've been, like, making a Big Deal about them. HA HA HA HA HA HA. HA. HAHAHAHAH. Ha ha... Ahem. First came (at least on this blog) Teradactol, then In Your Car and now the elegantly bruising Dream Machines. Good grief that's quite the business. Big Deal release their debut album June Gloom on the 4th June and embark on a UK tour later this week, starting at the Great Escape [...]

London duo Big Deal - made up for of yank Kacey Underwood and the homegrown Alice Costelloe - release their debut album in June, and in anticipation have released new track 'Dream Machines' to the wider world. As expected from previous singles, 'Dream Machines' is heavy on the guitars but whereas previous offerings have been grungy, down-strummed chords, this almost flutters by on an intoxicating, chiming pattern. Throughout, Underwood and Costelloe trade vocals in classic style and the whole things bubbles with the energy of a band about to to make a definite breakthough. [...]

Words: Saam Das Big Deal 's new album is called 'June Gloom' , perhaps taunting all of the UK while we try to navigate the rather dreary May weather. Oddly enough, their new single 'Dream Machines' seems to (at least metaphorically) opening up the clouds and shining upon our withered souls. Have a listen below, along with the more psych-influenced recent single, 'In Your Car'. The duo have attracted countless Pixies comparisons, [...]
British/American rock duo BIG DEAL premiers Dream Machines, the next single from their upcoming sophomore album June Gloom. Previously we already got the singles In Your Car and Teradactol, presenting the new and fuller sound of Alice Costelloe and Kacey Underwood - at least compared to their 2011 debut Lights Out. The new single gut The post Big Deal premiere new single "Dream Machines" appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
2013 has been a massive year of music so far, with some epic releases from some of our favourite acts. This month, we can expect releases from The National, City & Colour, Baths, Daft Punk, Big Deal, Savages, Noah & The Whale and The Boxer Rebellion. Read below for a preview of some May releases that have particularly tickled our fancy. Noah and the Whale - Heart of Nowhere - Out Now by Lisel Nicholls Will be released with a short film. The VPME And so it came to pass that on the third day of Liverpool Sound City our hangover had swelled to Brobdingnagian proportions! We awoke gripped by 'the F.E.A.R.' aka 'hangover anxiety', and resolved we needed something to expunge the darkness, to cleanse us like bleach. BLEECH Ironically, the first gig of the final day was from Bleech, a band we've been long time fans of but never managed to catch live, but whoooaa, was [...]

The VPME Truth is the first time we heard Big Deal (Alice Costelloe & Kacey Underwood) was via The Guardian's New Band Of the Day with a track called 'Homework.' And we rather liked them, but what with the speed of all things on line, modern life and other excuses like THESE we actually didn't go back and investigate. So without writing an open letter of apology (because we don't generally write open letters) we'll pretend we're incredibly hip and discovered them before they'd [...]
